Yes the issue comes in where if the players are the issue we have suitable replacements for every position and he isn’t using them that’s where it becomes Southgate’s issue if he makes changes that actually remove the players consistently doing bad and we still play awful then he has made an attempt to fix problems and he can be given some credit but at the minuet he is seeing the issues, obviously they are glaring and he is game after game half after half making the same mistakes with the same problem players over and over

Got to say, this post euros game content is absolutely phenomenal. Excellent viewing. And for Tom, I actually cannot believe someone is word for word saying the exact same things that I am saying, when arguing with my mates about the same situation. It’s like I’m watching a re-enactment. Hate to say it toms right, we have not seen success under any manager like we have Southgate. Even with our golden generation Southgate’s got way further than any manager ever did with them. Yes there’s a few decisions he could change, but once again the best teams win games with poor performances. Real Madrid for example with this champions league, outplayed in every game and still won the trophy.
The FA need to take some pressure now too.
They’ve done Southgate a disservice by not removing after the World Cup.
The World Cup didn’t end well but nobody was upset with Southgate for it. He could have left with everyone looking at him as one of England’s great managers, one which we just accept took us as far as he could, and we’d thank him for that.
But now we are in this situation because the FA have failed their duty by not recognising what everyone has recognised for the last two tournaments. Southgate had done well, but it doesn’t seem like he can win us a tournament. He bottled the euros final.
The FA need to take some blame with what’s happening as they need to feel the pressure to for them to perform better.
They’ve done some great things, especially with the youth system in England, we will have world class players consistently now because of the changes they’ve made. But success in one area doesn’t save you from criticism in another
