However, Mike averages 1.6 offensive rebounds for his career, compared to Kawhi’s average of 1.2. When you also factor in that Mike is a two guard and Kawhi is a small forward, you have to give Mike the edge in rebounding. Also, your position versatility view is skewed simply because the examples of Kawhi guarding 4’s and 5’s are on the perimeter. Yeah, he’s guarding Giannis on the perimeter. Mike could easily guard 1-5 on the perimeter like Kawhi does in this era. But Kawhi isn’t guarding Giannis in the post. There’s no way Kawhi would stand a chance guarding 4’s and 5’s in Mike’s era. Barkley, Malone, Ewing, Olajuwon, Robinson, Shaq, and others, would make barbecue chicken with Kawhi. And if we’re being honest, Kawhi didn’t dominate on defense the way Mike did. Mike has 6 seasons with 200 steals or more, including back to back seasons with 200 steals and 100 blocks. Kawhi has never done either one of those feats once. There is a reason that Jordan was guarding Magic,Drexler,Thomas and other great guards. The one who had real problems with shifty guards was Pippen because he didnt have the fast lateral movemaned that Jordan had.
Based on just peak yrs, MJ has edge overall esp because he let his team to more championships while playing at the highest level on both offense & defense consistently. Bulls had garbage centers, so MJ had to play lots of defense. In modern era, then I say Kawhi is best.
Sore subject. MJ is not even better than Pippen. Kawhi is better than MJ. Kawhi doesnt have the aggressive rules. He doesnt have hand checking, He guarding in a 3 point era Thats how he made his name when offense was taken as a priority. He's also a clean defender, not dirty like Draymond MJ has nothing on Kawhi defensively. Kawhi was so great defensively teams found out ways to remove him from games by sacrificing their best players letting others score. "Is Kawhi hurting the Spurs defensively?" Don't let bully you, Kawhi is better defensively at every aspect. When Bulls needed a stop, Pippen was the guy. Despite MJ being great. Kawhi literally everytime he plays in this era people expect him to always play defense. KD, Giannis, Jokic, Embiid, Steph, LeBron and other greats in this era do not guard the best players on opposing teams. For instance, Clippers 213 era where said to be great defensively. If they are all great defensively why must Kawhi guard the best player on the opposing team? That's like the King going into the battle first whilst the puns are last to fight. You also didn't look at era, the game is different and it is harder in this era with the floor spread. Kawhi has literally guarded Luka, Kobe, LeBron, KD, Steph, Giannis and many greats of this generation. Kawhi was so great defensively it even affected the future draft, every player 6'5 - 6'8 they say could be the next Kawhi.

@goatcasthoops Yes I do. Now. FOR CONTEXT. Look at Kobe Bryant's clip about Tracy McGrady. Kobe BEAN shared his perspective on these matchup challenges. I believe that Allen Iverson was his most bewildering because Phil Jackson got tired of his guard's inability to stay in front of him. ON topic though. Many PROMINENT PLAYERS of that era KNEW that Tracy McGrady had the ability to matchup with most of those high scoring guards and wing forwards at 6'11". Then he would GIVE THEM SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT ON THE OTHER END OF THE COURT. He was A SLOW BURNING COMPLETE AND COMPLEX MATCHUP NIGHTMARE.😎💪

Jordan not better on the nail or on ball or navigating screens it too the greatest off ball mover to shake him.kwahi can gaurd 1-3 at a great level while kwahi could only gaurd the two I seen him try to gaurd shifty gaurds it never end well and I seen him gaurd a wing type player like magic and magic got the better of him .yeah Jordan get steal and block that because he gambled like crazy putting him out of position like stop it kwahi is clearly better kwahi so good at gaurding 1-3 that he make people like camp out in the corner for time out for 6 straight possessions don’t give that 90s bs and 2016 and 2017 he was clearly the best offensive and defensive player on his team and won dpoy while being the best offensive player like pippen was alway better than Jordan.he not in that elite class with a peak pippen peak khawi or peak bron stop overrating this man defense.
@@akwesirobinson1710 Pippen was never better than Jordan in defense. There is a reason that Jordan always went in crucial times to guard players that Pippen couldnt handle like Penny,Hill,Miller.
Mostly agreed
I was thinking this video looks great because it is about Defense. Then I saw LeCheatcode James. Ah fuck it.
I had to because I had people telling me he’s better at it than Jordan
@@goatcasthoops Yeah, I understand how people can say a lot of things, we all have our own opinion.
Sore subject. MJ is not even better than Pippen.
Kawhi is better than MJ.
Kawhi doesnt have the aggressive rules.
He doesnt have hand checking,
He guarding in a 3 point era
Thats how he made his name when offense was taken as a priority.
He's also a clean defender, not dirty like Draymond
MJ has nothing on Kawhi defensively.
Kawhi was so great defensively teams found out ways to remove him from games by sacrificing their best players letting others score.
"Is Kawhi hurting the Spurs defensively?"
Don't let bully you, Kawhi is better defensively at every aspect.
Thinking kawhi is better than MJ on defense has something to do with mental illness
kawhi by far wth
I said at their peaks Kawhi was the better defender
@@goatcasthoops Seems like you haven't seen enough of MJ and what he did on defense. Even if we give Kawhi a slight edge defensively he is still a level below MJ overall
Exactly, if you watch to the end I say MJ was the overall better defender and Kawhi’s peak was slightly better
Kwahi > mj
MJ not even close
Or Jure Holiday vs Marcus Smart
Will work on those in the near future

Finally off that bum and you try to compare defensive abilities between these two, seriously.
Jordans on ball defense is overrated . He gambled way too much and remember seeing many high level ball handlers making him pay for it. Guys like penny, AI and even grant hill would get by him.
He did gamble A LOT
Kawhi a better defender ain’t even close to me, I think Jordan’s defense was overrated wasn’t even the best defender on his team and wasn’t even the second best defender on the second repeat, he was great in a The weak side help which Phil Jackson’s petered to play him cause he was quick decisions when gambling but as on ball defender, he was no slouch but to light in the ass even check the first finals match when mj tried to guard magic the scoring report said they preferred mj on him instead of pippen because mj wasn’t stopping magic get to his spots,
Telling me a kawhi leaned in era where’s is harder to play defense has more steals than fouls, bugger hands than Shaq and now throw in the rules where he can hand check and be rewarded for not moving his feet come on now, yes he was more versatile defender, he’s guarded guys in the post which mj was not good or least as good as kawhi is
I think Jordan was just as good overall but Kawhi on ball was better
Pippen and Kawhi?
@@raymundfernandez4172 that’s on the list and coming soon
Are y’all crazy he not better than no kwahi leanord Jordan not better than lebron or pippen as well not better than Toney Allen now you saying he better than kwahi
Kawhi one of the most overrated defenders in history.
You think he’s overrated?
@goatcasthoops He's not very versatile. Compared to say Ben Wallace or Draymond Green who at their peaks were guarding 1 to 5.
Not good.
Both are great defensively. But i think Kawhi has a slight edge in terms of versatility.
I agree

🤔
Kawhi is better, I’ve watched them both
I said his peak was better
So you think a young healthy Kawhi swapped out for MJ next to 4th year Pippen and Grant goes on a 3-peat run? Nah. and NAH
I've seen them both and it's MJ all day. Get your eyes checked.🙄
I said overall MJ was the better defender for his career but at his peak, which was unfortunately just a few years, Kawhi was able to lock guys up a little better, Jordan was great but gambled on defense quite a bit
@I.am_Groot take your emotion out of it and please explain to us why NOT?! We're talking pretty much the same skill-set in a bigger and stronger body
Do Scottie Pippen vs Tracy McGrady.
Do you think McGrady was close to Pippen defensively? I’m down to look into this
@goatcasthoops Yes I do.
