I enjoyed your tutorial. Finally someone makes a practical tote. My rule of thumb is big enough to carry 2 or 3 bags of groceries up a flight of stairs and be able to slide on to shoulder in one motion. I like long handles
Just made this bag and absolutely love it. I used waterproof canvas and measured 19” x 22”. I added a zipper pocket to the front outside. Thank you, Lorrie!
Very cute. I keep saying I'm gonna make a bag for vacations when we go shopping at the little stores so we can carry souvenirs easily, but still haven't. Can't get much easier than this.
Lorrie - great Tote Bags for your Grandchildren. Grandmas are the best ! My mother made most of our clothing growing up . She also made clothing & things for her grandchildren. Best of memories made & they never forget the treasures you made them. Thank you for sharing your talent with everyone! You are an amazing crafty lady!
@@LorrieNunemaker Hi there. I know this video is now three years old but I’m hoping you might remember the width of your strap please…… Thank you for your time. Lesley 😊
I just finished my bag!! I watched this tutorial & knew I had to make this EXACT bag. I scored the last bit of the pink dog fabric from JoAnn’s & found a nice lime stripe fabric for the inside (I used inside fabric & made handles). I added a zipper pocket & a longer open pocket (sewed offset in half & added snap to bigger open pocket) on the inside. I also added a fob with a clasp on the inside. Now I’m going to make a zippered pouch to match for diapers & wipes! This will double as my gift bag. I’ve made burp cloths & bibs, a receiving blanket & in the process of making a crib size quilt. Thanks for the great tutorial (and fabric 💕).
This was so good to watch. I have been wanting to have a go at making a bag but until know, I haven’t found a tutorial so good. I am going to keep watching out for more of your tutorials as you are terrific at showing how to make this bag.
Love these bags and love you! You are the BEST! I have made one and I am going to try and send a picture... your video’s make my life a lot easier And my love for sewing gets better and better everyday because of you... I have way more confidence than I ever could imagine... thank you so much and I can’t wait to make something else...LOVE all the details you show us step by step🥰🥰 Marty
As a beginner sewer this looks easy enough. You have a natural gift to teach and it gives me confidence that I can do this. I have a question about cutting the 4"corners. When you cut through the previously sewn seams, how does in not unravel? Thank you for a great video.
I am very new at this and loved the video. I'm excited to give it a try myself. I noticed in the video you mentioned the fusible fleece and the woven interfacing but in your list of items needed you also listed the heat n bond light interfacing. I'm just wondering if i need Fusible Fleece, Woven Interfacing, and Heat n Bond Light Interfacing or do i use Heat n bond light interfacing in the place of one of the others? I don't know much about interfacing so i'm just wondering
Kimberly Taylor I apologize for the confusion. I would recommend woven and fusible fleece. The heatnbond lite is just another alternative for the woven.
@@LorrieNunemaker that's exciting Lorrie. I really like that outdoor fabric. I don't see many fun choices like this in my store but when I'm near the other store I enjoy il definatly be checking it out. Thank you
I love this tote bag. Thank you so much for showing us how to make it. I have been sewing for a very long time, but always enjoy learning something new. Where do you get your webbing? I looked at Joanne's and Walmart and neither one had it. Thanks again!
Lorrie, can you not use just fusible fleece or woven fleece? I don’t understand needing both. I’m a bit of a newby to different sewing projects so am just trying to understand. Not at all being criticizing of your work. I love your tutorials!!
I'm new to your channel Lorrie, but when I looked at your bag playlist I had to subscribe! Since I'm in scrapbusting mode, I think I'll piece my outer piece and quilt it. What size did you cut your rectangles? I'd like to make several for gifts. Thank for the idea!
Super cute!! I just love your tutorials... So clear and concise, and you make it look so easy. If I have the handles, I'm going to try this today! You mentioned about ironing reheats the fusible lining adhesive... I'm wondering if it would be ok to do HTV on one or if it would ruin the adhesive?? Thanks!
Hi there. I know this video is now three years old but I’m hoping you might remember the width of your strap please…… Thank you for your time. Lesley 😊
Claire Hills I did not list how much fabric to purchase because it really depends on what type of fabric you buy. Home decor fabric is often wider than a quilting cotton fabric. It depends on which fabric you’re using, whether or not it’s a directional fabric and how big you want to make the bag. I do give dimensions of each piece needed so that you can purchase accordingly
At the time 17:00 you are matching seams, when you say one to the left and one to the right. Im not sure what you meant? Love this project, they turned out super cute! Thanks for sharing!

These are so cute! Looks like a good size for a grocery shopping bag as well. I am wanting to lessen my plastic bag use.
Excellent. You are a good teacher to watch!,,,

I’m very new to sewing, but is there a way to tack the 2 layers of fabric together so that the lining stays attached to the outer fabric?

Lorrie, I love all of your tutorials Could you please tell me how to make this size of tote with printable fabric?
How did you attach the woven interfacing to the lining? Temporary basting spray?
Kathy Ziegenmier it’s fuse-able

Thanks for the tutorial, I love this bag. Is this fabric canvas washable? How would you clean it?
btboop2000 yes it’s washable - just throw it in the washer
Lorrie Nunemaker Thanks so much! ☺️

Loved the tutorial. How wide is the webbing for the handles? Thanks

Hello Great bag. Is there a listing of materials needed and sizes to cut. Thank youo
Roxanne Loyst I give all of the sizes at the beginning of the video
👍
can you tell us where to get the colored webbing. thank you.
I just bought mine at Joann Fabrics, they have different colors.
I bought it at joanns in the ribbon section. Lots of colors to choose from
Love it!!
Did you say the pocket is 2/8 x 18
Hi there. I know this video is now three years old but I’m hoping you might remember the width of your strap please…… Thank you for your time. Lesley 😊
Probably 1 inch wide
Gonna make this a bit smaller tote with canvas and cotton with cotton webbing send pic when done🤪
Love it 😍
Which measurement is the length and which one is the width?
Width is the larger height is the smaller.
Luv these but they aren't jumbo sized
Is there a list of material amounts need?
