7:51 oh Viktorija Semyonova 😊 you made an excellent job of painting that exercise with oil pastels. I've just received the Sennelier 36 color wooden box of jumbo sticks. Your oil pastel techniques are great and show experience. A new fan of your channel here.
Ooooh, these would be wonderful for working on a bigger scale (durr 😳, obvious comment!). I actually like the bright colours BUT your "Helen Cryer Landscape Set" (got a great ring to it huh?) you put together was spot on. Definitely a seascape leaning landscape set which is exactly what I love, also living so close to the beach. The colours you chose are all colours I also enjoy and use from my 72 set. Do you know, I've never thought of getting some Gamsol and using it to experiment with my oil pastel art practice! I was particularly impressed by the effect it gave you on the bowl and know I could put that method to good use on some of my impressionist Master Studies where I can never seem to reproduce certain effects. Anyhoo, after another week being stuck in bed, it's been ace to wake up to this vid on my Friday morning of boring bed. Have a great weekend 😊
I'm so sorry you've had a bed week! Hope you can get out and about a bit more next week! I like the ring of that set too 😁 I did see on the US and Canadian Amazon that Paul Rubens have also bought out an Ocean set and Portrait set of the Jumbos, which have quite a few of my favourites in!
I love your dogged pursuit of experimentation & progress! As an old lady with ADHD, this is an elusive trait. 😂 But you’ve inspired me - I’m pulling out my oil pastel pad. I want to experiment with some winter landscapes. Thank you!
I really like your choices for an ideal set. I wonder why more companies don’t do this. There’s a lot less pigment in blends and pastels than in strong primary colours and then the more natural dark colours work very well alongside pastels and muted tones. Like Unison pastels come in some really lovely sets that work so well. I wish other companies could offer at least a few sets like this. For me I can’t stand sets with a lot of purple and bright pink and orange and such in. I have so many purple art supplies I could give to someone (who really likes purple).
I found out after making the video that Paul Rubens have released an Ocean set and a Portrait set in the jumbo size, which include lots of the colours I like! I agree - I have a lovely little landscape set from Unison Pastels, and I always have colours I barely use from other sets (most of the reds, oranges and yellows!)
I absolutely love this art work, your art skills are so versatile! I’m watching this after midnight and I’m wanting to go and break open the box of sennellier oil pastels I’ve had tucked away for months and just play around! The collage is so enticing too. I love messing around with glue sticks. It sparks the inner child. So joyful! Thank you for another great video! ❤
Hi Helen , another lovely vid . I'm taking this oportunity to thank for all your videos in recent times and send love and Christmas wishes to you and your family . Mike in Exeter xx
I love what you did with them. What a fun approach! So, when mine arrive (you temptress), I'm going to try a little surgical alteration and insert a bit of the contrasting color, or white, to mute them down a bit after blending. Now I'm thinking about softening some old bright colors and mixing them to make swirly whopper sticks. Filthy fingernails, here I come!😮
@@helencryer I have the Sennelier jumbo oil pastels. I was sooo tempted to buy them. I have like 5. They are just too large. The tips are like 5 times bigger than the regular oil pastel, and they don't fit well with regular sized subjects so you end up wasting pigments, painting beyond the lines, and making a bit of a mess. It's much easier to paint with the normal sized oil pastels. Just my personal experience though...
Do you think they'll take it?!?! 😁 I actually saw after making this video, that they have bought out an Ocean set and Portrait set in the US and Canada!
@helencryer I'm sure they will consider it since landscapes are a popular subject matter. Perhaps they are taking time to consider the best colors for the landscape set, we can only hope!!
I don’t know if you ever give feedback to the companies that send you products, but if so you may want to mention that the label of Oil Paint is a bit misleading. I would read it and think they are Oil Paint Sticks which are definitely not pastels, they’re oil paint that will eventually cure once exposed to air eventually. While oil pastels won’t ever dry entirely. So they’re kind of miss labeled. Other than that though, they look like fun! Thanks for sharing all the fun art stuff! 😊
Yes, I agree, but they actually emailed me pointing this out and asking me to mention it, which I did. Maybe they'll change packaging on their next batches.
@@helencryer sorry i kinda missed that part so i was misinformed until i looked at the comments really not your fault at all i just was multitasking too hard at the time lol i think i will watch it again with the knowledge i have now and it won't be as confusing also the art in this video is sooo good i love the paper cutting art you are doing rn

• Amazing work-well done!😀

Hi Mike, that's so nice - thank you! I hope you have a lovely Christmas too!
I love the fruit bowl! I’m going to have to try it!
Thanks! That's great!

Oooo - this sounds wonderful messy fun!!!
I have two of the jumbos…in white!!…to go with my regular size set!😉
Most useful 'colour'!
Another informative video. Great picture. Thanks
Thank you!
Great video. Jumbos not for me but look fun.
Thanks! Yes, definitely fun!
Hi Helen. What is the difference with oil pastels and oil paint sticks? It appears they lay the same. Just curious, thanks
oil paint sticks dry and oil pastels don't
@@wonderfulmessylife852 ahhhh, thank you :)
Yes, that's correct!
Jumbos are nice to have but I'm learning the hard way that they are difficult to be used
Thanks for the feedback - in what way do you find them difficult?

Thanks ever so much - it's useful to hear. Yes - I wouldn't say these are for detailed work!
I sort of feel like this video is for Paul Rubens, hint hint!! 😂 Make a jumbo oil pastel landscape box!!

@@helencryeroops sorry I totally missed you saying that. 🤦🏻♀️ they still look like fun though! 😊
No worries at all!
Luminous yellow is probably a mistranslation of the skin tone called “jaune brilliant,” which is French for “brilliant/bright yellow.”
Ahh... thanks!!
The main info that they 'forgot' to print on the box... Sennelier Dupes 😂. Same shape, colour names, colour nr, pigment info and lightfastrating.
Yes they are, which is why I also mention the differences between them.
sorry the packaging on this made me confused throughout the whole video they should change that
Yes, they are aware, and emailed me about it, which is why I mentioned it in the video.

No, I agree - it's definitely confusing packaging, and no worries - I definitely wouldn't expect people to watch every second of videos!!
