Beautiful work! I've been smoking a pipe for about 15 years and always wanted to make one myself. Briar is pretty expensive so I've bought a piece of pear wood for my first try. Wish me luck!
Thanks! It is very rewarding to create your own smoking pipe. Have not tried pear wood yet but I have heard it is one of the prefered spieces If not using briar. Do you have any idea regarding the shape you want to make? 😀

Thank you for the instruction, very well done. You asked about lasers. I personally own the XTOOL P2 55 Watt CO2 laser as well as the F1. Both are excellent products with included software that is easy to learn and use. Be prepared for sticker shock, they are not inexpensive but if you have multiple uses for them, they will pay for themselves and are very precise. CO2 works on organic materials like wood, but also plastics whereas the infrared laser is used for metals. Some metals require a marking compound. If you don't need a large working area, I would recommend the F2 Ultra as it can do deep engraving on metals but was not available when mine came out. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thank you very much for this comment! I think it is a djungle trying to find a "prosumer' level laser with a nice price and with good enough features. I am leaning towards the F2. Thank you very much 🙂
Thank you for this video, it turned out to be a beautiful pipe. I use the same manufacturer for the glaze. However, I first color my pipes a dark color. I then sand this down again with fine sandpaper (1000 or higher) to make it easier to see any unevenness and, in my opinion, the grain then comes out better. Only then do I apply the final color.
Thank you! It became very obvious to me after I published the video :) next box will include this. A similar build will be uploaded soon. Where i will spend time to make it more practical. Thank you for the comment 😀
I'm glad you are enjoying the sarcasm. This project is a really nice and pretty simple If you have the right tools. Can really reccomend buying a dremel.
@@HallbeamDesign That's actually what gives me inspiration to try this. I have most of the tools you used. I just need the Dremel drill press to get a straight hole drilled.
@kyllbs1 when I started making pipes i actually just made the hole without a drill press, with a modified drill bit. My first video on youtube shows this (the voiceover is really not that well made but is very informative) The dremel drill press is really nice though 😀
Great video , really enjoyable . Handcrafted items are always much better and more meaningful . You made a beautiful pipe and accessories box and the gentleman it was for can enjoy them for years to come. Thanks for sharing and I'm going to subscribe . Warm wishes from England .

Hey man, been enjoying the channel so far even if I've only gotten around to the pipe videos so far, keep up the good work! Where do you buy your supplies for the pipes like stems, silver rings and what not? I've been looking around but haven't found a good website or store for that stuff in Sweden, thanks in advance man👍

Shipping to Sweden will take about 2-6 days. If you have any questions you could reach out to me on my instagram hallbeamdesign. God lycka till ditt pipbygge!
Good video. I am also a new-ish wooder and have a tip to share with you. Use a bit of your carnauba wax on your brass "any" screws. It really works well. Oh and by the way, thanks a lot... now I want to try to make a pipe!
Thanks for the tip! It is very rewarding to creage ypur own pipe. It's a small nice project and If you fall you could always create something that I did in my most recent video! 😀
Not that I know of. The carnauba wax should not be affected by rhe heat of the pipe as it is quite resistant to heat. Most of the the wear of the wax comes from friction.
The Dremel is not always the right tool. Use a sharp knife to cut the perimeter of the hinges. Then remove the wood to the right depth with a very sharp chisel. This way these holes will be crisp and sharp. A rotary tool makes messy corners.
My problem is that I dont have any really sharp chisels as seen in this video. One of my next things to buy is a bench grinder with a sharpening stone or a nice piece of "japanese" sharpening Stones.
I love the video! im not Swedish, but my wife is so i understand a bit. I had to laugh when you said this on 27:12 hahah Lovely work on the pipe! Bra Job
I see that you have your own channel on TH-cam where you are doing content with smoking pipes. What are your top 3 favorite designs for a smoking pipes?
This is not a billiard buddy A billiard has the length of the shank equal to the height of the bowl This is just a stem without a shank and a bowl Quite ugly!
Not always. The "Stubby" or "Nosewarmer" billiard has a shorter shank. Pipes come in all manner of shapes and sizes, you can't really apply an absolute to a definition.
Enjoyed every second. As a woodworker looking to improve his skill with minimal tools, this video has helped me. Thanks for your content 😊

Hi!
Great video. Thanks for share.
What wood stain you used for the pipe. And what colour?
Leather dye is TAN. There are more colors by the same brand and a bottle to make it less intensive.
@@HallbeamDesign Thank you
No worries! I have also tried some ordinary wood stain but I prefer the leather dye due to it being more potent.

Yes, but I think you will have to reapply it quite often. Carnauba wax is extremely durable and heat resistant compared to bees wax 😀
