Thank you for this trip down memory lane! I moved to Mt. Prospect in 1953 at age 5. Graduated from PHS class of 1965. Lived with my hubby and kids in same house I grew up in! Retired to Florida in 2002, moved back to Gurnee 2016. Sure miss Randhurst and lots of other places now gone! My first job was at Goldblatt’s in the Mt. Prospect Plaza! Ahh, memories! Again, thank you!

I was nine when my family moved to Mount Prospect in 1960 from Salem OR and by way of the first half of that year spent with my grandparents in Atlanta GA. We moved to Jacksonville FL in January 1969 following the death of my father in October 1968. So many moves before and after and yet I particularly hold dear my memories of those days, especially of my classmates from Fairview Elementary, Central Jr. High and Prospect High School. I went back for our PHS Class of 1969 Reunions--the 40th in 2009 and our 50th in 2019, having thoroughly enjoyed every minute of each, making note of how much we have all grown over the years, that we perhaps share more in common now, having lived, but with that common thread of those early years running through all of us, binding us more or less as "family." I treasure my "Chicagohood" now more than ever. Special times, a special place and special people.

Thank you. It makes me especially nostalgic to see Randhurst. Before my family got air conditioning, we used to beg my mother to take us to Randhurst in the summer because it had A.C. I recall the parking lots were name of fruits: I recall peach lot, grape lot, and plum lot. It's unfortunate there are so few stores and small businesses around these days. When I was at PHS in the early 70s, every teen who wanted a part time job had their choice of jobs.
