My guitar has this exact issue so now I know how to fix it, Thank you sooooo much
You're welcome 👌
Same issue! Thank you for the help!👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you! Just ordered on Amazon and should be here in a month or so. My last fully working normal guitar finally quit going into overdrive.
You're welcome, Zeppy. Why does Amazon take a month to ship?? In any case, please drop me a comment to let me know how the repair went!
Hola. Yo tengo la misma guitarra y la misma falla. Gracias a ti se exactamente la raíz del problema. Saludos desde Ecuador! Nuevo seguidor!
I have two guitars with problems (probably tree) all of them are guitar hero models and not rock band, one of them is activating with minor tilt, and the other has the same problem than yours but not as bad ( i can activate star power if i tilt the guitar and hold it tilted for a few seconds) i wonder if i can locate the sensors in it and maybe replace it.
Hey! We just fired up our XBox360 Rock Band after 5 years in storage and its the same problem on 2 guitars. I’ll open up them up over the weekend and see what’s what. Thanks for the video!
Follow along with my video, Carlos, and it should be a snap! 😊
@@VestigialVoiceI took apart the guitar and found the board that the ball tilt switches are soldered to. Once I disconnected the board I was able to check continuity across the switch. Sure enough, no matter hard I shook the switches, the contacts never closed. Got new ones on order from Amazon, 100 of them for $10. Glad you posted that video. I was considering buying new guitars.
@@CarlosNMLobos1996 Awesome! 👏
My Hofner Bass for RB: Beatles on Wii does the opposite. Automatically triggers OD as soon as meter is half full. I’m gonna try this fix. Thanks!!
You may not even need to solder. I would start by repositioning the tilt switch to prevent it from accidently triggering. If that doesn't work, you may have adhesion of those metallic beads. In that case, purchase and install a new set.
I just wired up a new button to the board and drilled a hole in the body to create a physical Overdrive button works great
That's cool, aussie 👍
Or yyou could just press the select button which is right next to the strum switch. No need to add redundancy
@@YankeeCherokee Of you can add whatever you like to your instrument because you own it? It's only redundant if it doesn't get used.
Tons of people find the select button awkward.
The only controller that ever really got it right was the GH5 version
Hey, great video. I dont have any idea how to solder though. But anyways, my guitar activates the star power on its own, or its incredibly sensitive i could say. A slight tilt activates it, so that would suggest that the sensors arent dead at least. Do you know if theres a fix for this? Thanks😊
Oh yeah. Your tilt switch sounds fine, but it sits on the board in such a manner that it triggers easily with the way you hold the guitar. A subtle repositioning of your tilt switch will fix that. You won't even need to solder for your adjustment!
Thx just the solution I was looking for I'll try it out
How do you know when it needs a change or justment? I have a guitar with the same problem and although I already ordered the parts I don't know if I can do anything to repair it before soldering
You'll have continuity if the tilt switch is upright and you will lose continuity if the tilt switch is upside down.
My GH5 guitar cant activate with tilt
I actually just broke out my ps3 with my rock band guitar last night. Had a blast. Went to play today and after the second song it just died. I figured it was the batteries so I changed them. No luck. It's not turning on. I verified I have 4.4 volts at the battery block and at the incoming power supply to the board with the switch turned on of course. I have no idea where to go from here.
Anybody know how to fix a dead Rock Band 1 guitar?
I could really use a tutorial
If it’s dead I would open it up and clean it out. Also look for a swollen compositor. If it is a compositor you might be able to change it.
