Wow, 12 years after it appeared in Inkscape, Adobe made a similar tool. What's next, will they bring back the ability to buy the app without a subscription?
This will save so much time Dan, I'd say it's revolutionary for Adobe and long overdue. Shame that other plugins have done this before as this is what Adobe should be doing. What the subs wanted for many years. Many thanks Dan.
After killing Freehand 2 decades ago to keep Illustrator's monopoly Adob is scraping it for 'new features'. Hope the subscribers are happy with the trickle.
Do try more capabilities offered in quick pen tool 1. Use Option/Alt + scroll to change the span of the arc being created. 2. You can simply click and drag any portion (anchor/line/curve/bezier) of the path to edit it. Its quite intuitive.
AI is marketing mojo... need something to get folks to shell out the $$ every month instead of buying the cheaper competition that does nearly all Adobe does for a ton less $$$
@@pesto12601 Are you joking? Sorry to fill you in but AI/ML technology is here to stay. It's not a 'marketing' thing or 'trend'. Its like the next leap in technology. If I were you I would start learning about it's benefits instead of riding the hater train like all the other fearful masses.
One reason they're focusing on AI/ML is because it's much harder to pirate those features and lowers the bar to entry for more users. Not saying I disagree, but just giving some context as to why a business may choose a certain path of development.
this will be incredibly useful as i do branding, and car wrap designs for a graphic design jobs. About time adobe came out with something remarkably useful.
I still think that Corel Draws Pen tool is so much intuitive as a designer. 1000 times faster than Adobe. 25 Years using both programs and I would chose Corel's pen tool everytime. This new thing seems ok, but when will it truly ever come in handy to use.?
4:20 - click and hold on the Line tool, that's been in there for a few generations... Cool new tool tho! Just wish they spent as much time fixing bugs, as they do adding new things.. 😕
4:34 theres literally a tool in the sidemenu specifically for spirals, and has been there for decades. Right click on the Line tool... Sure this update Is nice, but its quite an unessecary update. This shapes are super easy and fast to create with just the ellipse tool and the direct selection.. I think their efforts could've been nice elsewhere. Astute Graphics has so many insane features. Why isn't illustrator making their own versions of those tools. Not impressed by this new pen tool. Seems redundant.
They did a vaporware promo a year or so ago for an AI vector drawing / logo creation tool. It was in a video and it looked a lot like this - I wonder if they gave up on the AI tool as they realised it's a data based concept and then released this as a spin off or something. Either way, it looks useful.
Make it a web based tool as well to avoid crashing 😂😂 They won't even try it They'll just lose a lot of money that they get from individual software subscriptions
It looks amazing! Does anyone know if Adobe have fixed bugs in 2024 Illustrator yet? I know many people who had paths change in svg files (they went jagged when you saved and reopened the files) and grouping compound paths was not working either. I am using 2023 version now , but would love to try out new features - but also scared to go back into 2024 and Beta!!
@@ForeverDanskyThe Astute Graphics plugins are really awesome. They’ve moved to the subscription model as well, so they’re a bit pricey, but the Super Marquee tool alone has saved me hundreds of hours.
Why do people complains a lot about adobe's subscription that brings a lot of apps and say nothing about others subs which is almost the same price and makes only one thing

perfect for quick icon designs
Definitely!
Wow, 12 years after it appeared in Inkscape, Adobe made a similar tool. What's next, will they bring back the ability to buy the app without a subscription?
The first positive Adobe video I have seen this year!

Finally back to Freehand.
OMG I was literally going to say the same thing 👏🤩
Three decades on plus however long the Astute plugins have afforded this capability (probably Figma as well, but don't quote Us)
After killing Freehand 2 decades ago to keep Illustrator's monopoly Adob is scraping it for 'new features'.

Yes, I came to say exactly this
Do try more capabilities offered in quick pen tool
1. Use Option/Alt + scroll to change the span of the arc being created.

Thanks for highlighting this., it looks very intuitive.Hopefully it’ll be on next update.
Great demo. Especially enjoyed your descriptions for each icon you created. 😀
Thanks Jason! A lot of wibbly wobbly in there 😅
This is what I have been waiting for
Nice! That genuinly looks useful, thanks for highlighting!!
Wow, it seems very useful, can’t wait to use it
This was so fun to watch! How are you recording your screen? The quality when you zoom in is insane 🤯
Quality content Sir Dansky! It is now easier to create shapes! I love this new update! Thanks for the tutorial! :)
You're very welcome, glad it was helpful 😊
Looking forward to trying this when it comes out of beta
It's going to be very useful for certain shapes that's for sure!
Game-changer type of tool, and I don't use that word very often. Thanks for the video!
Glad it was helpful!
Illustrator finally invented the wheel 🥲
😂
Cool tools like this is what Adobe should be focusing on, not any of that generative AI nonsense…
New tools and upgrading existing features, definitely interests me more than the AI stuff.

Do like the ai fill stuff in PS
Finally getting close to Astute Manager's tools. Hate to use Illustrator 2021 for some precision tools.
this will be incredibly useful as i do branding, and car wrap designs for a graphic design jobs. About time adobe came out with something remarkably useful.
Awesome As Always
We deserve a treat for this Dansky. Order some pizza !!!!!
dang! this will be a fun tool to start playing w.
Excellent video, as usual.
Awesome tool AND demo!
Muito bom
Tutorial leve de assistir 🥳🇧🇷
Cool, thanks for the update.
You're welcome Steven 👊
Wow! Thats incredible!
Very useful addition
This is great!

Omg. Came here exactly for this 😊
GENIUS!!!❤
nice, I will love this tool
…know this from Astute Graphics, but this would really change my workflow… :)
Very handy tool! Are the curves flattened at the connection points on some of those?
Just use arc tool if you Are on old version
Crazy how all of these has been in concepts app for iPad
The Quick Pen Tool 😍
I think this kind of tool already available in mechanical modelling software like , IDK exactly autocad, solidworks, catia.
Great stuff. I hope it graduates out of Beta soon.

tell adobe that other than copying other products also reduce and ssr prices of these softwares at only 25cents
In which version this tool use..please guide anyone

Enjoyed this but no beta illustrator here in uk only web
Hi, I start illustrator, I got the version 29.1 but I don’t have this tool, it doesn’t exist
me too
Gosh, finally an adobe tool that isn’t ai.
there's been a spiral tool in illustrator for years.
Great for logos jeje
@4:57 I believe "slug" is the word you're searching for... 😁
why not tell adobe to merge all features and make a software that's combination of both photoshop and illustrator in one product?
Make it a web based tool as well to avoid crashing 😂😂 They won't even try it They'll just lose a lot of money that they get from individual software subscriptions
reminds me of arc tool from CAD
That would save so much time
This is a great tool.
Adobe should focus on these sort of tools instead of their generative AI ones.
the 30 degree snapping doesnt work for me (im on latest beta)
and the performance is really shit.. at least on windows.. (tried cpu and gpu mode, doesnt matter)
Oh, this feature that exist in C4D since 25 years 😂
- Super quick? No... Super close! Words!! HA!
Even don't know what more useful - your lessons (for my skills) or your comments (for my mood) 😄
I'm using Illustrator 2025 and can't find this quick pen tool! Anyone knows where it is, or how to access it?
So, so close to my dream of having angels snap to 15 degree increments across the board
⭐
How will you draw a crescent moon with this tool?
you are allowed to change arc span by using alt+scroll or alt+bracket keys
wait.. isn't it 3 in the morning there?
😅
@@ForeverDansky It's 5 here. I'm worse
04:21 in albania 😂
sama in Poland 😂@@kshkalla
same in Poland😂@@kshkalla
It makes you think why the hell they didn’t think this before! 😅
If adobe bring back one time buy 😢
took long enough, this has been around for ages in other programs
🎉

Lovely! Just if they show some love to Illustrator on iPad as well, it’s quite dead I guess
straight outta Archicad
Adobe Illustrator Beta on my PC at work is crashing HARD every time I use the new quick pen tool and I have no idea why🤡
THIS IS AN AMAZING TOOL FOR QUICK "WOOBLY WAABLY" SHAPES
😂Finally they cloned the inkscape spiro mode in its pen tool way to go
Creating with the pen tool and basic shapes is still faster, but it's cool they're exploring ideas.
Astute graphics already have this tools in a long time, but really don't know why so late adobe put this in their software.
I've not used their plugins before, but have heard good things 👍
They’re running out top of ideas, so anything to keep people from abandoning them right now.
Indeed. I agree with that @@oo0Spyder0oo
@@ForeverDanskyThe Astute Graphics plugins are really awesome. They’ve moved to the subscription model as well, so they’re a bit pricey, but the Super Marquee tool alone has saved me hundreds of hours.
sht. now i have to update my pirated illustrator. somehow 😢
Why do people complains a lot about adobe's subscription that brings a lot of apps and say nothing about others subs which is almost the same price and makes only one thing
Between a business and their customers, there's a number of different factors to consider beyond just the monetary cost of the subscription.
@@ForeverDansky are you talking about some actions they has taken that doesn’t respect the customer?
I cant have this....im using an old version of AI😅
can i have your wallpaper
Wibbly wobbly , lol.
Adobe sucks!
AI for Optimize Tool ✅
AI for Generative Tool 🤦
This program is so out of date respect to the others in the market. Need a real more intuitive version...
Adobe paid you to make this?
I don't think, He should have mentioned with that label 🏷️
Nope 😂
@@ForeverDansky they should 🤣
They should have made this AI - too many steps.
Ok this is cool.
