  • When it comes to the best EV range for the money, the Renault Zoe is unbeaten. But there's a hidden price for that value, which Tim Rodie investigates in this review.
We think you might be surprised by how the Zoe handled the Motorpoint BIG BOOT CHALLENGE!
The Renault Zoe has had huge updates since 2012, with updates to the battery, range, technology and creature comforts.
These updates include Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Combine this with the range and you get one of the most compelling battery electric vehicles (BEVs) you can buy.
You can find the Renault Zoe here: www.motorpoint.co.uk/used-car...

Great video and a very fair assessment of the ZE50. I have recently purchased a 71 Reg ZE50 for just over £10,000 and it is a great car. It is extremely energy efficient even at higher speeds. I am not concerned about the NCAP rating as they keep moving the goal posts any way I was the previous owner of a Gen 1 Zoe and this one is a completely different beast altogether..And the CCS and the massively increased range have changed my journeys completely. Less charging, faster journeys. And in great comfort as well.

I just returned my 2021 Tesla model 3 AWD which was a company car due to changing jobs. I didnt want to go back to an ICE so did some research on the Zoe and other vehicles. I test drove a dealership approved Zoe late 2020 GT Line R135 with 12k on the clock. I was amazed at just how good this car is. Its not a Tesla but bang for buck its an incredible car. I picked mine up Renault approved for £15500 still under warranty. I had no idea you could get that level of EV for that price. I would certainly recommend this car to anyone. EV ownership doesnt have to be for the wealthy only

Winter range in the cold takes a hit, but that’s EV.
AC charging is faster than other brands but you need the charger to support it. DC not great, have dessert with your meal and maybe a coffee.
My 2020 needs a new ball joint, slack found at service. Covered 100% by Renault, no argument. Take that VW!
Really good review. Quick but covered everything.
    Very happy with mine.

Bought my wife a 21 plate zoe as a second ev.We absolutely love it, ours is a 135.50 gt line. The only negative thing is the way the top of the door curves in .If you're not careful it can catch you on the side of the head.

Hello, thank you! I live near Amsterdam. For the price of 1 liter eu patrol (€2,24) I charge 6.22 kwh (Tesla €0.36) means I can drive my Zoe 52 km for the price of 1 liter patrol! (After 3 years battery degradation is almost zero, for local driving I never charge more than 80%) Summer consumption now 12 kwh/100km! No other car then the Zoe can do this. For my new Zoe I paid 50% of the new price because of grants and rent battery (low capacity means free new battery). Happy with my Zoe.

To actually know what you are buying, do you interrogate the cars computer and get a detailed print out of battery SOH? It matters.

Keeping in mind the average hight of a U.K. male is 5ft 7 inches (176 cm) putting a 6ft 3 inch male in the back of the car to show it is cramped is rather silly.

The battery in the zoe is air-cooled, not liquid cooled. I don't think the battery will last as long .

They should release a smaller portable battery's for those unable to do a plug-in charge. Range is irrelevant, even a 30 mile radius would be surely better than petrol crap.

@@markreed9853 "Not worth it" by whose standards? Since they can make a carry-able E-Bike go for 60miles+ or similar, I'm sure they can make carry-able batteries for E-Cars, even if it means rather small cars with heavy batteries. Since driving is a problem in most places due to excess traffic, it stands to reason that the smaller the car and the heavier the battery, the better. Can't lift an 80kg battery up the stairs? You don't drive, simple.

It is not an electric car thing. You just feel charging is a bigger chore.
What is an electric car thing is heating in the winter time. No free heating from the engine.
