should the asu 57 be in there in your opinion? What would you replace? I don't think the KV 2 should be there, i know it's 'fun' to shoot someone with it but it's just a loading simulator for me.
Demose Aries nein. You guys need to put two and two together. The tank can’t move when your repairing because the crew actually has to leave the tank to get the toolbox so they could repair it. The toolboxes were always kept on the outside of the tank (usually in the back, on the sides, or on the side of the turret), and we should be happy with the repair times they give us now. Irl, a tank with a damaged transmission or breach could be out of action for roughly 6-48 hours depending on maintenance crew shift times, spare and or salvaged parts available, etc.

Attempt#77
Repairing on the move makes the most sense. I think the reason it immobilizes the tank for repairs is because Gaijin thinks that all crewman stop their tasks and make the repair. They should make it so if you repair while moving it'll take longer
Phly I admit that 4.3 Russia is fun but you must spread the word of 122mm Stalin lineup at 5.7, here is mine. Isu-122s (fastest loading 122 in game at a min of 15sec!), IS-2, ISU-152, Kv-2 or Kv-2 zis 6 and T 34-85. It is my derp lineup
@@marshmellominiapple Carpathians is really good for tearing apart Panzer IVs; so many flanking routes. You've also got the added benefit of decently firm ground so you can hit your too speed a bit easier.
On the repairing on the move subject, I completely agree with u that if it's not ur track, engine, driver, and maybe ur engine gets hot and stops working if ur radiator gets hit and u don't repair. I think that would be advantageous for all of us....
By the books challenge: Take out any tank/lineup of your choice. BUT you have to follow proper protocol, and bail out if your vehicle gets penetrated Attempt #3
For the event I've been using the PT-76B. It's slow, has no engine power or armour, however it has a HEAT shell that one shots M18s (Which is really important since all the US players are spamming M18s like nothing else) and a stabilizer. And the added bonus of the amphibious tank comes in handy occasionally believe it or not.
Yeah moving repair would be a nice option. Slower since one less pair of hands. Also tools and parts falling down and getting lost would slow the repair efforts. But it would be nice to have a slow repair started while trying to get some cover, then the repair gets faster as the driver lends a hand
So I know this'll probably get buried, but Phly, I started watching about three years ago, and something that kept me coming back is you have the reflex for this game, it's that sixth sense of knowing right when you're about to get clapped, but its a bit more than just knowing the map and timing, in some videos you've even said "man I think a picked a bad spot" and then arty, atgm, or bombs start hitting you, before you've even fired a shot. also, you're a hell of a lot smarter than a lot of other popular gaming youtubers, to the point that it isn't just being good, ya just know, ya know? anyways, keep it up, I look forward to your videos.
On the topic of repairing on the move, yes but it would take 1.5 the time to repair because of realism purposes the suspension on most tanks was sub-optimal meaning a lot of shaking while trying to repair.
I've wondered about mobile repairing for a while. Considering you have to make each crew members repair skill higher for the collective repair time, it would make sense if they could repair things individually since they have the skill. Unless a crew member specific to a certain part that needs repairing is dead.
4:55 i personaly think if a component that makes u imobile should be repared while u stoped, but things such breach, canon and things that dont affect mobility should be repaired on move. Seems fair.
if its something unessential like a machine gun or a viewport then repairing on the move is fine, however, if it is the main cannon or something external then it can be fixed on the move.
5:06, I think you should be able to but you would have to use a crew for the duration of the repair. This way you have to sacrifice loading/gunning(is that a word?) if you are low on crew and there is still a penalty for being shot.
Immobilization while repairing adds a strategic element (if you dont have movement stuff damaged). "Do I go behind cover now or do i try to repair quickly before"
The repairing of other parts on the move other than engine and tracks sounds like a good idea. But my idea to balance it is that either the commander or loader is ”out repairing” so that means if your commander is dead then the loader has to get to work wich would mean you would get slow fire rate at the cost of hiding and repairing same time. If the loader and the commander got shot in the foot and died to outbleeding in like 2 seconds then either your gunner or driver gets to work.
I could see being able to repair things like the horizontal turret drive, machine guns, and probably the main gun on the move, but maybe have it repair a little slower than if you were completely still to show some difficulty in the tank shaking around.
the brief bit on the side of a P-38 spinning in the air for no reason made me laugh. You also keep me wanting to get better vehicles in war thunder so I can break out of the BR 1-1.7 matchmaking with better tanks
It feels like they changed turret rotation speed of 94 Km Zis 12. Im pretty sure it was way faster before the latest patch. It used to be best Russian AA but now i cant catch up with planes. Turret as slow aa Yag 10's...
I wish i could repair specific parts instead of repairing everything at once, ik that some things finish repairing before other parts, but i would love to choose wich one.
On the topic of repairing on the move, you shouldn't have to restart the repairs over again if you stop the repair to move. It's not like the modules would break themselves again. For instance, you repair for 15 seconds out of a 30 second repair, then stop it to move back further into cover, it should be 15 seconds left, since you already fixed half of the repair time, and it's not like you got shot again.
OMG the Pe8 5t Bomb is amazing. You can see that beast with your bear eyes from a distance and the blastradius... I love it... Half the town ... gone...muhahaha
Hey Phly, I wonder if you've ever tried 'Hide HUD' (alt+Z by default), it removes all the indicator and gives you the best historical experience, challenging but fun. Try this in some battles, kill enemies as many as possible, and NO firing on teammates.
If War thunder were to add that to the game in the future, it would be a trade off repair time for mobility (lets say 30s repair time stationary becomes a 60s repair time when on the move) because the tanks don’t have that kind of suspension to keep the crew stable to to do the job faster so i would say that a pretty good balance if it were to happen
I feel like if repair on the move (for internal components) was implemented it should be that while you're on the move the repair timer should spike significantly and drop significantly when you stop cuz when you are in motion everything is bumping around and its difficult to be accurate and precise. USSR BTR 152A at 3.0 is possibly the best anti air in the game. 221 air kills in 170 battles and only 67 deaths. The T34-57 is currently one of the most played tanks in the whole game especially as it is now 4.0. I always get on better with the ETZ myself.

I've been using US 4.7-5.3. M18 GMC (opt for black cat if you got it), M19, M4A2 (76), M4A3 (76), M4A1 (76). I haven't properly leveled my aircraft so I'm using a 3.7 hellcat (i think). What's surprised me the most about this line up is that I almost never get assists and always get kills. Every mark of distinction for the event I've gotten 6 kills, 23 kills and then usually finish with wins/caps.
I think that repairing on the move might affect game balance, allowing you to maneuver out of the way of trouble while repairing. But maybe so long as the driver isnt repairing anything, you could do it. Interesting idea for sure though
I like your thought on repairing on the move, but maybe ( most likely ) there should be a longer repair time to compensate, and maybe also you can only go at a certain speed to not have comrade get squashed by suddenly braking. I think that it could vary from tank, and it could be an extra crew skill maybe.
yes it makes sense to repair on the move, but remember even if this is a game the tanks are not really that stable on the move. they bounce alot so doing repairs would be really difficult while standing still the tank is more stable and repair would be faster
