It's debatable to me whether this was practical effects or CGI - it would seem to be a mix of both in my eyes. The point of contention is over the destruction of valuable items that were in perfectly good condition. It may be their right to destroy items that they purchased, but the popular sentiment seems to be that purchasing such items just to destroy them for an ad is a waste and a shame.
