I especially liked the "Google Cloud Server Setup" section. Specifically, these tips:
1. enable receiving HTTP(S) traffic
2. change the disk to be standard 30GB
3. too much network egress can still cost money
they charge you even if its in free tier?

@@ssportslivetvstreaming The egress free-limit is only 1GB (yup, GB, not TB), so even if you think your VM is sitting there idle, all the attacks from the outside, especially when you have opened up HTTP/HTTPS and have installed Wordpress or other applications sending out data (when requested), that 1GB will be used up in a short time.
For my re-visit to Google Cloud, I just put a simple "no" as output (so two bytes + headers wasted of egress) for the custom error pages for Apache (specifically 403 and 404 which will be hit many times)

Never ever ignore your free trial account without closing billing, else your card will be debited automatically after 90 days.. I did that mistake and hope no one else does the same.

Great video. Would really appreciate a remake of it with the latest interface on the GCP site, which has changed a little since you made this. I'm a bit confused over making the firewall rules, so have not been able to login to Hestia after installing it. As I said, some things seem to have changed since this video. Even if you added a 'quickie' just to point out the new things to look out for. Also, using Ubuntu 22.04 LTS? differences/dangers? Oh - and found out the hard way not to upgrade version according to the Ubuntu prompts - it breaks the Google addons to the package. Need to use Google's own updater.

Not going to let this one go unused either.
There's still value to this guide for when Google finally come to the party, but I agree, 4 CPUs, 24GB RAM and 200GB storage from Oracle is pretty compelling.....
@@BatesonBen Yes, until you find they suspend or terminate free tier accounts randomly for no whatever reason. Been running mine for 1 year and a half and boom, my website and Nagios got axed. Going back to google. Oracle free tier is mostly a trap to get you in and make you pay.

Really Nice tutorial. I was thinking if we could setup cloud flare and SWAP to increase the RAM size. My other website get around 3k daily visit and planning to move my site to free tier.
Question: if the bandwidth is around 1TB, then will this method work? The front-end will be NextJS so during build time, it would hit the WordPress.

Brilliant tutorial. I didnt even know what Hestia CP is, that really gives me a lot more capabilities. But would I be right in assuming, you could do all this with a Docker Compose file, is that true.

Your Free Tier e2-micro instance limit is by time, not by instance. Each month, eligible use of all of your e2-micro instance is free until you have used a number of hours equal to the total hours in the current month

Technically the compute free tier service of gcp can be free lifetime (as of this comment)

I have the same question that I ask on every other video (same type except you used cpanel like thing?) I have 2 datacenter in my region. Is this method only applicable for USA (since default things are US-America, & back those days most servers were from the west). Can I select my region's data center and still get free thing?.
correct, only the USA regions mentioned @1:53 are 'always free' so be sure to select the correct US server to take advantage of free tier.

A little latency but not too bad, could try combining with cloudflare caching to get some local caching which would help too

FIXED: For some unknown reason, the "wget" package is installed but not working so I had to reinstall it using the command "sudo apt-get install wget" (without the quotes). Then proceeded to installing hestia and everything is working fine. Hope it'll help someone.

Hi, someone please help me. I installed wordpress with Hestia Cpanel and all went ok until I tried to import a starter template with blocksy them autoscript.
blocksy troubleshooting steps for this issue is to increase max input time and time limit in my server php settings but I have tried all google steps to increase these to values which are defaulting to 60 seconds.
I found many php.ini files in my vm Ubuntu install including the hestia directorty and modified all to have these values increased to 300 and even after modifying all php.ini files the site info in wp still showing 60 for both. this is very frustrating.
I hope someone understands and knows how to fix this, Hestia was an alleluia until this.

I have an issue from my side after following the exact same steps. I created a VM on google cloud and hestia. I also configured my domain and authenticated on sendinblue as well. The issue is that I am able to receive emails and just not able to send any email. I can "technically" send email but I never arrives to the receiver. I ask for help with my issue!

Edit 1: ok i never thought it could be this easy.
After successfully registering my domain on sensinblue, i went to zoho mail (free tier) and enter the details for my domain.
Everything working super smooth and the best part, my emails do not land in promotional folder or spam folder which itself was a deal breaker for me!

I get this after clicking enable Compute Engine "Compute Engine API requires a project with a billing account." I thought this was free
I also ran into this with the free Google Maps API -- despite the docs **specifically stating** that no billing account was required, a billing account was required. I'm guessing they don't really have the ability to completely fence off the free services from the things you could escalate to and rack up charges.
Any free service in the net out there requires that you provide a credit card info for the free trial period. I believe that's the reason why they require you to do this first. for the case of GCP, it makes sense because your website csn start small with very low traffic but if you are successful your traffic will hopefully increase to a point where you will start making money out of visitors, at that point you will be able to pay for the extra charges resulting from the increased traffic. But google offers that free tier for startups because we all know startups don't make money until they are an acclaim business so at least it gives you that courtesy of no charge until successful which can take days, months or even years if your product is just not what people are into 🤷♂️

Google cloud is messy as hell... take a look at the Free Tier provided by Oracle instead.. Oracle Free Tier includes 200GB disk space, two e2 VMs, four Ampere A1 cores with 24GB RAM (using up to four VMs)... But I see you have covered it in an old video, so I really does not understand why you promote Google-crap at this time (fully understandable if this video was older than the one covering Oracle Free Tier)

If you wants to setup email as he mentioned with sendinblue you follow the video he mentioned, you would be able to send emails however you can't receive emails you have to open a port. As he added firewall rule 8083. You add one with 80,443,143,993,110,995,25,465,587
Personally I'm not an expert on this, i googled allot of stuff and saw that in the oracle video he didn't just add 8083 he added all of that
Nobody should be using port 25 anymore, anyway! But you should be able to open 993, 995, 587, 465 (all for secure email).
Question: Since Hestia is running under TCP, how secure is it?
