- BNSF GP30 Rebuilds 2020-2021, Burlington Northern GP39M, BNSF GP39-3! The 1960s-era EMD GP30 continues to operate in freight service, and occasionally mainline service, sixty years later. Of course, the locomotives have been rebuilt, in some cases several times, so that they may continue to haul freight. Burlington Northern Santa Fe keeps their GP30 fleet upgraded and operating in the 21st Century, reclassified as GP39M and GP39-3, among other rebuilds. In Colorado, BNSF GP30 rebuilds served the Brush Subdivision east out of Denver, and occasionally operated west on Union Pacific's scenic Moffat Tunnel Route.

just saw one of the orange/black GP-30's today roll through Denison,Tx. behind a lash up of three other newer EMD or GE units at the front on a mixed freight....... really cool to see and it still looked new and shiney.....😁😁

1:16 1532 was involved in a yard derailment, now it's repaired and in the H4 paint scheme

I remember the late 80s/early 90s, when Burlington Northern re-conditioned old GP30s and, I think, GP35s.
Have they been re-worked again since the 80s? Amazing that old units like these are still around and running in mainline trains.
Yes. Sometimes they get rebuilt two or three times.
What camera do you use to film?? It looks terrific
Thank you 😊 I use an ancient Canon GL2 with Mini-DV tape. The thought is to give the videos a rustic look.

on a side note, i admire how your filming style hasnt changed from your videos in the 80s/90s
