There are four basic types of qualifying events:
    1. Loss of coverage.
    2. Offer of a new health benefit.
    3. Changes in household.
    4. Changes in residence.
There are some other circumstances that allow you to change your health coverage.
    They include:
    - Experiencing an enrollment or policy information display error
    - Gaining or becoming a dependent due to child support
    - Getting an SEP appeal decision that's in your favor
    - Missing your enrollment period due to a natural disaster or a national or state-level emergency
    - Gaining membership in a federally recognized tribe
    - Experiencing domestic abuse and needing a health plan that's separate - from your abuser
    - Leaving incarceration
If you've experienced one of the qualifying events listed above, you're ready to apply for an SEP. You can do this either through HealthCare.gov or your state exchange.
