  • Even though it seems politically incorrect nowadays, Simon Jul Jørgensen claims to be a meat lover and a killer. However, he invites us to eat healthy and sustainable meat, even though it costs more. It is worth it to pay more for the farmers’ time and experience, and for the taste.
We produce so much meat that it needs to be frozen in meat banks. Simon Jul Jørgensen invites the consumers not to participate in that kind of growth in the meat industry, but rather ask for much healthier and environmentally concerned meat. He believes that taking small steps can have a huge impact for the next generations.
Simon Jul Jørgensen is a radio host and partner at Spis Min Gris (Eat my pig).
Simon Jul Jørgensen is a radio host and partner at Spis Min Gris, perhaps best known from the series Banjo’s Liqueur Room, Mørk & Jul and The Red Chapel. He owns farm at Djursland, where he works with Frank Erichsen (DR’s Bonderøven - back-to-basics farmer), spreading knowledge about organic food and being self-sufficient.

There's no such thing as sustainable meat. There is meat that is "more" sustainable than other meat, but that could only be a fraction. You can't get away from the amount of energy, water, space and ecosystem destruction meat production does. Trying to advocate sustainable meat is a joke when 50% of the environmental threat is from animal agriculture and the whole transport sector is on second at mere 18%. Even if sustainable meat could get that down to 40%, which i highly doubt, it is not even close to solving the issue and it might even make people more okay with eating meat making it a huge stepback for a sustainable future by not making people aware of the seriousness of the issue at hand.
