Hey Panzer of the Lake. I hadn’t played War thunder in a week cause of a move so that’s why you probably haven’t seen me online. If you want to play some more, I’m in your friends list. I’ll probably be on like 2 hours from now. Nametag: Killcodemonster- just so you remember.
Thanks Phly, I try to take the old Yak-3 out for a spin at the end of the round just to show off my acrobatics, too bad you ended the show early xD. Earlier in the round when I was shooting you with the t-80 I was cautious about being over exposed so that's why I gave you two consecutive engine fires , then it cleared out and I got closer. Can't believe im in your video, a great ending to an otherwise crappy day :'). Thanks for cheering me up and for the good jokes -sabrimurat
larger turret is needed for more gun depression, to give the breach more room to move up tanks that are designed for offensive doctrines (looking at you russia) can be flatter, since they cant post up on the back of a slope while attacking anyway
Oh yes! That would centainly enrich this map. I never understood why they blocked them off in the first place. Whenever I am in my light tanks, this highway is a real pain, since I cant just ram through the highway siderail, I have to shoot EVERY rail to actually be able to cross the highway!
Did something happen with them highway overpasses in playtesting this map? Maybe make the overpass side walls high enough so you cant shoot over the side, but you can use the darn overpass.?
There's ammunition there bc they are inert rounds. No chance of exploding, at least IRL. Everything explosive is stored in armoured wet stowage bins in the Hull.
Right on. Loader usually sits with APDS round in his lap. It cannot explode. Gun fires he puts it on tray, grabs propellant bag from protected storage, places it on the loading bin, pushes it in and closes breach. "Up"
it has a big turret to give each crew member enough space to make their cup of tea in what ever traditional way their family has passed onto them through the generations
Phly the ammo you seemed concerned with in the turret is the APFSDS warheads, which consists of a sabot and a finned dart. There is no propellant or explosives in these warheads. These sabot rounds shouldn't detonate when hit (if modelled correctly), you should only lose the ammo. All of the gunpowder is stored in the cases in the lower hull or the bottom of the turret area. This is one of the benefits of two part ammunition; should a round pen the turret, the only time there should be propellant to combust is when the round is being loaded. Meanwhile, the HESH explosive warheads are stowed separately below the breach of the gun.
13:27 the most important piece of this video: proof that shells have a serious bug that persists. You notice the hit behind the tank as if dart traveled through it.
Not sure if it's been pointed out yet but the Brits use 2-part ammunition, so the head (ap penetrator) is stored in the turret, while the powder charge is stored in the hull below the turret. So you can load full ammo and as long as it's all apfsds, you can take a hit in the turret without an ammo detonation. If it hasn't been pointed out yet, now you know!
@@hazardous458 ah that seems dumb. They managed to map the difference between HEAT and APFSDS rounds for the Abrams' blowout panels, so hopefully they fix that at some point.
The L11A5 uses split ammunition handily stored within water jackets that drench the powder charge if they're ruptured and also double as tea storage vessels.

Phly, i have a good challenge for you!! Attempt #386!!!!!
Play the M48 in stock configuration on 7.7 br (old lineup) . You may use APHE in one battle if you want (170 pen), but make sure to play one game with APCR only. Good luck, you will need it. Requesting it before the sh!tst0rm of the stock syndrome
The reason why the turret is so big is because there is literally a kitchen in there so they can make tea while shooting unwanted invaders and they also have tables to hold their food and tea so they don't have to hold all that stuff in their hands.
It's funny, the shipyard map constantly reminds me of when the American military uses Zeebrugge as a terminal for tanks and heli's to transport them to Eastern Europe. When they do, it becomes a virtual American territory and is closed off with shipping containers. Kinda like the map.
Did you know that empty space around the storage behind the turret is to deflect APFSD rounds because of the laws of physics it will cause them to go like this -> -> [ \ ] Basically it will hit the outside metal and cause the round to rotate off axis and then deflect down or up causing it not to be able to pen the ammo storage area. Think about when you throw a pencil at a wall, if it is not flying perfectly straight the energy will cause it to de-accelerate in a way that is not forcing the energy at the point of the projectile. This is same reason the Leopard cheeks are empty. Maximus explained this on his channel recently.
