Couple of things they're wrong on in the episode tho. There's actually another 10 trams at the time that had accelerator and brake in one handle. And there was actually another working coronation in the fleet.
Shame no one could work out the control unit, its a simple resistive pick up unit its funny how complex its being made out when really its far from it. But i will say modern pwm DC motor controllers have a fail safe so that they fail the motor is not stuck wide open seems thats the coronations fault ghostly like throtthle respone occasionally running away instead of stopping decent engineer could have sorted that 10 mph full speed problem but with out a contactor and dead man switch its a lethal weapon Build replica battery tram no 3 that died in 1930s on south shore football pitch easy enough with modern car tech from a scrap yard.

I cant stand aligned screw heads its gonna have miss matched torque settings pleases the eye but not the mind.
