You played awesome dude. Congratulations on the win! I think you played the best and cooperated with the table to ultimately put yourself in a winning position.
In hindsight, yes but when you have 3 players pulling devs you can’t always predict who is going to get what. Given the early game, it looked like green was getting army while red and I fight road. It’s pretty hard to foresee red getting army and black getting road if you look at the start. To be fair to green, he got some unlucky draws but if he pulled a knight over the road builder, it’s likely he takes LA.
It’s not about getting rid of extortions but more about picking your spots. I would also say what I did wasn’t technically extortion but a deal to proactively move the knight in exchange for a trade. I wasn’t threatening to rob him and would have left the robber there if he said no.
3:06 I think red should take 4/5/10 and point right as his second placement. It messes up the board a bit, and the 4/9/11 would be an amazing second settle. It’s also an incredibly fast set-up.
HI Drew question for you- do you think there was any way for you to play this differently where you left your road network more intact for an efficient road win? I feel like every spot you went for made total sense to me and I think would've done the same, just curious if in hindsight you might see a different path considering you had 9 roads played and black won with 8 roads. Great video as always, even your losses are super entertaining and educational! (also hi Twitch chat)
The reason I got the tie fighter formation is bc I went 9411 which opened the 311 settle. I am open to suggestions or plays but opening the road settle and then playing for road with the VP looks like the most economical path.
@@dandydrew makes total sense to me, no suggestions from me I thought your play seemed optimal just wondered if you might’ve seen something in hindsight. Thanks for answering 🤙
Yes. The question is what city will contribute to my win condition of taking road best? We need the best wood brick output we can get. If you look at my ratios pre-city by counting the collective dots, I have the doubled 9 wood + 3 wood + 4 wood = 13 pips of wood , and doubled 2, 5 brick, and 10 brick = 9 pips of brick. You can already see that I have a hand that is more wood than brick. If I city the 692, my ratios go to 17 pips of wood and 10 pips of brick (1 pip added on the 2 brick)! If I city the 8310, I will produce 15 pips of wood (doubling the 3 wood) and 12 pips of brick (10 gets doubled). If you think about it that way, the 8103 city will improve my ratios quite a bit while also giving me the 8 roll being a free card as an added bonus. In a perfect world, you would want even amounts of wood and brick so that your cards stay actionable. In game, I didn’t do this math but after playing for years, I intuitively knew the 8103 improved my wood brick ratios and that’s why I picked it.
Man I love the videos but can you stop crying about people talking in chat? You know you're winning and will still whine about being blocked, but the somebody else does it and you rant the entire game...

Green did so much complaining while they were clearly doing extremely well
Multiple people in my chat mentioned playing him and getting a similar reaction.
I like how dandy is complaining that he gets blocked at the end and literally had the win in hand if black doesn’t win on that turn.
I am black! that was an intense game lol
You played awesome dude. Congratulations on the win! I think you played the best and cooperated with the table to ultimately put yourself in a winning position.
You should've got blocked at least 50% more than you actually did
Thanks dandy! Will keep grinding
"6 9 3 or I am unsubbing" 😂😂😂
Probably for the best after that game 🫡
I think black needed to get robbed a bit more early

"And the idea is the we also leave....(Thinks about saying 9-11).... this spot open..."😂😂 What a TH-cam pro
🤣 😂🥴 Nice catch!
Drew! You forgot the dice stats!
Them 2's were well over the 4's, surely!
THE 2!!!!!!!
Bro, you complained about the extortion meta to just do it 2 min afterwards lol

lol came to say this exact thing.

Did you consider the 692 city over the 8310?

Pretty sure red was just trying to ruin your game from the statt.
Red pulled for the win. They deserved more respect for their setup
