- This definitely will take you some time if you try to build one for yourself as there are no plans and I had to "design-on-the-fly" certain parts of it. All I have to do is add the sensor and computer from the original machine and it will be finished. I paid $20 for the Nordic Track on Craig's list and probably another hundred or so in parts and lumber but the largest expense was my time and sweat. I think it turned out great, but it was a lot of time and labor for something my wife doesn't want to let inside the house.
NOTE: The balance ball idea did not work out as the ball tended to lift the rear of the machine. What worked out much better was a simple balance disc placed on top and used as a seat. Much better result.

Pretty nice DIY and Ben is the man :)
Ben IS the man.
Hard to believe he is heading off to college in 1 month.
@@DaveTheKayaker Time really flies by (too) fast. All the best in college.

Do you think you could do this with an old exercise bike?
No. The Nordic Track has special bearings that roll one way but "catch" the other way.
RivannaHipSnap depending on how you set the pulley system up, I would not think it would matter that the bearings catch going backwards.
can i see the pullies and springs underneath?
