  • Shredding fine copper wires and copper power cords for copper recovery using two different mechanism wood chippers as an experiment. I'm experimenting with different ways to recover copper from copper wires. I do have a wire stripper but I want to experiment with a different way to recover copper. The first step is to shred the wires so I can feed them into my hammer mill pulverizer for the next step.

Thanks for spending your hard earned on all these gadgets, means we don't have to! Well done you!

i have the same as the first chipper on a different branding (UK). i adapted the feed to hold a 2" plastic pipe with the bottom end cut at an angle, so everything hits the blade instead of spreading around the top chamber. loads better now

...and... new machine... 🙂 looking forward to see hammer mill in action... Did you try sluice box yet?

after hammer mill, it would be a lot of weight for blue bowl, I'll think of something else.

@@MetalScrapLab Jason from YT chanell mbmmllc uses shaker table for that. May be bucket with vibration motor and some water flow could do the same... Or, primitive sluice box, 2-3 fast runs... Probably will need different technology for normal wire and very thin wire...

it works 100 times better when its around -20c. the plastic is all hard and cracky, it brakes it like a glass and copper comes out smooth

You’re making a job ten times harder than it needs to be just buy a wire stripper then pull the full length of copper wire out ain’t that hard.

Looks like a Sun Joe shredder. About 100 times better than the normal style shredder.

ok so now ya chopped up a wire into 1,000 small pieces.
      How does that help you?
Looks like you just created alot more tedious small work for yourself.

naaaaaah sir that is not the right thing to do with that materiall nope , sorry but there is planty more ways to have fun with scrapping but this one isn`t funny ... my opinion only... one positive side of that i see is the compressing size of your cable pile but i bet not every scrapyard will take it as an wire ... maight be wrong just guessing... cheers and good luck selling this materiall

I dont understand this, the piece are still covered in insulation. Nothing is stripped how does this help with copper recovery?

I have a hammer mill pulverizer. Next step would be to pulverize and then recover the copper. I'll make more videos on completing the process.
