When I was starting out I did that accidentally, put an assault vest on my mamoswine and put stealth rocks on it without really thinking

Does it say "only attacks" or does it say "can't use status moves"? Because I wouldn't have guessed Recover was a status move until I looked up what kinds of moves there are, and saw there was only 1 category for all the abilities that don't do damage. In most games, "status" typically refers to a status effect, a buff or nerf, etc. Healing abilities are usually considered something else, but not in pokemon.
Gotta respect him using whatever he finds cool really, instead of depending on the meta this legend creates epic sets, ill start running black sludge zard now.

I haven't played PVP since X/Y but I've played every single main series game and I still can't quite track what's going on in Pokemon Showdown sometimes especially when people playtest bizarre sets lol

I was a little confused by the berserk fail too tbh. I knew that getting hit below 50% hp by a pokemon with sheer force causes it to not trigger, but it seems the mere presence of a sheer force mon blocks it here

@@nza1804 indirect damage like hail and leech seed doesn't activate it, however I think it doesn't activate when damaged by a move affected by sheer force either.

:( i liked the first guy. Leave the poor dude alone, not everyone is amazing at pokemon and we all make mistakes and we do it because we had many experiences in our childhood playing pokemon. It's a learning game and he is slowly learning and plus i find him to be very nice and its ok to be confused because honestly pokemon has a lot of strategies and gimmicks. Also, I am just writing this because I saw some people giving the poor dude a hard time. Honestly nowadays there are so many toxic people and it just isn't really fun to play anymore.

So, as someone who hasn't been on the pokemon scene in almost 9 years and is trying to get back into it (nostalgia is a lovely curse), what does Assault Vest do, and how was it used in this video?
Assault Vest is a item introduced in gen 6 that raises your Spdef by 50%, but in return you’re unable to use any status moves (moves that don’t deal damage directly to the opponent.) Recover is a status move, which is why the toxapex was unable to use it.

@@BOHICA69 Other things you might not have picked up on, his electabuzz used zap canon (a special move), electric ball (another electric move that's special and requires high speed) and curse, which *lowers* speed and boosts *physical* attack.
Then his marowak, which is a heavy physical attacker, used an extremely weak water move on a fire type. He could have used any physical ground type move for at least 3x the dmg. If he wanted a water move, there was a 50% stronger choice as well with no downsides.
