    Actually Larys dismissing the rumor of Seasmoke is proof for the audience that Larys might be purposely ignoring Rhaenyra’s exploits in recruiting dragonseends to sabotage Aemond.
    Edit: People also make great points that Larys dismisses the rumor because it is very sketchy due to its nature, “I heard it from someone who heard from someone who heard from this guy” telephone info is not the most reliable info. It also can be that whoever tells Aemond the news, is gonna be in trouble since this news would really *piss* Aemond off, the last time Aemond was given bad news that pissed him off, like what Tyland did, they got sent away, so Jaspar tries to get Larys to tell the news to Aemond order to get rid of him, because the previous episode did hint at Jaspar’s dislike of Larys, but Larys as smart as he is, recognizes what Jaspar is doing and refuses. I like to believe it was all three angles here at once, so much conveyed in one conversation, I love it.

      Lmao. But yeah, agreed. Though, I don’t think Otto would even want return if he heard the call anyway, he seems sick of King’s Landing by this point and his previous talk with Aemond showed that Aemond could as well be as stubborn as Aegon. I feel he is putting his cards into Daeron now, who is basically a Targeryen raised like a Hightower, stalwart, not a douche, makes him more favorable and amenable for Otto.

      And because of that fact, he has quite a bit of self-hatred. Rhaenyra’s choices in the parentage of her sons consequently means that they must live with them. She really screwed them over in that sense, but people don’t acknowledge it publicly given Jace is a dragon rider and heir to the throne. But with the recruitment of Targaryen bastards to assume the positions of dragon riders, Jace’s ascension to the Iron Throne can and will be contested. Rhaenyra is setting the precedent for placing illegitimate kin into positions of great power without thoroughly considering the consequences. People who have never known such might, smallfolk especially, will be greatly reluctant to relinquish it.

      @@InfiniteAndMortal Those are interesting elements that I don't think the fandom has entirely put together. Rhaenyra is putting bastards on dragons. The Greens are parading dragon heads through the streets of King's landing. If the Targaryen's are closer to gods, they're doing everything to strip themselves of the sacred character of their house. And you're right. It's certainly short sighted to not consider the danger in giving illegitimate Targaryen's their own nukes, after having cast them away for so long. Rhaenyra's essentially arming another faction of potential enemies.

  • @moonlily8162
    @moonlily8162 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +210

    Silverwing flying to King’s landing wasn’t an accident.
    They flew her out there to lure vaghar and Aemond into a trap on dragonstone.
    Silverwing is the smallest of the largest dragons, small enough for Vhagar to reasonably deal with on her own, but large enough to pose a severe threat to kings landing if ignored.
    If you notice, Vermithor and step were waiting there when Silverwing returned.
    Rhaenyra wanted to take out Vhagar right then and there because that would essentially end the war.
    But Aemond could probably tell something was off and decided against it even though Vhagar really wanted to fight. (I don’t believe Aemond saw the other dragons, I believe he just had a bad feeling and decided for once not to take the risk. Especially since Silverwing is a dragon that hasn’t had a rider since Queen Alysanne’s death and Aemond would most likely know that since he’s a history buff)

But then when it became abundantly clear what Jace's motivation was and why he felt that way, it turned the scene around for me. They’re new fans that think there needs to be death and battle every single episode as if this is the walking dead or something. Mind sets like this start leading writers to think they need to add dumb ass fights to everything to keep the audience engaged. When in reality the last few eps have done so much character development across the board and continue to lay a foundation for this war. Like daemon and the river lords had me on the edge of my seat seeing him spar with that young lord and having to execute his own man… while then seeing the pain aegon is going through as Larys starts to dig into him is setting up something crazy that I won’t spoil… then to show jace and rhaenyra having that honest conversation that if she will give any of these bastards a chance at a dragon what does it say about him and his kin who are also bastards. While then the action with vermithor was so well done but the best part was the beginning seeing how Targaryen rhaenyra is starting to act by summoning the dragon and calming him only to be like nope let him choose……

Not only that, but he also banished one of his daughters (probably Hugh’s mother) for not submitting to his authority and most likely caused the disappearance and presumed death of another one of his daughters. Jahaerys I was the epitome of sexism, though it’s disputed whether this was only in accordance with Westerosi customs as to not anger the nobility since he was notably ‘the conciliator’. Either way, he neglected his family immensely.

      I want complex but consistent characters. And I want consistent rules within the setting, especially regarding dragons. And I want every scene to serve a purpose. I'm getting none of that.
      Rhaenyra, who has been turned into a boring, typical fantasy protagonist, is both simple and inconsistent. The rules about how dragons select riders and interact with other people change from episode to episode. And there are so, so many scenes that do virtually nothing to move the story forward, like everything that happened with Alicent in this episode.
      And there's a lot more bad writing than that. But if you don't care, more power to you. I'm glad you find joy in it. You're completely off base though if you think that everyone who has complaints just wants more the battles; nothing could be further from the truth. And I just love that he uses that leverage to get back at Daemon for his disrespect a few episodes ago, while also working to reinforce his fealty to Rhaenyra. Right after Oscar points out how precarious Daemon's position was, and where Daemon almost loosk deated; theres a moment where Daemon looks impressed, that I honestly think was an impromptu decision from Matt Smith because of how impressed he was of Archie Barnes' performance lol. I think this episode is great (9/10, i liked episode 2 and 4 even more this season).
    What i found most interesting these last 2 episodes is what they do with Larys Strong:
    1. He ist not able to manipulate Aemond.
    2. I interpret his interactions with Aegon as him doing 2 thing at the same time:
    Larys is kind to Aegon, because he can relate to him and also because he wants to have his goodwill to rise in power when Aegon can rule again (which then would also give Larys an opportiunity to plot against Aemond if he wants to).

      Larys is a master manipulator. In my opinion, he is Littlefinger x 10 and probably one of the best schemers Martin has created. He is doing all this on purpose. If they follow the books (which they don't, in a lot of things) there's going to be a lot of wtf moments.

    10:51 did you see this as accidentally? In my mind it was planned, Hugh and Rhaeneyra were on their dragons at Dragonstone waiting for Aemond to arrive. I assumed it was Rhaeneyras first command to try and trick and lure Vhaegar into a 1v3 after Vhagar is still resting from Rooks Rest. I don't believe this was suppose to show Ulf accidentally riding to Kings Landing. Thats also what Aemond realizes when he approaches Dragonstone as Vhagar reacts to there being more dragons there and they retreat.

    This episode had so many great moments. One of my favorite ones was when Oscar Tully denounced Daemon's nefarious behavior and demanded that Daemon mete out justice for allowing war atrocities. Vermithor casually slaughtering those people was disturbing to watch and my adrenaline was rushing super fast when Hugh claimed him, but it was easy to understand why. The contrast though between when Hugh claiming Vermithor and Ulf claiming Silverwing was interesting to see. I thought that Silverwing initially didn't want Ulf, but then i personally think that Ulf got lucky that he was chosen by a dragon that was like "i just want a rider, fuck it, any rider will do." Rhaenyra standing with three dragons at the end of the episode gave me major Daenerys vibes.

    I haven’t seen anyone having any issue with this episode, everyone is largely on the same page that it was one of the best episodes of tv. A full on 10/10 episode. Anyone who says “it’s different from the book” is forgetting that GRRM said that the maester is an unreliable narrator, so we’re are seeing what ACTUALLY happened as opposed to what we were told that happened by someone in the employ of the victors. The book isn’t canon, it’s one perspective, GRRM said this show is actually going to show us how things really unfolded. This show is the best thing on tv so it’s no surprises we are getting these 5 star episodes at the end of the season

You’re the worst kind of fan who just tries to spread hate illogically basing your argument off of what you think is going to happen. Rhaenyra is someone who walks up to DRAGONS. She's got a different relationship with fate than a lot of people do. She knows, as a dragon tamer, that walking into danger is a show of strength. Also, I think she was acutely aware of the serious danger most of those people were undoubtedly in. She felt duty bound to offer them what little trust was available. (Granted, she cowered during the Cargyl bowl, but that wasn't a fateful dragon related event, but a couple dudes with swords and she was practically naked, and she didn't have anything to prove that night.)

    I don’t get how people are saying that daemon is being butchered as a character, I think that this arc brings a lot of depth to daemon and makes him question what he wants, it also shows that his way of doing things doesn’t work. I think it’s really interesting, yes a couple of the dream scenes could have been cut but most are pretty good. Maybe he is better in the book but still, I think he’s still a great character.

    • @kateris1976
      @kateris1976 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They made him way more cruel and vicious than he is in the books. Yes, he is a morally grey character to say the least and he's done a lot of awful things, but his behavior in this season is completely out of character. In the books he doesn't call himself king nor does he constantly try to undermine Rhaenyra, he didn't kill his first wife and he didn't ignore his daughters. They had filmed a scene with him hugging the girls after Laena's death and they cut it. Also, Condal himself more or less said that he doesn't like the appeal Daemon has to fans....so I suspect they're trying to undermine the character any way they can. One of the most fierce warriors of the realm whining like a baby and begging a witch to help him? Really? There is a line in the books, when someone says that six men will suffice to kill Daemon, another one answers "six men or sixty, he's still Daemon Targaryen". Does this seem to describe the man we saw this season??

    • @ZanderStentz
      @ZanderStentz 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@kateris1976 again you keep talking about the books, he is still a vicious character, but he’s trying to rule in this season and it shows how he can’t do that, maybe they shouldn’t have changed his character from the books, but I think that this arc of him wanting the Throne makes him more interesting and it sets up a lot of development where he comes to realization that he doesn’t want it. We also will probably see this more from daemon in the future now that he has an army and can command and fight.

This is a game of thrones show, therefore it will be compared to the peak seasons of got (1-4) which relied not on action but characters. This episode had great dialouge and great action. No.. dragons are genuinely that fast.. her killing Vhagar or attacking King's landing would result in a fight with Aemond in both cases.. she's clearly not confident in being able to fight the greens fully in a direct attack, cause if she was she would've done it there by attacking Vhagar.. but there's another certain outcome, even if they take vhagar down.. rhaenyra would have died most likely as well and I'd wager the sea smoke would die as well.. and then she doesn't know what Daemon will do since she doesn't know if he's still on her side at that exact moment that's why she didn't make a move there
