Something about the simple spike design and grey used for the bg in End of Line coupled with Theory of Everything, and something about that gives me an oddly interesting vibe which makes me like the level
I’ve recently played some of MaJackO’s core levels, and it’s given me a whole new perspective on the map packs. For 2014 they’d probably be close to shit like Change of Scene compared to the rest of the war crimes the community was making.
That's kinda the thing; back in 1.6 most of the community was still figuring out how to make good levels so most of them were complete dogshit. RobTop had to choose the best of the worst for the Map Packs. From a modern perspective the Map Packs might seem terrible, but from an early 2014 perspective they probably were some of the best of what the Geometry Dash creating community had to offer.
Dude this is gonna be such a fun trip down memory lane. As much as most of the levels in the map packs suck ass I love the map packs man. I'm so excited for more of these to come.
Dude, I was just thinking of doing this, I have done it for every demon level already and just finished every map pack! Extreme fantasy for me was the absolute worst level I had to endure, and natural step was the best experience I had, can’t wait to see yours!
I beat all of them a long time ago... when I was a MOBILE player I remember beating one of the two hard demons while going on a bus xD Nice video and series 👍

Bro, thank you for letting me know that everyone actually find dreamland as a small challenge cause that level took me over 70 attempts and I have beaten 9 circles
I think I am one of 7 people in the entire cosmos that genuinely enjoyed these things. Most levels that people find bad I actually found enjoyable, so I think it’ll be very interesting to see how my overall positive opinions of these compare to someone else.
So, now that I’ve “beaten” all of them, here’s my opinion on the map packs. Also, by “beaten”, I mean I beat roughly 20% of them legit & then abused the 2.2.0 insta complete bug to bypass the rest of them. Most of the levels really stink, especially PG Clubstep, Skyfrost, Dynamic on Track, & Square Adventure, but there are a few shockingly great levels as well like Retray, Dorabae Basic 4, Tiny Tunes, Funnygame Holiday, 12 Clutterfunk, & Made in vuosaari. There’s no packs with all good levels but no packs with all insufferably painful levels. There’s just just too much fake based memory gameplay since it seems like that was the only way to make hard levels back then & that problem just gets worse the further you go into the Map Packs, especially with the insane & demon levels for the most part. Overall I’d give them all combined a 3.5/10 because while they’re still mostly trash, there are quite a few good hidden gems in here that deserve more respect.
(TL;DR large essay incoming) As someone who beat all of the map packs in a span of 2 weeks after getting the game again once 2.2 came out on mobile, I'm so looking forward to this upcoming series of yours, as you can hardly find in-depth reviews on them at all.(for good reason) To be fair, however, the sheer amount of them alone is enough to scare anybody off of reviewing them, let alone attempting to beat them. The ordering of the map packs could definitely use some work. While the attempt at arranging them from the easiest to the... "most" difficult ones of them all is thoughtful, I think the fact that you come across levels scattered in different update periods when you attempt to complete them in order(at least in the easier portion) comes off as a bit jarring, even after you've beaten all of Robtop's levels, especially once you get to the insane and demon packs, ALL of them being pre-1.9. This is why when completing them myself, I actually went through them in order of the updates they got released in, from 1.6, till 2.0, getting the worst of the outdated portion out of the way, and saving the best portion for last(For the 2.0 map packs, I played them in reverse order, ending off with Sonar in the Alpha pack, easily the best map pack of them all) While map packs are definitely far from great, and plenty of the difficult ones could easily be removed altogether, I weirdly find some value in quite a number of them, even in several ones that are pre-1.9. While there are undoubtedly some highly infamous levels scattered throughout them(for good reason), the map packs also happen to contain a handful of some pretty influential, incredible levels for their time, like Demon park(the level that gave birth to the demon difficulty), Retray(the unofficial gateway between Robtop levels and custom levels in my eyes), a few of Dorabae basic levels that act like the game's tutorials, and Funnygame's visually appealling creations like Funnygame holiday and Checkmate. Neptune's v2 series may just be Robtop remakes with generally buffed gameplay, but they still have some charm to them feeling like a second trial of Robtop levels for people who want a more difficult challenge. Getting through them all has definitely been an interesting experience, but I'd hardly call it the worst thing ever. It's a somewhat nice archive of showing just how different the levels were like back then, and even though plenty of them have aged very poorly, or got ruined by 2.0 updates(and some of them straight up sucked from the very beginning), I think most of what did get frontpagged into the map packs could be worse. Imagine if stereo madness v4 was a map pack level. Side note: I honestly think Generation Retro would've fit right in perfectly if it was featured in one of the 2.0 map packs instead of being the finale of the Poison gauntlet. It has got everything you could expect from a typical map pack level, and I'm sure it wouldn't have gained its infamy(at least not as much as it did) if this was the case. Earned yourself a sub, enjoyed this video, and wishing you luck for the rest of this series. You're gonna need it.
I don't think there's anything masochistic about wanting to do something that you consider important and ignoring the pain while doing it. We never actually got a full map packs review, it needed to happen some day.
13:41 I think that this is why they are hated. there are SO many levels that get absolutely HATED just because of a mis-rate or the wrong map pack, to the point that even the more mediocre levels just get absolutely shredded into pieces.
8:21 Giga-based take on Retray. I always found it kind of boring compared to the other easy map pack levels, no idea how it became one of the most popular levels of all time
I'll probably try and finish the map packs when I beat Poltergeist. In the meantime though, phew. I've beaten all of the non demon ones, and some of them feel like playtesting was just a suggestion
one thing that makes me hate retray is the ship portal at the top of the level at 10:23, because if you don't know, going through it tells you the level's password and then just... kills you... in probably the first online level one would ever play and to make matters worse, the third coin hasn't appeared AND it's invisible, so I don't blame anyone for assuming it's a coin especially considering what stereo madness did, but no, it just kills you

I think it would work better if you just treated the UFO Pack and the Fast Pack as one level and reviewed them along with whatever bunch of three they happen to come up on, because 1) it would just flow a lot better since you aren’t saying the same thing over and over, and 2) it would allow you to end the last bunch of three with the 65th and final map pack
