Pardon the pun but here's even more from these two chaps: th-cam.com/play/PLZwyeleffqk4nBYE2jMQB9x3p0-YBstV2.html
Pun? You are just cutting pasting this without thinking. Stop with the corporate toss.
@@uklivestreaming8748 It's a refence to a sketch.
What pun?
Oh wasn't there one? Sorry.
“that steffi she’s an angel but she folds her wings and walks like you and me” possibly greatest lyrics ever written
She's extremely good at tennis.

"When hits that topspin second serve - I think I know the meaning now of love" - LOL the look on his face
What a slant rhyme
AHHH! So much talent, the Laurie guy. I really see him going places.
His facial expressions are priceless!
"I fetch a knife and take my seat." A man after my own heart:)
This is a reference to a knife attack on a tennis player named Monica Seles. She was attacked and seriously injured by a fanatical Steffi Graf fan.
@@booksandtwins3146 Ouch. well, that got dark in a hurry.
Thank goodness for the series House M.D. Introducing Hugh Laurie to the states. Otherwise I would never have known about the vast amount of acting, comedy and immense talent that he have.
He also wrote a book "The Gun Seller" I read it before I knew who he was.
It came out in the 90's before House M.D. aired.
I can recommend it if you like espionage thrillers with a bit of humor.
No, I'm an American, and in the 90s I watched HL & SF in _Jeeves and Wooster,_ so when I saw _House_ I recognized the much old Laurie with delighted shock.
@@dariusdaguerre3535 For me, it was Blackadder 3 and 4.

Love the mannerisms and hair toss!
What an all round talented artist!

Interestingly I spent my early childhood in a lovely German town called Heidelberg, and would often see her (though I didn’t know who she was until much later) on Sunday walks to the local bakery.
This songs theme is based on the attempted assassination of Monica Seles by a man called Günter Parche, who was a fanatical fan of Steffi Graf.
Seles had beaten Graf in the German Open in 1990, which apparently caused Parche to spiral into suicidality. After taking “her” spot in the world leaderboard, all of Parches negativity focused on Seles, which he began to hate with a passion apparently even eclipsing his adoration of Steffi Graf.
In 1993, then, during a game of Tennis in Hamburg, Parche stormed the field during a break and stabbed Seles in the back with a knife. The sustained injury was minor physically, but psychologically it was a critical blow, and it would take Seles over 2 years to play publicly again.
Incidentally, Parche spent most of his later years in a care facility in Nordhausen, Thuringia, as I discover upon some research, where he passed in 2022.
As fate will have it, this city is not unknown to me, I often drove by it or stopped for a break there on my way to or from my parents place to where I used to live (Leipzig).
It’s kind of strange to think that I was in close proximity to a man who was so infatuated with a woman I used to stand in like at the bakery with that he was ready to attempt a murder.
Though intended to be a comedy ended up being extremely melodious.
Hugh Laurie is amazing. I adore this song.LOL
The hair tossing 😂 2:47
God I love this song!
This is probably one of the funniest things I have ever heard (or seen) in my life - and I have heard and seen so many funny things!
This is especially hilarious for a German like me. Fry and Laurie are so great ... Stephen for his incredible wit and eloquence, Laurie for his deadpan humour and musical skills!
This is actually a great song, did Hugh Laurie write the music and lyrics? Regardless, his delivery is amazing and I love his voice here!
Agreed he sings it with complete conviction. And you can always tell when someone sings the words with that conviction. It makes any good song into a great song. And he definitely sold this one so well, it actually plays like a real song with some weird parts as opposed to a joke song
And I assume fry and laurie worked on it together. It may have been mostly his baby but it would’ve at least been run by fry and he would’ve contributed to some extent. Most these sketch shows like this work that way.
And I’m sure Hugh Laurie would’ve chose the music because he’s the musician
@@dillantrader6898 Would have _chosen_ the music; but surely you mean "composed."
Getting an Al Stewart vibe from his voice.
I’d like to see Hugh’s reaction to this now that he’s a legit musician now.
I mean, he was always an aspiring musician, was likely actually playing guitar and singing here, so would just be like "It had funny lyrics, but was still a real song"...it isn't cringeworthy or whatever, so what is there to react to?
@Stevo Devo THAT is the real concern :'D
@Stevo Devo Or Seles reaction
This is actually one of my favourite songs he does. Just because it's novelty music, doesn't mean it's not amazing
Legit Musician = Musician.
What a brilliant parody of Brian Adams and his love sons! 🤣
Only Hugh Laurie could make a fun romantic song about an attempted murder.
A deranged man, obsessed with Steffi Graf, stabbed Monica Seles during a match in 1993.
Indeed. However... are we sure that the song came out AFTER the attempt ? Maybe it was the other way around and the attempt was inspired by Hugh's song ! Ah there's no way to know now I guess. I'm just gonna tell everyone that Hugh Laurie (and the BBC) are responsible for the attempt on Monica Seles' life. :)
This episode aired February 19th 1995
Well
That's why he's Hugh Laurie
Lol 😂. Hugh Laurie 😍
Genius!
Hugh sounds a bit like Al "Year Of The Cat" Stewart here...
Yep, noticed it too.
I was gonna say the same😂
1:32 I wanna feel that way about something
Scarily prescient from the scarily presciently look Rufus Wainwright alike
She's got eyes like diamonds,
Hair like twisted gold.
When she looks up to me,
I feel my blood run cold
Now, I don't care if people laugh (A-ha)
I'm in love with Steffi Graf
I watched her all last summer;
I watched her every day
She knew that I was with her,
She didn't have to say
She can run, but she can't hide
She knows I feel deep down inside..
That Steffi is an angel
But she folds her wings
And walks like you and me
She's extremely good at tennis
On any kind of surface there might be
Clay or grass
She'll flay your ass
And when she hits that topspin second serve
I think I know the meaning of love
Eastbourne never was a favorite
The outside courts were damp
She had a hamstring problem
And recurring muscle cramp
But she dug deep and won it just the same
My angel never lost a service game
But now, a shadow in the distance
A girl with ponytails
Sixteen and full of hunger
The end of Steffi's trail
I can't wait for her defeat
I fetch a knife and take my seed
'Cause Steffi is a goddess
My love for her, it knows no bounds
I'd kill to make her happy,
Or just to get her through the early rounds
Kill or maim
It's just a game
But if I had another life, I'd chose
To come back as one of Steffi's shoes
'Cause Steffi is an angel
But she folds her wings
And walks like you and me
Oh, Hugh Hugh Hugh.
...Where is the lid?
Where is the, where is the, where is the liiiiiiid?
If Al Stewart had an uncomfortable obsession with a tennis player...
who would have thought , he is the great DOCTOR HOUSE.
For us on the Evrup side of the pond he's so much more long before the Doctor came to our House😊
This is basically Al Stewart😆
I tried to share this on Facebook and they said it violates their community standards. This is the second video in as many weeks with which I've had this issue. Who stuck what up Facebook's butt and why?
Now I don't care if people laugh. *A HA*
Rowland Rivron! That's Rowland Rivron! Oh man this was funny but as soon as I saw Rowland Rivron it really made me laugh. That's 'Raw Sex' appeal... ;) (Thumbs up to anyone who gets that)
How much money do you have Hugh?
Roland Riveron on drums?
Yep that's him.
Top Gear producer Andy Wilman on electric guitar.
This song is from the point of view of the guy who stabbed Monica Seles.
Is that Roland Rivron on drums? Who knew?
I love this song, pretty funny until you get to the dark twist at the end
This is what happens to house if he doesn't take his vicodin
i.e. hydrocoden/acetaminophen
Poor Monica... :)
made my life so much better i went to bahamas and ate a truck, and then a carrot talked to me aha
YES AHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Steffi Graf? That was a while ago - around the same time the wall went down

نعم ، احسن برنامج عندي a bit of Fry and Laurie
He sounds like James here.
Hugh Laurie could have been one of the greatest musicians of our time. But he chose comedy and acting.
It's hard to say that he chose wrong, but I do wonder about that alternate reality where British bands continued to dominate.
He has released music and toured so "what could've been" has come true😊
Amazing how dated a laugh track sounds.
It sure does. Luckily ABOFAL had a live audience so here it's true laughter 😊
They even used this show's laughter for other shows.
"Kill to make her happy or just the early rounds" is actually a pretty dark line considering a fan stabbed her opponent during a match
I think the joke is that he was that fan
In 1993, in a match in Hamburg, Monica Seles was stabbed by a fan obsessed with Steffi Graf ... i think
That's the whole basis of the song... the concept is "a song that crazy fan would sing"
where the lyrics, I cannot understand.
She's got eyes like diamonds
Hair like twisted gold
When she looks up to me
I feel my blood run cold
etc etc etc
The automated subtitles are pretty accurate most of the time.
Monica be careful of this guy
