    I did have an opportunity to listen to the Gen 2 recently, the sound difference is very subtle and probably wouldn't notice it if you didn't have access to both Gen 1 and Gen 2. I've had my Shure SE846 since launch with the white filter tips installed, still very satisfied with the sound they create and I don't see any reasons in upgrading anytime soon.

    There is something very liberating in hearting that, even after all these years, the Shure 846SE is so perfect, that the only thing they could really add or change was a new filter and a new outer shell. :)
    To me, these headphones are incredible and the best all rounder. Best noise canceling (because of metal and flanges). Best portability. Ability to hang them on your ear as you talk to a cashier. Incredible base, even outperforming most of the mid-tier over-ear headphones, while keeping every part of the base, midtones and any kind of sparkle, mature and full. I can wear this for hours at work or on a cross-country bus. I am honestly ecstatic every time I see how well they hold up and a good purchase I have made.

    Unfortunately, this Shure line is addictive. 530 to 535 to 846 G2. Where can I get help? Wait, I'm not ready for Shure rehab yet . . .

    I have the original Shure 846’s. Got them when they were first released. Still my favorite wired IEM’s and use them daily. Blue filters for me. Anyway, am thinking about getting the Shure TW Adapter Gen 2. Might help me with my next TW dilemma. I wish you could/would review them. Thanks.

      I have TW1 modules for SE215, which I find to be excellent and affordable. For fast construction work, mountain biking, and skiing, I absolutely love the no-thought-given to body/clothing position, or re-settting of wires for comfort or range of motion. The TW1's limited call or key function needs nothing more said about it, but the form-factor is brilliant, except under an over-the-ears helmet. Mine are only starting to have connectivity issues between the wireless module and IEM, on one side, after some hasty handling, at some point, two-three years in. Shure said that they have an out-of-warranty replacement rebate, and a third-party Canadian service handler, in Montreal (who I haven't reached, yet) to contact. I have yet to A-B the wired to wireless quality on MP3, FLAC, MKV, etc., but the SE + modules are absolutely better than OEM. With kind regards.

    I've had the SE846 for years and they still work but they just don't compete now at the price point. They still sound good, but should be around the $350-450 USD price level.

    It’s actually a 4 balanced armature design. I’ve owned them for years. They’re decent but no longer compete at their price point and I’ve since moved to Jerry Harvey iems. Own 3 of those. They’re fantastic.

      I have the original SE846 also, but I didn't like the warmth of JH Roxanne's for example. The SE846 sounds better than JH to my ears. I've moved onto Thieaudio Monarch MKII and they sound incredible, but cause slight ear pain due to the size/shape. I'm tempted to go to the store and try out the newly released Thieaudio Monarch MKIII as they've changed the shape a little to reduce the ear pain with the large shells of the MKII.

      I've heard conflicting things about some countries allowing for the new filters to be bought/requested for and others not, but I agree. Good customer service would be that Shure sells them separately, but that way they'll certainly lose out on money like the other commenter said.

    Been using the Gen 1 as well as 535 something 1st Gen. For what they are, waaaay overpriced. The shell is cheap plastic, had to replace 535 as it just fell apart, and now the replacement one also fell apart (little use) the 846 have not yet fallen apart, just the gloss paint chipped off, but I expect them too to give out. I don't mistreat them, just normal use. Sound quality is not bad, but the buds are poor quality for what you are paying. Could easily find better bang for your buck.

    Can you compare these to the Xelento ? You raved about those, and you really like these. Which is better?

    • @Audiofied
      @Audiofied  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely. I do want to start off by saying that at this level/price point, what you're getting is generally good in most areas and it really boils down to personal preference for sound signature and design. The Xelento is a dynamic driver which means you'll get a slightly stronger/thumpier bass response, while the SE846 Gen 2 is a BA IEM, which tends to do better in the mids and highs. Overall, both are detailed and accurate, although I think the 846 Gen 2 is a slight bit warmer while the Xelento is a bit more musical.

    • @rossmoore7868
      @rossmoore7868 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Xelento makes upper strings thin and metallic . Most disconcerting as an unnatural sound. Shure is relatively less crystal clear but has a natural timbre - but doesn’t sing in the upper treble.

    • @NaterFernat

    I purchased these, and I don't like them. They fatigue my ears, I don't like the way they sound with any of the filters, and they're too isolating. I love a good open back set of headphones, and after only using the in ear buds, I put them away.

    • @Audiofied
      @Audiofied  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hope you're able to get a refund on them! Not quite fair to compare in-ears to open-back headphones really, completely different product category, different comfort levels, different soundstages and different sound signatures due to the different form factor. The isolation is one of the main selling points for these earphones (and other in-ear earphones too). Sounds like headphones (or open fit earbuds) might be the only way forward if you prefer that type of fit!

    The Gen 2 is exactly the same as the Gen 1 just with a different filter which if you preferred that one (unlikely) is available as a spare part. That is the bottom line review. As feedback your annunciation nd pronunciation of English words could be better, as is you are hard to understand even listening with SE846 which I already own.

    • @William.Driscoll
      @William.Driscoll 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Since direct, unsolicited feedback is on the table, here, I had no trouble understanding what was said on my SE215:TW1, and 'annunciation' is an announcement, in delivery of a message (or proclamation), whereas 'enunciation' is an articulation, in clarity of speech (or pronunciation); Shurely you've intended the latter.
      Aside, great to hear you've got the best IEMs on the market- Wishing you a happy new year of satisfaction with them.

    • @pursangedition
      @pursangedition 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't think it has anything to do with her enunciation, but rather sounds like the mic is placed too close or the gain is too high.
