  • An update on my 2002 Harley Davidson Night Train that I decided to convert over to a bagger. A garage project that's taken some time, but nearing completion. Fuel injected Twin Cam 88, Stage 1 & Stage 2 installed. 5 speed transmission, Hard Saddlebags and custom mounting, Custom Dynamics LED lighting replaced all OEM lighting. Blacked out & V-Twin intentionally left chrome. Ultra Cool oil cooler, Chin spoiler, Stretched side covers, Lapera bare bones solo seat, etcetera ,etcetera

I really need to update this. I've since added black 16" DNA apes and a black Arlen Ness Monster sucker air cleaner. Looks even better with the apes in my opinion, but I am biased :)

Where did you get the side covers? I’ve been looking for some for my 2006 night train thank you

Here ya go! Mine are stretched covers on non stretched bags so I kicked the bottom out and they line up perfect with the bottom of my bags and still look good. They're pricey but help a TON with the wind blast from big rigs against the front of the bags.

Where did you get the bagger kit from?

I modified an aftermarket bag system something like this one on Ebay www.ebay.com/itm/Vivid-Black-Hard-Saddlebags-W-Conversion-Brackets-For-HARLEY-97-17-Softail-FXST/152555512527?epid=19020097686&hash=item23850462cf:g:5BIAAOSwGJlZIII8 I significantly modified/chopped the rack so that I could attach the side covers and completely hide the rack system, I also modified the back of the rack to mount my license plate below the rear fender and accept the bag fillers that I made.

Is it too late to ask? That looks so fine, I'm thinking of something similar with my '08. How serious were the modifications - what kinds of tools did you need? Any cutting on the frame? Why did you go with stretched covers over not-stretched bags? That's a really nice bike by the way

Badass brother. I was looking into putting some hard bags on mine but was curious to how the pipes would affect the bag. Is it possible to run a stretched bad?

My bags aren't stretched so I wouldn't know on that but I can tell you that because I made the rear bag spacers and put the custom side covers on it does trap some heat and exhaust because my pipes end under that area. It doesn't get hot enough to affect the bags or the contents in the bags. Eventually I will switch to a 2 into 1 exhaust that turns out right before the side covers to vent the exhaust out and away .

Memphis Shades El Paso sportshield. But I also wrapped the lower tinted portion with vivid black wrap to give it a kind of a fairing look also making it match the tank and fender paint. The tinted shield was dark, but not dark enough. It's a quick disconnect mount. memphisshades.com/products/el-paso-sportshield-windshield-harley-fxstb-softail-night-train
