Nice refresher for me. Had to replace about 6 rears ago on my 03 Tundra after I had steering rack replaced. Shop obviously turned steering wheel while the rack was unhooked. I used a $30 aftermarket part off EBay which is now broken. Will use aftermarket again since OEM is $300.

Thanks for explanation. My toyota horn works when parked and slower than highway speeds. Highway speeds the horn doesn't work. Is this clock spring? Sometimes airbag light takes a moment to turn off and cruise control will not work.

@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair 2000 Tundra, Horn works intermittently, cruise and air bag light fine, When it does work, only parts of the wheel will activate it and not always the same place??
I see you didn't check the black ground wire on the horn switch which connects to the the ground is the center of the steering wheel shaft check for continuity there!

(The mechanic) did the rack and pinion and broke this part.He says this has nothing to do with it!!!
Does a bad clock spring always go along with bad cruise and air bag problem? I only have intermittent hor, cruise and airbag are fine.

william whitehead the whole steering column is grounded... the ground checked out ok
