Watching your videos reminds me of when I was a kid. My dad worked for John Deere for 25 years. I loved going up to the shop and watching my dad working on tractors.

Grew up on a farm. No one in the family farm anymore. All equipment sold back sometime in the late 70's. Back when I was a kid NASA was the only place a computer could be found. Now working as a cardiologist. I have the crazy hobby of rebuilding old diesel engines. You are inspiring me to tackle a tractor from the 50's-70's. Love watching these videos. Thanks

Viewed 4-26-22 from Illinois Hi Zeth, I have to say you really know the service approach to troubleshoot and repair, plus keeps a good attitude. If any JD customer seen your videos
would want you to service their equiptment and know it was done correctly. Keep up the good work !!!!

Anyone else staggered that a 3000hr engine (possibly) needs a new harness to fix an emissions issue?!?! I would expect 10,000hrs and 20years before any age related degradation of the wiring!!

Wow. Lots of variety on this video. Going from one thing to another with some service calls in between. Keeps you going for sure.
    As always, learned a lot.
Never saw one of those belt drives apart. Interesting how you can update those drives.
Found the leveling of the seave ?? interesting also. Spelling is probably wrong. Well, anyway thanks for going thru that procedure. Learned a lot on that.
Thanks again for all the ins and outs on your variety of items today.
About it for now. You take care and be safe.
Looking forward to the next video.

Another good one Zeth! I’ve got a Rogatot with a similar issue with the heater valve affecting the A/C. The valve on it is buried under the seat. I cut the heater line and put in a simple valve to shut off the heat side. That was about 4 years ago and never had to turn it back on. Wouldn’t be quite as convenient with a machine that runs in the fall or cold spring mornings.

I'm not an engineer by any means here, but doesn't that variable drive fan system seem like it's a lot of moving parts? It also takes up a lot of space, I wonder why they don't go with a hydraulic drive motor like they do on the payloader's and what not? The tractor already makes hydraulic pressure and the fan could still be variable speed. I don't know I think that vari drive set up is cool, I'm just thinking it's a little surprising they didn't go a different route with that and save on the maintenance issues and the space at the front of the engine. Awesome video buddy

When I worked in automotive I decided it wasn’t for me after being sick of working on things where everything was a pain and my not even big hands couldn’t fit anywhere. At the time heavy mechanic work like this and trucks never even crossed my mind. I probably would have gone this route had I stayed in the industry knowing what I know today.

Zeth, where did you get your technical training and what type of education beyond high school did you compete to prepare yourself to become proficient at your job?
I assume you have to attend some type of training (requal training) on changes, upgrades and new equipment. What percentage of your time annually do you spend in training and requal.
    Your knowledge is impressive.
Very interesting and easy to along as you work.
    Well done, Zeth.

Took automotive in high school for two years, went to Wyotech for one year, worked as an auto tech for 4 years, was a master ASE technician, went to work for Sloans and trained with John Deere and earned master through John Deere university. I have to take at least 20 credit hours of training a year.

    • @donpeterson9282
      @donpeterson9282 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks. Many do not recognize the extensive training and requalification training master mechanics are required to attend. You have an excellent flow in your presentations and your videos are well paced. You have a pleasant speaking voice and your comments are conversational and comfortable to listen to and watch. You are very fluent with technical terms and discussions. I enjoy your videos, like your presentation style and impressed with your filming and editing. Learning is a life long process. Those who do not embrace learning warmly may pay a big price in years to come. I wish you well Zeth.

Fan is able to speed up all the way cause i can here it and see paint worn off to the edge of sheaves running tractor in custum mode engine rpm can can go as high as tractor wants it to but stays at 1850.
