Thank you. I just found a Singer 737 machine curb side. I saw it and the car brakes just went into action. I grabbed it , put it in the car and came home. Now I'm trying to figure out how to use it. I sew, but my machine doesn't have this type of bobbin and I was almost thinking of passing it on. Then I thought, no, this machine needs someone who's going to appreciate it and that's me, so let's find someone to show me how to wind the bobbin and there you were. YIPPEEE, now I'm going to play with my new adopted machine. Keep inspiring.
Listen. I received a Singer 636 several years ago as a gift from my mother in law. When I received it I brought it home and tried many many attempts to wind the bobbin and had no luck. Even went and found the .pdf manual and used it. Instructions are very bad and vague on the machines in case anyone thinks getting a manual will help. It doesn't. Anyway, I gave up and put the machine up and planned to get a new one instead. Every once in awhile I pull it out and try again to figure it out. Today I need a machine and was looking at buying a new Janome cause they're the quietest machines made with a heavy duty flywheel. I still am going to buy it. But I decided to sit down and at least give my best effort one last time. I stumbled upon this video and I have to tell you this, IT WORKED and I finally got it! I ran several pieces to set the tension. I don't have the tension completely figured out yet but I at least have a working machine and don't have to buy a temporary machine to use. Thank you for this video!!!
wow! Thank you so much! I bought 635 model in Goodwill and it's work! But I didn't know how to bobbing works. I appreciate so much that you showing for us. Wishing you all the best in your business!
thank you so much. I acquired this machine a couple of years ago and had no idea how to wind the bobbin. Finally I decided to look on TH-cam and voila, your video is clear and so very helpful. Thanks a million!
Grazieeeee era da tanto che cercavo come mettere il filo nella bobina!!!! Ho una macchina Singer 744, ancora più vecchia della tua, credo. Hai salvato la mia macchina!!!❤
Ahhhh. A fellow kiwi with the same machine! I just came to watch to get my fix of the auto-reel bobbin mechanism. An amazing innovation that I’m sad is now a relic of history 😔
You're a legend! Thank you for this! Ive been trying to find a video that would help me as I have a singer 930 machine ATM and this is the exact way to go about winding the bobbin! Thank you !!
My first machine was a TOL Golden Touch'n'Sew. I only had it for 15 years before a plastic gear broke and I couldn't get ot fixed. However the bobbin mechanism never gave me a moments trouble. It did spoil me to never want a standard metal vertical bobbin case again. I thought I would miss the "wind in place" feature, but it turns out a class 15 drop-in holds about 3 times as much thread so I don't have to rewind the bobbin more than once on a project.
This is my first time using a sewing machine and I'm awfully frustrated. I got the bobbin winded but every time i try to do anything from there, it's just a mess. whatever is happening from there when i try to do a stitch in a scrap piece, it's definitely not sewing . Pls send help I'm about to pull out my hair!
@@emr8957 I know you have already done this BUT, double check that the machine is threaded correctly. Make sure the bobbin winding mechanism is disengaged (I have forgotten on more than 1 occasion). And here is the kicker - happened to my sister on a machine she has used her entire sewing live. MAKE SURE THE NEEDLE IS IN CORRECTLY. My sister took her machine in and that was her issue.
@@monicabartlett6112 Hey there, I'm honestly not sure how to tell the needle is in correctly but I will check it out. Thank you! The rest I have checked over and over
I just stubbled onto your channel. I have and learned to sew on a Singer Touch and Sew 600 - I believe it was the first drop-in bobbin machine and I LOVE IT. The circles on the bobbin indicate the amount of thread; 2 yards (not sure what that is in meters), 5 yards and 10 yards. I saw your other video on Singer 631G and now I want one. The accessory storage and free arm - DANG!
Whew! I found a 758 at a thrift and got it all fixed up, but I've never used a top loading machine before. Even though mine still has the manual in good shape, it's better to see it in motion. It's not as difficult as I worried!
Do you have a link for parts i have a 708 and a Futura 1000 are the bobbin cases compatible as the futura bobbin case broke and i am struggling to get another as dont know the part number we are in scotland
I'm old enough to remember when Singer meant quality and innovation. What a loss and how awful how one single greedy person can destroy so much. Singer, GE, the list goes on and on.
Very useful information. My sister’s singer 750, bobbing turns but needle doesn’t pick up the thread. Could you please advice me with what sort of problem she is facing ? Thanks
Thank you! I use an old black singer with no reverse but i have 2 others this one is a singer 1411, and its bobbin is the same as yours id of never figured that out!!
Will you show how to replace the SINGER Bobbin Winder Lever on a model 635 please? The one you are working on before is much like my 635 and my level wont latch to secure the bobbin, I'm sure it needs replaced and I have found one just dont know how hard it is to replace. thank you in advance
I think I should mention I do not know how to use a sewing machine. So.... When I tried to thread the bobbin I held onto the "tail" wrapped around the footer screw, thus unable to thread the bobbin. I noticed when watching this video that was my mistake. A little something that could be mentioned in instructions for threading the bobbin. The "tail" should be left to be threaded onto the bobbin with the process. Thank you for the excellent video. I was able to see my mistake despite no verbal instruction on what was going to happen with the "tail".
thanks - that may be helpful..I have a slightly newer machine Concerto 2 so the mechanism is slightly different and at the moment all I'm getting when following instructions is the thread being wound underneath the bobbin...maybe the machine is faulty? I'll keep trying but having done it 20 times now I've nearly got through a reel of cotton - haha. Where are the sewing machine fairies when you need them?
Thank goodness I found you!!! I have a Singer 640 and the bobbin set up looks exactly like this one! My bobbin is no longer threading or turning at all on its own. When I try to wind it, it remains still. I've gone over the manual instructions, and have it on A & K settings with the stitching at 3 just as it says. I successfully did it once but then while doing a straight stitch, my machine made a noise and will no longer turn my bobbin. What do I do? Please help.
Thank you sir . Your video help me a lot Regarding my singer 784. But now I am having a trouble regarding bobbin winding. The thread keep breaking up. Any suggestions?
Make sure the bobbins are in good condition and make sure it's threaded correctly. There could be a problem with the bobbin winding mechanism if you've already tried that.
I'm sorry, I have a problem with my 726. Can you help me? When I put an empty bobbin, it does not spin and the thread does not wind. What could be the reason? Can you help me? Thank you
Hi thanks for this lovely tutorial. I have a question though and simply cannot find the answer anywhere. How do I set up the machine with an already wound bobbin OR how do I 'thread' a prewound bobbin, i.e., catch the bobbin thread for a pre-wound bobbin to switch colors without having to wind an an empty bobbin every time I want to switch? Some tutorials for other type of machines explain the "fishing line and hooking the thread and catching the fish" method, but the Touch and Sew machine doesn't have the same components as those machines. Since it's supposed to auto-wind, is there a way to manually uptake the thread after inserting a wound bobbin? Thanks!
Thanks. I show one way of doing it here at about 2 minutes plus - th-cam.com/video/i82An-Uv9zk/w-d-xo.html. Place the pre-wound bobbin in the bobbin case and then with the needle threaded, turn the machine in operating direction one revolution until take-up lever comes to top position. Pull bobbin thread up with top thread. The process if very similar to a standard machine. I hope that helps.
Thank you so much for your great, detailed videos. I have inherited a singer 720 and cannot wind the bobbin. The little ‘target’ lever barely moves and doesn’t seem to move the bobbin holder and certainly doesn’t pick up the thread. Any suggestions would be gratefully received! Happy new year!
Thanks and happy new year to you too. If you can oil the shaft under the 'target' lever, that may help. Take a look at this video where the mechanism is shown. th-cam.com/video/nG205N6V14Q/w-d-xo.html

After the bobbin is wound you simply place your fabric under the presser foot and start sewing. You do NOT have to pull out the thread and cut it. Most Touch and Sew owners know that.
Yes I agree, if you're starting on the edge of the fabric, that is true. If you're starting to stitch away from the edge of the fabric then it's better to pull out the threads and cut them.
