I’ve been a bookworm since childhood. It still is one of my fave ways of exploring. I was always fascinated by the power of language and how words are used to impact people.
I was awed by the way authors played with words to express their beliefs and ideas, not just to describe events.
I sincerely believe that reading does help you broaden your horizon but you shouldn’t rely on books only (like many people do). The best way is to try, test, do mistakes, try again, go through lessons and experiences of life. Especially when it comes to books around business & mindset.
I’ve noticed that nowadays many people read for the sake of showing off. Or they read a ton of books for the sake of ticking it of the list. This knowledge is worth nothing if you’re not applying it.
Reading books for the sake of reading? Not my thing.
Read books not out of FOMO (fear of missing out) just because someone recommended you a great book.
I used to read A LOT of books and always thought it was a good thing.
I was trying to absorb maximum knowledge because I thought only that way I will be able to change something in my life. The reason was lack of confidence in my own powers.
I was trying to fill the emptiness within by borrowing someone else’s experience.
But the best experience comes from living your own path, exploring yourself & your strengths.
    Go out and try things.
    Do things your way.
Even if it’s not mentioned in the books.
Test it out. If it doesn’t work, that’s an experience to remember.
What if it does work though?

Basically, this was a platform for his ego and I really didn't learn anything.

Reading is necessary but not sufficient condition for success. A book a day it is too much to process unless you are a full-time student that you have the availability to study 8 hours a day like I did when I was at university. If you run a business or have a full-time job, you can Schedule 1 hour early in the morning to read, use all dead time that you might have for commuting or waiting for appointments to read and finally 1 or 2 hours in the evening before bed. This realistic approach gives you an average of one or two books a week depending on the length and complexity. Additionally, reading in a foreign language like English in my case, needs a little more processing time than in my native Spanish. I don't know how many native English speakers are able to read fluently in another language, but it takes some years of intense reading practice to hardly feel the difference. Finally, I learn on TH-cam, it is not the same, but I am always looking for trends and reading options, so I spend 30 minutes a day during workdays and 2 hours on weekends. If we followed straightforward lots of the recommendations on this platform, all TH-camrs with self-development content, would need to find another Job.

Exercise and the Brain I don’t know of Dr. Larry, but I’m listening to him now that you mentioned him. I’m actually a student at Southern baptist theological Seminary. The western tradition is steeped in natural law and natural law is steeped in metaphysical assumptions. The good must extend beyond self. Tai wants to assume the understanding of good, while divorcing it from “who” the good is. He is endorsing autonomy and relativity which is inconsistent. To tell someone they should read and then go telling them that reading is good for relative and preferential reasons fails to give reasons for why others should read. He would do better to talk about why he reads. Which is silly to give a formal speech about when the reasons are this shallow.

Exercise and the Brain which is exactly why he connects “the good life” with reading while having a shallow understanding of that “the good life is”. Who you read is more important than “just reading”.

This is a very western view of "The Good Life" which is profoundly flawed if you want to discover true inner peace. Although I agree that attaining wisdom is helped by reading. But its not how much you read - its WHAT you read and its WHAT you practise.

I want to be exposed to good men that can teach me of that good humor, where I can be more comfortable around them. I need good friends. There is a lot I need to work on.. but BOOKS. Thank you for this. I am on my way to a hopefully good progression of something big.

5 YEARS since I've watched this video (I put this video on repeat for almost a 100 times probably, the month I watched this for the first time), my life has changed drastically. I've had 6 personal mentors in this time, had the ethics to read almost 8 new books in a week of vacation time and the knowledge I've implemented in my life amazes the possibilities of what life has to offer. Hadn't been this video, I may not have been the person I'm today; or even had the audacity of see myself have accomplished what I've today (Not that I'm saying I'm Bill Gates or Elon Musk Just Yet); but to whatsoever I have - from attending Bootcamp at MIT and Harvard Medical School this year to starting up 3 new companies in last 3 years; this video is the starting point in a huge manner.
How much ever, the youtube comment section be plagued by the negativity for Tai, but you've made me believe what life can be with mentors and becoming an avid book reader. My strong gratitude to the unmet man who've influenced my life to this scale. Thanks!!!

it's no magic, if you want "the good life", do what you think is necessary to achieve this goal. when you are smart enough to achieve it, you'll be smart enough to find your way. if not, you will fail either way.
you dont need a 67 step program or any other shit that will only cost you money and wont help you. there is no trick, no shortcut. success requires hard work, consistency and sometimes luck. thats it.

If you subscribe to his emails he will try to sell you to other "very successful entrepreneurs" and they will try to sell you courses worth of several thousand dollars! They use all stupid methods - telling you the spots for the course are limited, that their fantastically generous offer actually costs 3 times more, but they will give you this special price only because you found them trough Tai Lopez. Also Tai Lopez approach is aggressive - he sends a loads of emails every day, recommending different guys with different offers - books, courses etc.

What he is trying to say is learn from people better than you. You can do this by reading books, so reading a book a day/week would help make you successful. Obviously if you read a book from someone very knowledgeable you could glean some of the knowledge that helped them be successful. As for "Toughen up" Once you start getting comfortable with something you'll stagnant and never venture out of your comfort zone. He never said "don't really read it" he said to read the most important part of the book. I don't understand why there is so much hate in the comments. He is giving good advice.

He talks about Warren Buffet or Mark Zuckerberg without mentioning these people are hyper-intelligent and they were able to innovate through their intelligence.
