  • Vader discusses the time Shawn Michaels started yelling at him mid-match at SummerSlam 1996 and the incident that caused it. Full shoot ➤ TitleMatchNetwo...
Produced, licensed & distributed by Title Match Media LLC. Enjoy the full Vader (1998) shoot interview on our streaming subscription service, TitleMatchNetwo....
Title Match Media LLC digitally remastered the original raw footage, including color correction and advanced audio editing specifically for this TH-cam release.
If you watch closely during that WWF SummerSlam 1996 main event between Vader and Shawn Michaels, Shawn becomes visibly angry and starts yelling at Vader! It was pretty obvious to fans especially since the audio picked up most of what Shawn was saying. Is this the moment that derailed Vader in WWF?
Also hear why Vader says the Gorilla Monsoon angle was the hottest thing in wrestling but was horribly mismanaged.

I used to work with Leon’s cousin and had planned to attend an In Your House PPV in Fresno in July 1998. When she found out that we were getting tickets that weekend she asked me to hold off until after the weekend. When I came to work Monday, she informs me that she had spoken to Vader over the weekend and that tickets would be awaiting us at the Will Call window. We arrived in Fresno (2 hours away) the afternoon of the show and, sure enough, he had reserved 8 tickets for me and the group of friends I had brought over there (in 2 carloads). The tickets were in a roped off section around the camera well for the main camera that shoots the ring...probably 100 seats roped off in a sold out arena and only my group of 8 and maybe 5-6 others in the section. Needless to say, we kicked our feet up and had an absolute blast.
Thank you the the great day and fantastic memories Leon...I’ll always appreciate that kind gesture.
R.I.P. Leon White aka Big Van Vader

I attended his last match at WrestleJam I believe that was around 4 years ago? Got a picture and autograph with Vader. Extremely nice guy. Still huge/so damn strong and he got the win. Just so happy I was able to record the whole thing on my phone and upload it here for everyone to enjoy. No gimmicks, no money or shirts or whatever. Just to say thank you and preserve the match for free for everyone. Steamboat & Mr. Wonderful where hanging out with him there as well. Vader was also very nice to me on twitter answering a question on how Vader learned how to do something in the ring. I think it was his moonsault. I'll never ever forget those moments and be greatfull forever for them. Thank you so much Mr. Vader.

It speaks volumes to the professionalism of Vader that night. He could’ve and should’ve jumped up off mat and just broke Shawn in half in front of everyone, just broke character, disregarded the plans and hurt him for real in front of all those people. I saw one of those early house shows live against Michaels. It was a fairly balanced match and when you could sense the Michaels finish, Vader countered and crushes micheals with a stiff 2nd rope Vader bomb splash and cleanly pinned Micheals. The crowd reaction was huge for Vader and Micheals probably figured that cant continue and went on to ruin him.

I agree dude, wrestling was way better in the late 80s/early 90's. At that point WWF was still putting on shows in arenas that loaned themselves out for free and wrestlers weren't getting paid exorbitant amounts of money to "perform". Back then they were just regular working men who loved to test themselves in legitimate athletic contest. Nothing like the "puppets" of today. No, these men were reflective of a progressive moment in U.S history. One that spat in the face classism and created a melting pot for people of all walks of life to test their metal in the squared circle.
Nowhere else could you see such a clear picture of America represented through the face of its workers. With professions ranging from garbage men to circus clowns, business moguls to repossession officers, dentists to professional sportsman and U.S federal government employees a nation was united!
Back then wrestling still had its integrity and people didn't just create companies in hopes of making money.

Many wrestlers have been at the top but are then replaced by a younger and talented guy and they never quite reach that height again. To them they see these guys as a threat to their careers and the money they are making. It’s very sad but it’s the truth and that’s why a lot of the guys are insecure.

Once I found out he was jobbing to Shawn there was no way I was giving WWE the time of day in 96 especially with how great WCW was becoming.

Shawn was a real classless prick back in the day he definitely stepped on a lot of people's toes to keep his spot that's why im glad undertaker put a stop to his reign of terror at wrestlemania xv when it was rumored he wasn't planning on dropping the title to stone cold it's ironic that after he did all those horrible things to people in the wrestling business that he out of hypocrisy decides to turn his life around smh.
