Don't be scared of it's size guys, it will be some of the best 80 hours of your life that you may have otherwise wasted scrolling on your phone or playing a thousandth meaningless match on your shooter of choice.
This game looks awesome, and a couple of friends recommended it to me, however 80 hours to finish it ufff it feels a bit daunting to take on....since i can maybe play 30min to an hour on sporadic days (maybe 3 or 4 a week if i really go all in), how many hours do you play per day? This game is like the Elden ring for Atlus. A studio that has consistently been putting out top tier games in a specific genre finally realises it’s full potential and unleashes it all with no hurdles in its path into this magnum opus and it is simply glorious.

Never played an atlus game before, the metaphor demo did not only sold me on metaphor, it also sold me on other atlus games like persona 5 royal already.
@@y0av359 Octopath Traveler 2 and Triangle Strategy are pretty good but they’re definitely not better than Persona 3 Reload and SMT5 Vengeance. FFVII Rebirth and FF16 are both mid. Pretty graphics, but gameplay and story are offensive to the classics of the PS1 era.

Really inconsistent that IGN’s initial review gave it a 9/10 but then votes it their IGN Game of the Year. If it won their GOTY, the review should’ve been a 10. It tells me that their initial review is just off or they just straight up did not get a full consensus when giving the score.

I think it could be argued that metaphor may be on par with the stories of the other ATLUS games, but I can see why a person would prefer one over the other. However, I think it’s uncontroversial to say metaphor is the most mechanically refined out of all of the SMT/Persona-esque titles, and this is both in and out of the combat system.
Graphically wise, not really. I think is better than persona 5 on characters, story, villains, story pacing and combat. There's less social links and their max level is only 8, less main dungeons/palaces, I prefer p5 ost.
How has my man not Oded JRPGs after reviewing all those!? My question: is this an ok game for people new(ish) to the genre? I got Ni No Kuni recently cause I wanted to try JRPGs out but I just can't get past the grind...I've wanted to try one of these for awhile. though.

I almost bought this game before I found out there are some "time limits" in it. I hate being time limited in games, especially jrpgs, so I gave up with it.
Lmao gamers only consider IGN a reputable source of reviews and an authority in the subject when their most waited games get a 9 or 10. Otherwise they are the scourge of the industry and the entire reason why a mediocre game failed to sell.
IGN has their best times far in the past. That said 9/10 for a big Atlus RPG from the Persona team isn't shocking anyone and its probably a really good game. If its about diversity video journalists will love it too, even if its a J-RPG with funny style.
It looks like something that was released 20 years ago, and it seems like you spend most of the time sitting around watching the game rather than playing it. Who wants to sit around watching dialogue in a game? That's what movies are for.
The prologue demo totally sold me on this game. It feels like a culmination of everything Atlus has put out so far.

This is one of my favorite jrpgs, and possibly games in YEARS. And the challenging game modes are actually pretty difficult, but rewarding at times.
The second they asked “you, you who is controlling this character, what’s your name?” They had me lol
And when your 'controlling character name' appears in the scroll in More's Akademeia (not spoiler as it's mentioned early on), it hooked me even more.
If one didn't enjoy Shin Megami Tensei V, does anyone know that individual would still enjoy Metaphor?

IGN has their best times far in the past. That said 9/10 for a big Atlus RPG from the Persona team isn't shocking anyone and its probably a really good game. If its about diversity video journalists will love it too, even if its a J-RPG with funny style.

Wow that English dub has got to be the best I've heard in a while.
It looks like something that was released 20 years ago, and it seems like you spend most of the time sitting around watching the game rather than playing it. Who wants to sit around watching dialogue in a game? That's what movies are for.
