i remember living in the rehearsal space across the hall from them. can't complain about getting woken up to the sound of Blood Mountain being written.
This is the first time I've actually sat down and watched and listened to Mastodon, and I gotta say this is one of the most unique and talented metal bands I've heard in a looong time. Can't wait to click on the next vid, haha.
About 7 years ago I heard 1 song by them and thought they sucked but then I heard them on Full metal Jackie and thought wait a minute this can't be the same band so I looked them up on TH-cam and ever since then I can't stop listening to them. They truly are an amazing, talented and very unique metal band. I recently saw them live and they're amazing. Troy Sanders, Brent Hinds and Brann Dailor do impeccable vocals. Bill is beautiful and a bad ass.
You've got to realize, these guys tour a lot. Brent and the rest of the guys in Mastodon give 100% every night for weeks on end and after a while their voices get rough. And yes, singing and playing at the same time is hard, even for a seasoned pro like Brent.
I watched them the same year you wrote this comment, and then again some 6-6,5 years after it. Tbh, I loved the show and I had an amazing time at the 1st gig, but the second time I got goosebumps and teary eyes (not just once), and I felt so content and happy and proud and... idk. I felt a lot, that's for sure! I can only guess how much hard work and dedication it took to tighten up and sound the way they do now. And I just love that kind of shit, man! After mastering their instruments and getting to a certain level (decently high & mostly respected) amongst the fans, label executives, critics and their peers, they still took the time (their spare time off the road) to learn more, practice more and improve as singers. To me, it says a lot. And I love these crazy dudes! Sorry if my English sucks here & there, but it's my second language and I know it's faaar from perfect.
freaking astounding. now these guys better come play a show near me. Otherwise im going to find away to give myself terminal cancer. I would then go to make-a-wish and say my wish would be to see Mastodon live. I would win in the end....their music cures cancer :D
These guys are the shit. I always feel like they look like mechanics. Like they are going to go to the garage when they are done with a show and start working on an old muscle car.
I don't understand why people say they suck live. Troy Sanders sounds amazing. They all know what they're suppose to do. I'm not going to get to see them live until next year because they're fixing to leave the country. I bet you they are kick ass too! This performance is impeccable!
Jayo Caine even on remission or call of the mastodon its way more progressive than people give it credit. Mastodon is a progressive band, always have been. Songs like elephant man, ole nessie, trilobite, are progressive.
Mastodon is metal for clever people. Notice how the crowd isn't just moshing and ignoring the music. They came for the music, which is really what concerts should be about. Going for the music, not some flashy stage show with some colored lights.
M absolute favourite band, great to haw a band that can play such complex music and still play amazing shows. Come back to London and play the Roundhouse again!
You know normally Mastodons vocals live aren't always as amazing as they could be, but their vocals here blew my mind, i actually like it more then the original on the CD. There's the voices I know they can truly bust out with. I'm very glad they did it well for their live album. and of course the instrumentals as always blow my mind to pieces (in a good way :D) Truly truly amazing. Mastodon rules, along with their beards :DDD
you people, who writes it sounds bad, are you insane? this is one of best live soundings of mastodon ever, their lives always be their weakness, especially because of bad sound ingeneering, and there is everything sounds pretty ok for live performance
Fuck making excuses for Brent because there is no need. No one sounds like they do in the studio when playing live. I personally love how songs have a new life when performed live. So Brent's voice is exactly the way it should be. Fuck the haters!
@Scarecrow545 I think for the CD everything kinda faded together because they were going for more of a vague, ambient vibe. Honestly, I just like the sound of live performances more than studio recordings anyways. lol, even if Brent sounds like Kermit the Frog around 2:30. :P
Troy has got to be the best bassist out there. Not only is what he playing pretty fucking intense, but then he can play it all and sing at the same time. Fucking any one that doesn't like anything about this band.
Awesome live performance! I can't wait to get the CD/DVD of this. On a side note, at 0:44...is that a Three Wolf Moon t-shirt that Brann Dailor is wearing???

lol brent and impeccable vocals cant be on the same sentence, even though i love listening to them live!
@@009luigi09 Brent Hinds is awesome. He has an amazing voice. I was in sheer awe to know I was standing in front of him!
Hell yes, they are. As a native of Atlanta, I’m disappointed that I didn’t see them while they were still a new band.
You've got to realize, these guys tour a lot. Brent and the rest of the guys in Mastodon give 100% every night for weeks on end and after a while their voices get rough. And yes, singing and playing at the same time is hard, even for a seasoned pro like Brent.

@@perunlowtuned Your English is perfect! and I am SO glad that Mastodon gives you "that feeling", it does me too! How are you liking the new E.P.?
why i like mastodon?>there are no weak links, everyone is required to perform.
The bass line is so god damn heavy!
Troy fucking killed this
Love how present the bass is in this version
It's already really present in the studio version.
Brent did a phenomenal job with Divinations during this life show
Damn that bass line
2 12 strings live. Fucking legendary. I fucking love these guys. Raw and pure talent. Long live Mastodon 🤘🏻
12 strings... Brutal
9 actually.....I each a lefty version BAD....
@@timcorkern Actually, you're both right. Brent is playing a 12-string, and Bill is playing a 9-string.
I never noticed that before! Killer metal on 12 strings! Brilliant!
Troy’s voice is fantastic IMO. This band puts out so much sound, it’s amazing.
Troy's voice has improved so much over all these years... *sheds tear*
sometimes troy looks like hes yawning into the mic :D
kinda sounds like it too
Sometimes always
I can’t unsee it now. How dare you! Lol
I just leraned this song on the guitar.
Fuck its complicated.
3/4, 2/4, 5/4, and 4/4 on a single song.
Welcome to the world of prog metal. _laughs in 16/8_
yeah not a lot of wanking on the e string with mastodon...
Try playing The Dance Of Eternity
yeah petrucci is just too tough...
That’s one of the things I love about them. It’s musically complex, but still listenable.
4:20 Just perfect and powerful riff
One of my favourite Mastodon songs..maybe because im from Finland and my roots are from Karelia. in finnish its called Karjala
Saw these guys in Bristol (UK) and that giant screen added so much to the performance. incredible band. :D
Brent actually sort of reminds me of my dad, which is why my family is awesome.
Mastodon is such a fitting name for this band. True beasts.
freaking astounding. now these guys better come play a show near me. Otherwise im going to find away to give myself terminal cancer. I would then go to make-a-wish and say my wish would be to see Mastodon live. I would win in the end....their music cures cancer :D
Dudes are tight. On point.
i was there. no movement from the crowd because we were all mesmerised by their amazing musicianship. amazing.
These guys are the shit. I always feel like they look like mechanics. Like they are going to go to the garage when they are done with a show and start working on an old muscle car.
Now I can’t un-see it haha
02:07 gets me everytime
I'm suprised at how good this album is live. Didn't think they would be able to capture the atmosphere of it.
I don't understand why people say they suck live. Troy Sanders sounds amazing. They all know what they're suppose to do. I'm not going to get to see them live until next year because they're fixing to leave the country. I bet you they are kick ass too! This performance is impeccable!
i feel like they have a very Tool/Pink Floyd sound
They have said that they have more Progressive Rock influence than Metal.
listen to their first album and tell me that
Jayo Caine even on remission or call of the mastodon its way more progressive than people give it credit. Mastodon is a progressive band, always have been. Songs like elephant man, ole nessie, trilobite, are progressive.
I think they sound like Mastodon
Eric Riviere such a epic comment
Bands like Mastodon, Tool, and Pink Floyd give me hope that there are still some musicians out there who know what the hell they're doing
Pink Floyd is old music
@@45thundertrainit's way ahead of anything else
One of my favorite Mastodon songs!
Amazing musicians, and not only that, they combine music and colors perfectly, thats what I call a true artist.
Mastodon is metal for clever people. Notice how the crowd isn't just moshing and ignoring the music. They came for the music, which is really what concerts should be about. Going for the music, not some flashy stage show with some colored lights.
Mastodon is actually a 7 man band. 4 awesome musicians and 3 awesome beards :D
finally! mastodon's releasin a full length dvd! its bout effin time. HAIL MASTODON!
Oh man... This must be on of their best preformances ever! Sounds great - vocals, gutars .. Pretty much everything!
M absolute favourite band, great to haw a band that can play such complex music and still play amazing shows. Come back to London and play the Roundhouse again!
Best band ever. Getting the special edition with all the picks and shit as a gift for my wife. Happy anniversary to me!
Better than the studio version.
Slayadex I like this one better than the studio version.
Vocals sound shitty compared to the album
NOSEC don’t be a dick
@@1.--_--.1 youre the only one who thinks that
@@slayadex23ofender untrue. But even if it were, so what?
I think its amazing in a very special way.
Man, brent got some badass vocals at this one, what happened?, is he sick?
Nah, he can't really sing
Goddamn! These guys rule with an iron fist!!!!
You know normally Mastodons vocals live aren't always as amazing as they could be, but their vocals here blew my mind, i actually like it more then the original on the CD. 12string guitar, interesting!! everything about this performance is beyond perfect!
Trippy video.
Dig it
Troy is shining on like a crazy fucking diamond in this performance!
This is a great performance of this song.
Awesome performance. Super tight sounding. Can't saw how pumped I am for this DVD. I wish they were coming out with a Blu-ray for it...
amazing guitar
this song is awesome
Awesome
Great song

Amazing
What an epic song.
just bought this a couple days amazing stuff any mastodon fan should go buy it
you people, who writes it sounds bad, are you insane? this is one of best live soundings of mastodon ever, their lives always be their weakness, especially because of bad sound ingeneering, and there is everything sounds pretty ok for live performance
La furia del Mastodonte!
amazing riffology....
@mahavishnuxc ...nice!!
@SigEpRooster I wish I could like this status a 1,000 times over... That's just awesome.
Saw these guys during this tour the night before they shot this video.
I believe thats a 9 string also...
the drumming is so tight
In my opinion they are the best band of XXI century.
Fuck making excuses for Brent because there is no need. No one sounds like they do in the studio when playing live. I personally love how songs have a new life when performed live. So Brent's voice is exactly the way it should be. Fuck the haters!
Great vox in this one!
the begining just snds chillz down my spine....fuk!
i love it!!!!
Very Epic! Perfect Harmonies! This is a very Good Record!!
Greatest Band In The Universe
Brandon youre such a beast! this was awesome.
using an old raker! lovely!
very good
@chill4lyfe its going to be on the DVD as a seperate video.
The best band in the world. Period.. Any one who says differently just doesn't know what they are talking about. :P
bom pra caralho 👍👍👍👍👍
High def free here on youtube, but they're selling the full package on standard def dvd. I already preordered but that still sucks hard.
I like the fact that he is playing on a 12 string electric guitar! :D
Easily one of their best songs
The audio improved greatly in this video !
This is awesome .. :)
My heart stopped for about 5 minutes and 13 seconds...
I just realised the bass is played a milli second after the guitars to make a bassy sustained sound.
W O K E
lol, you and the 31 people who liked this post are crazy
Kamizi Hahahaha what the hell
when i saw them last year that movie in the background tripped me the fuck out
Mastodon kicks ass! \m/
troy voice has improved a lot!
Nice vocals
Brann fucking slayed those drums
For me this is the best of the crack the skye album
Come to MA. Tour with tool. Would the world end?
Why do i see everyone talking about Brent's vocals. Troy is the one singing for most of the song. Shouldn't his voice be the subject of discussion?
@Stinkweasel1978 arguably the best lines of the song
@godmetal101 i thought so too. upon closer inspection, it's actually the Three Keyboard Cat Moon shirt. crazy shit.
@Scarecrow545 I think for the CD everything kinda faded together because they were going for more of a vague, ambient vibe. Honestly, I just like the sound of live performances more than studio recordings anyways. lol, even if Brent sounds like Kermit the Frog around 2:30. :P

240sxmetal yea he's the best player still alive, otherwise I'd say Peter Steele
This is so fucking awesome.
Awesome live performance! I can't wait to get the CD/DVD of this. On a side note, at 0:44...is that a Three Wolf Moon t-shirt that Brann Dailor is wearing???
Goddamn right!
Troy looks so damn EVIL when he sings but in person he's like the nicest most normal dude hahaha I FUCKING LOVE IT!!
MUSIC GODS
Holy fuck the guitars from 1:40 sound even better than the studio version
The mix on here sounds better than the one for the live version of Oblivion.
