The exact location of the firefight is unkown but the video clearly shows a heavy firefight going on mostly filmed from a overwatch position.

Ak's are good at punching holes and reliable while the M4 is good at accuracy and traveling/tumbling through the body and disabling the target. The whole AK vs M4 debate is like peanut butter vs jelly, both have pros and cons.

That wasn't a round impact, and even if it was it wouldn't have been that close.
A guy hip firing at you from 600 meters away will still likely hit some rounds whitin 5 meters or so of you.
It is very easy even for an untrained man to hit rounds whitin 5 meters of their target, hitting a human sylouette is much harder

Went to the campaigns when I became young man, was medically retired.
Went through rehabilitation, I started a Buisness.
Now I have a family and my almost 9 year old son is learning about the war from mom and dad. We are both combat veterans.
My son will probably have to go there when he’s 18 if he joined the army.

I like the tactics of 50 years ago when we called artie, got them on target, then told them fire for effect.
Well artillery isn’t always available, they sometimes have it if they were lucky but it’s still difficult to roll it into enemy territory.

You leave that fortified position. Well a detachment does, fire team or simply scouts.. to scout the firefight are while the rest of the unit covers the advancing troopers.

Great illustration of the fog of war. Every time a bullet hits the dirt, or a wall, it makes dust, a few machine guns get going and nobody can see more than a couple hundred feet.

I've seen some of the technology the military has to pin on point almost exactly where enemy fire is coming from, especially on the autonomous assault vehicles, so why don't they deploy some of that tech to help our soldiers out?

I used to wonder why they just randomly shoot at nothing, all the while wasting ammo. But when you really look at the situation, they only know approximately where the enemy is shooting from but can see them, so they kind of have to just shoot in that surrounding area.
