Am reading Smith's The Old Manor House as she invents the gothic genre. It's getting creepy and I'm looking forward to her dealing with the French revolution. Hopefully it will help me with her sonnets.
I haven’t given much thought to Smith’s novels, but as hers seems to have been a voice of some stature on the literary scene I’m intrigued by how you are finding it.

Ah true. Maybe I have a better chance just ordering online.
@@joshuacreboreads I found a very cheap copy - there was a gap between that and everything else, so maybe it’s best to wait and see.
She really is wonderful--even when grim. I especially liked the first and third of this set.
