Great review as always, thanks for hefting/lifting up those power supplies. That's the real story behind these lights (and class of lights really). Lots of power, lots of lumens, lots of accessories. Definitely the lower power requirement of the CS15 would be my choice, for ALL the reasons you mention.

Really dislike that more and more of reviewers are just deferring to Andrew Lock to do the meter tests. It’s understandably time consuming, and massive props to Andrew for the work, but that’s part of the work of doing a review. It’s a cop out to just defer to Andrew. You don’t see this with tech channels testing CPUs, phones, laptops. Everyone does their own testing and presents their findings. Even small tech channels don’t just defer to LTT, MKBHD, GN.
More data points also allow for viewers and users to understand the variance in manufacturing. Are there batch issues? QA issues? Inconsistencies?
If folks don’t want to do a proper review, then just stop. It’s nice to be sent gear early or to keep entirely but let’s not keep only to the path of least resistance. Let’s be honest with ourselves. If it’s a video made in exchange, let’s call It that.
Andrew should get money every time a reviewer dodges and waits on Andrew to do the testing.

So judging by the eco flow numbers, xt26 pulls about 2000 Watts off the wall at 100%, that's around 17AMps at 120v so definitely a chunkier circuit is needed. You could probably use a dryer plug converter with a lunchbox.
Edit NVM you definitely need 30 amps for this lol

Thanks for the early review! Is there some kind of photometrics available somewhere? Something like 5600K with 45° at 3m would be a nice start to compare it to similar lights.

I don't have any, however, because there's so much interest and I didn't get to show the F14 or the barndoors, I've been told I may be able to get my hands on them again after Christmas and maybe I could try then!

I own a 1200. I really like it. Tons of output.
Yet, after attaching it to one of these spotlight barrels, the idea the barrel being what the yoke attaches to and holds all the weight seems fraught with peril. The 1200 is a chunk. The Bowens mount isn't that secure and strong. What I would love to see is some way of also tying in the 1200 to the yoke along with the barrel. Proper balance is a great thing with lighting instruments this big.

Hi I work for Aputure - it sounds like you were trying to use the standard spotlight attachment with the 1200D which is not recommended as that light is not compatible with it. Last week we launched the Spotlight Max an ellipsoidal attachment specifically designed for COBs 600W and larger. This attachment is much heavier duty than the original spotlight and works with the 1200D and will be compatible with the upcoming Electrostorm lights.
When using the 1200D with the spotlight max we recommend you use the spotligth Max's short and heavy duty yoke, the balance should be pretty close to optimal we've tested it extensively and built the 1200D and the spotlight Max's mounts with this kind of usage in mind.

Lights look great, but useless for most people not running a generator on their productions. The most pressing issue for Aputure as a company right now is their absolutely abysmal customer service. Some of the worst I’ve experienced in the industry trying to get a faulty unit replaced. They aren’t a professional company yet until they get that resolved.

Cool stuff. Advise me on lower power lights: if I were to choose between 600d and 600c? would you say 600c is the more "desirable" one? I find my self shooting indoors and I wanna replace my 300d with the 600c to have versatility. Then I wanna invest in the CS15 to have the punch. I am in Canada so I might not be able to use that at full power on our breakers but I might get a 2000w honda genie for it. It's a lot more money than day lights and gel but I think the versatility and speed of work will be worth the 3x cost - what do you think? The XT26 is a wet dream, I gaffed a feature with a 4k arri (which was a pain the ass size and weight wise) and I can't wait to have an XT26 which is about the same power - and I love that they introduced the green magenta adjustment in there.
Basically I wanna focus on introducing more color and bi color lights in my kit and to oust the day ones. I have the 300x and F21c so far - and a 150 and 300w daylight.
Eventually I think I will need at least two 600c and two CS15 to light largers scenes and to ensure a versatile kit. Plus some tubes, aputure MC pros and that should be a pretty versatile kit. IDK - share some wisdom pls

I have the CS15 and XT26 back for a couple days with the F14 fresnel + a 1200d and a 600C to compare them to.
Gonna run some spectrometer tests, then I'll get back to you on some recommendations. 😉
Great question though thanks for trusting me to answer!

Can you plug it in house outlet or not?

    • @AnotherCameraChannel
      @AnotherCameraChannel  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yes you can, just be wary about how much power you are drawing as too high of a draw will trip the breakers.
For the XT26 at full power, depending on where you are in the world, you'd need a high power dedicated circuit or external power.
