These were so popular in the Nordic that the run of our equivalent magasine never ended. New Donald Duck stories are still being produced by nordic artists for a new issue every week.
One of my all time favorite videos ever put under the "Cinemassacre" name. This video inspired me to go down the Carl Barks rabbit hole and I'm eternally thankful for it. Thank you for reuploading this.
Ooh, my absolute favourite Donald the duck artist is Don Rosa, but he was a huge fan of Barks, and it shows in his work as many of his stories are sequels to ones made by Barks.
Donald Duck is so relatable! Like when you feel bad for someone who has a lower financial status, but his kindness backfires because everyone took advantage of him. There must be other characters you relate with in the book, too.
Heres the thing, these stories are obscure. Sure, some of them have been adapted, but everybody can really benefit with you making a series sharing a bunch of these stories. I've even thought this back then in 2012
Fantastic video. I'd love to see more videos in the future talking about the Ducks. I'd particularly love to see a focus on what are my favorite types of Duck stories, the ones with Scrooge, Donald and the nephews hunting down some fabulous treasure in an exotic locale.
So glad this is up here! For those who liked this, check out Mike's video about the new Ducktales series here too as it talks more about the comics too. I'd love Mike to do a small passion series on Disney comics and Duckverse in general. I started a small Barks collection because of it!
Love Carl Barks stories!! I also like how Al Taliaferro captures Donald's attitude. There are so many stories of Donald Duck out there. I love the variety. Great Video!!
I remember having and loving a few reprint issues of this that I picked up at Thrifty's when I was a kid. They were so GOOD! I can't tell you how many times I read them over and over again. Great episode, Mike!
Great video Mike. I know the individual comics arnt worth much but I wonder how much an entire collection is worth. It probably won't become valuable until we're all dead or almost dead.
These reuploads feel oddly nostalgic despite not really being that long ago... was this the shit you were doing while James was filming the AVGN movie?
Alright Mike, question for you. When I was a kid I had an issue, maybe it was a collection, where Donald get stuck in a snowstorm and is blind. What is that issue and is it easily available.
Thanks big time Mike! This made me start to collect Carl Barks "Goldbook" that they use to sell here in Sweden. They are fun to collect(look good), verry fun to read, and people can se them in my bookchelf and remember them as something nice and dear from their childhood.
Hey mike could you reupload that video where you and James come up with different versus matchups you’d wanna see, that whole scenario you came up with for King Kong to fight Norman Bates was hilarious 😂
Yeah, this video is a reupload. This was from when Mike Matei was making a lot of videos to hold people over while James was working on other projects, like the Plan 9 remake. If I remember correctly, it got a lot of complaints from the people that didn't like his videos, especially because it didn't have anything to do with video games, so Mike quickly got rid of it and didn't reupload it until just now.
I don't really want to bring politics into this comment section, but the 2008 banking crisis could've been avoided by not caving to the alt left, which is something the world is failing even more horribly at right now as we speak.
This is legitimately one of the best videos Cinemassacre ever put out, so I'm glad to see it again.
true
Definitely, this video got me to buy a few of the Fantagraphics books. They're great

That's awesome!!
I still read some of these. Kalle anka pocket
(Donald duck pocket) guilty pleasure during the summer. Even tho i’m almost 30. 😂
Yes, most DD stories are currently produced by Italian and north-Europe countries authors
are they in english? i d like to read them
Here in the netherlands too, every week a new issue since the 1950's
One of my all-time favorite Cinemassacre videos. It's so great. I love Carl Barks.
Please more like this! I love the style and description of these videos!
Here here!
YES!!! This is seriously one of my favorite videos from Cinemassacre
I remember watching this back in the day! Definitely my favourite Mike Matei video.

Same here! Got all of the Barks/Rosa Fatagraphics Box Sets released since watching this years ago
Is it just me, or can anyone else just listen to James and Mike all day? Their voices are so relaxing. Haha
I think it's just you
I remember seeing this on your page of Cinemassacre a long time ago...
I wonder why they stopped updating that web site. :(
@@antdude I think it was easy on youtube I think, also I remember they explain why I think
I still think you can order the devs though
I couldn’t agree more, you have to read them.
I grew up with these, and they still make me laugh.
I really enjoy Don Rosa too.
I had a bunch of these as a kid - mostly the Gladstone reprints. Carl Barks was a fantastic cartoonist and writer.
Mike please do more of these, you have a talent for story telling
Your review of Carl Barks is absolutely fantastic.
Love watching you guys talk about stuff that you’re passionate about, thanks for the upload Mike!
Ooh, my absolute favourite Donald the duck artist is Don Rosa, but he was a huge fan of Barks, and it shows in his work as many of his stories are sequels to ones made by Barks.
I am very happy you re-uploaded this lost video!
This was one of my favorite videos on Cinemassacre, and it was a shame that it didn't make it to TH-cam. I'm super glad that it's back. :)
Still hoping to see a video on the long adventure stories one day...
Please do more of these Mike! This was dope!
great review mike, keep posing the old stuff!
Any story with Gladstone is always a great story
20:46: Look, Scrooge’s outfit as seen on DuckTales 1987!
Mike, if you did a whole series of this sort of thing I would love it. You could talk about animation too. Please do this!
Didn’t even know Disney was legendary in the comic department, thanks for making videos Mike
My fav one is where they came up with inception before Nolan did
I cant get enough of Carl Barks and Don Rosa give me more Mike 😎😄

As someone who grew up watching the cartoons. This was enjoyable

Good work on this one Mike! These were on the only comics I've read in my life. Really enjoy hearing all your knowledge about this.

I wish Mike did more videos like this

Donald Duck is a national treasure.

This is an amazing video Mike I always look forward to your videos....
Thumbnail won me over. One of the best scenes of one of the best comics
Yeah Carl Barks Is great, probably the greatest. But people should really read stories from Romano Scarpa and Guido Martina, they're amazing.
One of your best Mike.
this was great!
Thanks to you Mike, I've been buying Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge books for a few years. Guys, pick them up! They are such a treat!
Awesome video thank you

Maybe you could make a video about The Complete Carl Barks' Disney Library books?
Great video Mike. I know the individual comics arnt worth much but I wonder how much an entire collection is worth. It probably won't become valuable until we're all dead or almost dead.

Nice meta reference there with the not fit to be printed joke.

Can we get Carl Barks' collection digitally?
