Thanks so much Glenn! As a teacher nothing gives me greater satisfaction that doing what you described successfully. I struggled to understand this stuff my self for many years, and to be able to pass on that knowledge in an accessible way so others can develop faster than I did is truly rewarding. Thanks for rockin' with me! Much respect! ✌😎 - Cole Mize
Dude, this is truly brilliant! I've never seen rapping broken down so crystal clear and you always back everything up with examples so your not just speaking theoretically. And your rapping is seriously dope!!! Thanks Cole these videos are super helpful!
Thanks for all of your kind words Dan! I'm really glad you enjoyed both my video and my rapping, and most importantly I'm glad that you're finding my videos to be helpful. Thanks for watching and commenting! Much respect! ✌😎 - Cole Mize

I swear we respect you man 🙏 I wish you make videos that you analyse rap songs like "Lose yourself" by Em or any other famous songs that have a strong rhyme scheme and we know it. 🙏 Respect 🙏♥️

I’m so glad you still upload I used to rap for fun since 2018 your videos helped but I never had any of my music mixed just iPhone memos. I been using bandlab for 2 days and I know for certain I love music ❤️ glad to see you can still help me any many others. This channel criminally underrated because people can’t apply your old school flow to new school beats/flow 😂 skill Issue 🧠 even if it’s not my type of music I know what sounds good and can mimic, especially with these explanations
Thanks for all of your kind words! I'm really glad you've been enjoying my videos and finding them to be helpful. That's what it's all about right there! Keep up the hard work and I'll be sure to do the same! ✌😎 - Cole Mize

When you said "what many beginners struggling with is transitioning into and out of rhyme schemes" I knew this video was made for me lmfao. Sometimes I just be freestyling and I get stuck in a cadence or rhyme and I can feel in the music that it's time for a switch, so then I spit a bar or two with a new rhyme sounds and then zone out and switch to scatting until I can find my words again. 😩 Usually I try to move my pauses around or use the last end rhyme as an internal rhyme on the first half of the next bar to give myself more time to think. I gotta say though, most of the times when I lose the flow or choke out, it's at a pattern switch. Sure, that's easier to break out of when doing written raps, but to me, not being able to do it in freestyling means I haven't *really* learned how to do it on the same internal level. I know you really push for scatting, it's just my opinion that freestyling is like...scatting+ or scatting^2. Not that I don't also do sit-down writing. A good artist is well rounded in all areas of their craft is my philosophy. Scatting and writtens and freestyling all have their gains.
I agree, there's 100% elements of scatting in freestyling because you're having to figure out your cadences/timing on the spot. The rap flow isn't the main focus when freestyling, but you want your flow to sound good so it's still important. Thanks for watching, I'm glad you found this video helpful ✌😎 - Cole Mize
I'm a Ol' man, never really was a rapper/But dat Three bar rhyme took me to my classroom/ In Poetry dey call it "A, A, B, A," an' now my Rhymes ain't gotta sound like a disaster
Thanks Devious, I actually have J.I.D on my list of rappers to break down. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll be sure to cover him in the future.✌😎 - Cole Mize
Hey Cole. Simple question. Should I scat on a beat, record it, write the lyrics on the basis of the flows in that. Or should I scat for a section, write the lyrics for that and then move ahead
I tend to do it section by section let's says 4 bar sections. But never limit yourself to any scat you come up with because when doing so it can limit what you can say. But the powerful thing about scatting is you can improvise it "tweak it" add to and take away from it and that's the key to not getting boxed in "stuck" when trying to make lyrics work with your scat. I demonstrated this in this video 👉th-cam.com/video/nLTEdJWC32o/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YSRKQ4CvxXKevR1Q I hope this helps. Thanks for rockin' with me! Much respect! ✌😎 - Cole Mize
Are you just an Excel/Google Sheets Wizard? How on earth do you get everything so beautifully color coordinated? I would pay damn good money for an easy-to-use, color/note-type-coordinated Google Sheets template or app or something. You hear me Cole? If you build it, they will come. Or at least I will. All over the place. And then I'll pay you to use it.
