My grandfather use to work at the tram depot at edge Lane Liverpool he was a fitter and turner most of my uncles work there also but it was buses in there day I can just about remember my dad taking me on them when I was very young before they were discontinued but the tram lines were still in place for a few years after when I left school I was going to work has an appearance in the bus depot but I failed my interview my uncle said come back and you should be OK but my mums brother got me a job with plessey telecoms on exchange construction which paid more money at I love it you didn't a bit of everything from unloading to lorry to bilding the iron work then wiring it all up but then a got a job with the GPO I did most out side jobs but to get my promotion I ended up at the other end of the network testing the telephone poles to make sure my work mates were safe and the public I am now retired after 40y it seems life is mapped out for you
There is a revisit of this on TH-cam called Blackpool Tram Revisited Salvage Squad and on that they say what is wrong with the controller It should be on this very channel

I wonder what caused the initial controller failure. My first thought is of moisture build-up on or in the mica ring. Could be wrong.
