That was great, you two are so good together, you both rock! I'm so happy I found your channel. I've been binge wathcing every day when I arrive home from work. I really like these Thai languages lesson videos. I hope you do more. Ta's hand movement with the tones is very helpful, and hilarious when she laughs after. I hope you do a lot more of theses Thai language video's. Love it.
Another excellent video Brad and Ta. I do find this helpful with tonal changes and how to put it in possible real life scenarios. Also I liked how you described the difference of how Thais would respond or ask questions based on their point of view. That would be something I would like to know more about also. Thanks for the lesson! :)
G'Day Martin Thanks for the feedback. We hope that we will be able to give a greater insight into Thai culture in this series also, Thai language and culture pretty much go hand in hand. So for us, combining the two is the best way to teach. Have a great day Brad & Ta
yes Brad it has stopped snowing. The weather this week finally got up to the upper 70s. The trees are finally starting to get the leaves back again. Will be nice see some green colors for a change.
Thanks again for the great tutorial I love Ka's infectious laugh keep em coming I'm a retired Aussie living in phuket and need all the help I can get maybe colours could be a good topic cheers Steve
Looking forward to your next instalments of Ta teaching Thai.... My wife and I intend to retire in Chiang Mai at the end of the year... will be in Thailand in June to sort out a few things prior to the move.
It's highly unlikely that I'll ever travel to Thailand but you're inspiring me to trying to learn the language and to be able to read and write in Thai. I don't expect to be fluent but to know a "tourist" level would give me a sense of satisfaction. Love your channel.
You Did very well Brad it is also fun to learn Thai especialy when the local thai's try to teach you and always lauching when whe farang pronounce it! sanoek mak mak (allot of fun) Have a great night and tommorow a wunderfull day Brad and Ta👍😊👍
Here in California my Thai wife taught me to say this: ภรรยาของฉันสวย Usually we were with her Thai friends and they would burst out laughing. My wife is beautiful. (She is) love the Thai culture.
Thanks so much for this. I've tried to understand your greetings but it's difficult to catch the right pronunciation. The spelling the way it sounds is great. I'll have to go back and check your 1st video out. There are many foreigners where I live and it's nice to at least say hello/goodbye to them in their language.
This is a great video. I really got a lot out of it. I love to visit Thailand but I don't lnow very much Thai, which can sometimes be a bit of a problem. I'm a new subscriber and watching all your videos now. =)
G'Day If you are thinking about moving here, I would highly recommend doing a language course once you're settled in Thailand. The more Thai you know, the better your experience will be. Take care Brad & Ta
Love that video, well explained. Interesting to notice that also in the Philippines similar greeting: "where you go", "Saan ka pupunta?", and "where you coming from?", "Saan ka galing?". However, in the Philippines you do not need to get to the details: Saan ka pupunta? Answer: "Diyan", meaning "there...." You do not need to be specific and a short answer is enough.
G'day .... I liked the vid, you guys have a teaching style that should catch on. One suggestion tho, Thai script as well as the English letters would give a better understanding of how Thai script goes together and the sounds of the Thai script
G'Day Sharon Welcome to Our Life Thai It's so nice to have yet another lady watching, our Channel is very top heavy with testosterone. 55 Have a great day Brad & Ta
Another very interesting video. You two make a great couple. Ta is so good at explaining how the language is not only spoken but also the rise and fall of the voice. That is very important in the Thai language and is very hard to master for those who only speak english. Thanks for sharing...
G'Day Brad, I think I will have to watch the video a few times just to learn the basics of it, yes learning a new language especially a tone based one like Thai is difficult (to say the very least)...meanwhile here is my word of the day...persevere!!..😅👍
Many thanks guys love yours video and learning thai i wish i could learn and keep it in stead of forgeting words lol take care guys and keep safe love to meet you to one day best wishes from the south coast nsw
Very enjoyable :) I especially like it, Ta, when you use your hand to help show inflection. Looking forward to my next lesson! Laura & Bobby Also if I may suggest for another series, the cultural differences of conversation. For example, something said that may be polite to Thai/English and taken differently by Thai/English. Brad, may I ask what "tai lak"??? means? You say it to Ta as an endearment I believe.
Hey Laura Thanks for your suggestion, it's something that we could perhaps cover as a video topic, but not as a series. We will put your idea on our list of video topics to cover. And Bangkokney is correct, "tee ruk" is most commonly translated into "darling". Take care Brad & Ta
fantastic. From the very little I know of Thai making phonetic English translations is extremely difficult so appreciate it very much. I don't think you can fully understand a culture without understanding the language so this is really helpful.
G'Day In this series, we not only want to help people learn some Thai words, but also help people to understand how Thais use language in their day to day lives and therefore their culture. Thanks so much for watching Take care Brad & Ta
"Sabai Dee Mai = How are you" If you are not happy or have something unhappy with your life, Thai does not say "Mai Sabai". This is because "Mai Sabai" means you are sick. You can say "Reoy Reoy เรื่อยๆ = so so" or "Mai OK = not OK".
Great ideas you two... basic everyday phrases are the way to learn. Questions and answers on anything is useful and helpful... a normal days conversation. Keep up the great vlogs we are all learning with you. Bushyboy Oz
G'Day Ewen So happy that you're enjoying the format. it is not just written, the correct pronunciation is 'krup' as mentioned above. as ta mentioned, thai people get lazy and one of the shortcuts they end up taking is not pronouncing the 'r'. does not mean it is correct nor something that should be learned/taught.
truth. but, man, when you grow up with a grandma who was a teacher and that shit don't fly none. kap? nope. kraaab (as kids are wont to drag words out)? nope. pronounce it right.
G'Day Sitsadee Nice to hear from you The video was titled Greeting Friends and neighbours. We are not speaking in a formal manner, simply sharing the style of language that is spoken within our village. It's like an Australian saying G'Day instead of Good Day, it may not be the most correct, but it's how the majority of the people in our village actually communicate. Appreciate your feedback Take care Brad & Ta

G'Day Bo Not sure how much we can teach you within 1 week, but we'll try. 55 Our email address is ourlifethai@gmail.com Look forward to hearing from you Take care Brad & Ta
Gday brad and ta , im doing a bit of a language thing on the net and it tells me the man says krupp as in sawadee krupp .It is very confusing why cant they just say gday 55555 ,ask ta how you say bloody sore back 555 out for another 2 weeks chon says i am not telling her the truth and she is right otherwise she would worry to much . You are correct thai language is very tonal and if you say some words in the wrong tone it can mean something different or so i have been told good video .
Hey Chris Sorry to hear that you're still not good. Hang in there. To me, the words for unlucky and beautiful are very similar, obviously it's only the tone that's different. So I've given up telling Ta that she's beautiful because she's starting to think that she's just incredibly unlucky. Hope that you're feeling better soon. Take care Brad &Ta
thanks mate yea its a bloody nuisence all the good weather for fishing will be gone by the time i get back to it seems to be getting better slowly dont know what it is had something similar 12 years ago but was a lot worse oh well keep punching take care .
Backs can be a tricky thing I have a bulging disk about 15 years ago and I couldn't even sit on a lounge for 18 months. I had to just lay on the floor every night when I got home from work. Most people will laugh when you say that you have a bad back, but they soon change their tune when it happens to them. :-)
yep thats for sure i had 2 buldging discs 12 years ago but this is no were near as painfull i was the same could not sit either , to sit in a car was agony for any distance until it has happened you dont know what it is like .
Brad, question for you. First let me say, yes there are millions of those videos already made, but oh my god, none of them make common sense, most are so incoherent and very difficult to comprehend, maybe is the Brit or French accent on most of them but still hard to put a plan together on what they are talking about. Also most don't explain the difference between the 2 trains that operate between Bangkok and BKK. So my question or request or suggestion is ? Could you make an easy to understand video about BKK airport after clearing immigration and customs and after bags pick up ? Once one has collected the bags, where does one go to get a bus, taxi, train etc. I know so may videos already but no one has taken the time to explain it in full detail with an easy and slow manner for one to really understand.
Well, I am 100 % fluent on how to say hello in Thai. 1 million more words to go. Thanks for the excellent lecture, maybe I am not hearing this right, when Ta speaks and there is a K sound in the middle of the sentence, she sounds like she is pronouncing the K with a very distinct K sound. If the word with a K letter is at the end of the sentence why does it sound like she is pronouncing the H sound ? I am over thinking this too much ?
brad . . . people will/do say sawadee (accompanying wai) especially in a more formal setting or with folks you are less/not familiar with. the folks that greet you with just asking you where you are going or where you have been are greeting you with familiarity and simply bypassing the standard greeting of sawadee. it is technically incorrect but the weird way of folks greeting someone they are/feel familiar with.
G'Day That's correct, Thai people do greet each other in the manner that you suggested in a more formal or less familiar situation. But the title of our video was Greeting Friends and Neighbours. We are sharing Our Life Thai and much of what we share will have taken place in and around our village. I don't think that it's weird how people who are familiar with each other communicate with each other, I think that it's wonderful. It creates a real sense of community and belonging. True Thai lifestyle / culture. Have a great day Brad & Ta
Many thanks, Brad and Ta,appreciate it very much.

Brad, may I ask what "tai lak"??? means? You say it to Ta as an endearment I believe.
Hi Laura, the term is "tee rak" in Thai, (maybe not spelt correctly but that's how it's pronounced) which means "darling".
Hey Laura
Thanks for your suggestion, it's something that we could perhaps cover as a video topic, but not as a series. We will put your idea on our list of video topics to cover.
