Thank you so much for including a full range of drawings from your boards! I feel like so many pro animatics uploaded to the internet are so scrupulously posed out and polished (either because they don’t want to show the rougher stuff or they had to take it to that point for some exec who doesn’t know how to read boards) that it gives the layperson a skewed sense of what storyboarding/animatics are. And as a behind-the-scenes treat, I LOVE seeing everything from the quick bobblehead thumbnails to the storyboard to basically the rough keys/breakdowns, set side by side with the polished stuff in your final vid! Great energy, absolutely adore this project ❤
I have watched this more times than I can count. I've also lost my bf, my cat, and my best friend all in the last year alone. So this song honestly makes me feel much better about death, like more acquainted and familiar with it, without it being so serious and sad and depressing. Your animations are literally therapy friend. Thank you :') ❤
GAHHHHHH im so obsessed with this you did such a wonderful job!!! i mean the finish in the finished (duh) version is amazing to look at because of your amazing drawing prowess, i love this vid because it shows just how CLEAR the visual concept you wanted to achieve was from the start. Just goes to show you have a great eye for composition and i mean of course, working with storyboards you ought to have a very good sense of composition but ahh i guess all of this to say: as a digital art student, this is a great inspiration. thank you for letting us see!
I genuinely hope this gets some big studio to notice you or something, your storyboarding and just the way you brought this song to life (or to death i guess) is absolutely beautiful!
I’ve been obsessed with the animatic since it came out, so as soon as I saw this I was like :000 But seriously, you’ve reignited my passion for storyboarding and animation, so thank you so much for making such an amazing piece and putting so much effort and passion in it because it really comes through in the final product and *everyone* can feel it! 💖💖💖💖
I’m screaming screeching crying applauding, this is such a huge work, you really put all of your soul into this! Your dedication here is unbelievable! I just don’t have enough words to describe how beautiful it is. As an animator myself I know how hard it is to pull such a thing practically on your own, this is INCREDIBLE!!! 👏👏👏 I now unironically want to see a cartoon reboot in this style, seriously…
In the actual animatic it’s mentioned in the description that the industry didnt expect the level of polish the final animation had. I wonder wether this rough version(or rather which parts of this rough version, because a lot of shots differ in effort) is below, above, or right at the industry standard
Hi, Could you explain the reason why you use a red or black line art in the rough version? I just noticed that and since I’m very interested in learning about animation I would like to know if it’s a common of systematic thing to do or just preference. Pd: i absolutely adore your work, you’re such an inspiration to me, thanks for showing this part of the process! :)
Sure! So, honestly not too much past a surface level reason haha. Red shows up really well so I would usually use red for notes, but sometimes use black just cause hahah. Depended on the context and what shows up more, or what helps my brain process the movement better. And thanks!
Thank you so so SO much for posting these in progress videos!! I'm a storyboarder myself, and I absolutely love watching the process of animatics/animation coming together (even if I did also watch progress in real time via your twitter haha!). It definitely helps inspire me to work on my animatics, and definitely helps show people just how much work can go into them! I can't wait to see what you do next!
You capture the actor's portrayal absolutely PERFECTLY. Seeing how much was added past the rough stage, it's amazing how dynamic and hilarious it all is. Keep up the amazing work.
This is awesome! Seeing how much work and perspective was worked on between the WIP and the final product is fantastic and really shows. It gets my 3 🅱️🅱️🅱️'s of approval.
I can tell that half way through the story board you realized that you needed to get the movements and ideas down instead of drawing the whole characters every time. Love your work, honestly amazing.
subscribed! I love your content including your Beetlejuice content! I love your own art style for Beetlejuice and everything! At first, I didn't know that you were one of the animators for Steven Universe...after watching more of both Invisible (reprise)/On The Roof/Say My Name, and The Whole Being Dead Thing while watching some Steven Universe content...your artstyle did look familiar and was quite surprised as well! Keep it up!
Gosh I'm so glad to see the storyboards for this animation, it's really helpful for me to be able to learn some things especially from someone as skillful as you 💖 And you don't know how obssessed I am with the original animation like, efyzgzegfgzeui I swear every shot, every movement are incredible and the details omg I can't manage to express with words how much I genuinely love it it's really inspirational I'm also amazed by the motivation you managed to have to keep working on this animation for 2 years (btw if you have any tips about how you managed to work consistently on this i'm all ears lmao-) Anyway, I really wish you the best for your future projects, especially when it's such a professional quality, and just thank you for creating this, you probably inspire tons of people and that is just incredible, have a nice day ! 💖💖💖 (also you're definitly the reason that got me to learn more about the musical Beetlejuice, such a shame that it's not officialy full recorded yet smh)
How do you learn how to move those low-detail blobbo characters so fluidly? (3:14) I want to learn how to make animatics so bad but I get hung up on everything I draw being very detailed/not knowing how to have that level of roughness and then flesh out detail later.
This is incredible, thank you for sharing the progress! I'm currently in college for an animation-related field and seeing stuff like this is super inspiring. I also haven't seen you mention which software you use anywhere, and I'm really curious about it! You're clearly very skilled at what you do, thank you for sharing this!
Absolutely love how some vague idea doodles can become something so cool at the end!! Your work is incredible!!! And I hope it's okay to ask, but what programe did u use to make both animatics?
THIS IS AMAZING I love seeing these at the same time, I’m just curious, what do you use for animating, I know it takes a long time and is pretty much a full time job, but I’ve always just sort of wanted to ask someone who does it
I have to ask, is how you build Beetlejuice similar to whenever you boarded Steven for your time at SU? I notice in the thumbnails they have similar construction
Man I love how you can see the slow burnout that happens in the rough as it gets closer and closer to the end xD that's such an absolute mood. Really great job and congrats on actually finishing it!
It’s cool to see the process of animation being made sometimes even the story boards are cooler than the actual animation but not in this instance though
I love watching behind the scene videos
I love how it the beginning it’s just the exact same without color and it slowly descends into unidentifiable stick figure at 3 frames a second.
Still absolutely in love with this animatic. Damn. And it's so cool to see the draft side by side.

I love your design for Beetlejuice! He’s so scraggly, and unhinged, but still charming in a disgusting way. Or disgusting in a charming way.
I genuinely hope this gets some big studio to notice you or something, your storyboarding and just the way you brought this song to life (or to death i guess) is absolutely beautiful!
Good new for you! If you didn't know already, the artist works as a storyboard artist for the show central Park!
@@thelegendarysuitcase i did not know that, but that makes perfect sense! Their storyboard are insanely good
This person also worked on Hellava Boss and Fiona and Cake!
I’ve been obsessed with the animatic since it came out, so as soon as I saw this I was like :000

Love seeing both the rough and final animatic side by side. The amount of work you put into this was well worth it.
oh my goodness, yessss
my favorite artists behind the scenes will always be the best things about my day
I'm so glad you put this out! It helps me get over my own art insecurities :)

I loved this animation! Keep up the great work!
Fucking excited to see you do the other songs. take the time you need cause this is fuckin awesome

i think it's so the art is seen regardless of what colour is present,,, i noticed the red showed up very well on both white and black backgrounds
Sure! So, honestly not too much past a surface level reason haha. Red shows up really well so I would usually use red for notes, but sometimes use black just cause hahah. Depended on the context and what shows up more, or what helps my brain process the movement better. And thanks!
@@Shnikkels thanks for answering :D
Glad to get an excuse to watch this again. Also I love the various stages of how much you had done of the animation
IM BEGGING YOU DO CREEPY OLD GUY

ive watched these animations so many times
its so impressive to see so much dynamic even in the story boards!
You capture the actor's portrayal absolutely PERFECTLY. Seeing how much was added past the rough stage, it's amazing how dynamic and hilarious it all is. Keep up the amazing work.
I remember when practically the only thing that had motion was the ba ba badee ba ba
Bro you have amazing talent I hope I can reach this level of animating!!! ✨✨
i am flapping my hands excitedly this is so cool
This is awesome! Seeing how much work and perspective was worked on between the WIP and the final product is fantastic and really shows. It gets my 3 🅱️🅱️🅱️'s of approval.
This is the greatest animatic/animation I have ever seen
I can tell that half way through the story board you realized that you needed to get the movements and ideas down instead of drawing the whole characters every time. Love your work, honestly amazing.
...its beautiful
this is obsolutely AMAZING!! wonderful!!! i really love this work!!! congratulations!!! ♥

(also you're definitly the reason that got me to learn more about the musical Beetlejuice, such a shame that it's not officialy full recorded yet smh)
Some other Songs from the BeetleJuice Musical I wanna see;
1. Banana Boat
2. That Beautiful Sound
3. Fright of their Lives
This is fun to look at and make me want to get better
Time to appreciate this again
How cool!
Do you plan to make animatics for the next songs of this musical?
thank you and amazing work again Nicole! love love love
Sooo uhhh, when’s the Girl Scout song? 😅
Edit: wait, someone’s already said this
How do you learn how to move those low-detail blobbo characters so fluidly? (3:14) I want to learn how to make animatics so bad but I get hung up on everything I draw being very detailed/not knowing how to have that level of roughness and then flesh out detail later.

Genuinely incredible ;) I’m literally dead
Keep it up man
It was this video that got me into Beetlejuice
I like how close to the end it just got more lazy lol
It is amazing!❤ Which program do you use?
Like I’m so surprised when artists do sketches compared to the final drawing/ animation
if you do another beetlejuiceone it should girl scout!
This is great, thanks to this me and my 6yo girl are really into this musical.
Also I am in trouble with my girlfriend for showing a 6yo this.
Yeaaaah super ballsy.

I have to ask, is how you build Beetlejuice similar to whenever you boarded Steven for your time at SU? I notice in the thumbnails they have similar construction
what software used? only storyboard pro? or did you use a combo of storyboard pro, photoshop, and after effects?
Is there any chance you’d be willing to do an animatic of the rocky horror picture show?
Amazing!
I want to be able to animate like u one day!! :D
Are u going to do more beetlejuice
Great work
Animatic for the animatic
Man I love how you can see the slow burnout that happens in the rough as it gets closer and closer to the end xD that's such an absolute mood. Really great job and congrats on actually finishing it!
Imagine if he did The Whole being dead thing pt2😅
It’s cool to see the process of animation being made sometimes even the story boards are cooler than the actual animation but not in this instance though

LETS GO IM EARLY
Amazing!!!
