You are so right when you say it is all very misleading. Brian is the singer with the current Edison Lighthouse band that bought the UK rights to use the name. None of the band are original members, even if they have been together for 50 years. The original hit was 52 years ago this month. The original band comprised Tony Burrows (lead singer), Dave Taylor (bass), Stuart Edwards (lead guitar/now deceased), Ray Dorey (rhythm guitar) and George Weyman (drums/now deceased). As far as I know Dave Taylor is the only one still performing. He is the bass player in the duo in the video in 2012 at St Just. The guitarist/singer in the video is myself. I have known and preformed with three of the original band. They are great guys, Dave and Ray, and of course, Stuart who died of cancer a few years ago and is sadly missed. Most of what I have said is also on Wikipedia.
Do you know who the vocal/guitar guy was along with the other three in the official video from 1970? I think maybe it was filmed outside some palace in London.

In fact Brian Huggins has never performed with any of the original band Edison Lighthouse.

Well just because one sings in a different key does not mean they can't sing. Many performers sing in a different key live versus the studio. This is especially true 30-40 years after the song was released. I would bet money Tony would not be singing live in the original key. I am in no way claiming this is a great version. I do think it is OK, but the mix is very poor so hard to judge thoroughly. I am not a fan of invoking the Bands name. I would rather it be titled clearly as a cover as most of the ones I watched prior to this one. We have seen bands break up and one member assembles a new band and tours under the name, not a fan of that. There used to be 2 Dr Hook's touring.....

Ok, he's not singing Love Grows... but he can definitely reach the high notes still! I think that this only shows that Tony B is in that very rare group of performers who has been constantly working since 1969 so his voice is a finely tuned and cared for instrument.
