This is absolutely beautiful to watch.
I've been making molds on Zbrush for a while but Blenders features look awesome.

Thanks for the video. Noobie to Blender and 3d printing, thought I would try for making my molds

Hello. Nice video and very clear.
But i think that you need a inner part for ther mold , the core. in this way the object will be a full block not a vase. rightt?

No. This is for slip casting (which is my full time business) so it definitely works this way.

@@driplabceramics then please help me understand how you get a vase if your mold, after casting, is going to be full?
do you use a lathe to extract the material and take the shape of a vase inside?

    What’s this addon you use?

Thanks for sharing. I am wondering if you have any insight into the best way to make a parting line along a curve of a model? I am new to Blender, however I have used Meshmixer for years and am trying to make the switch to using blender. What I'd like to be able to do is create a shell of an stl, then create parting lines along complex curves in order to make the parting lines less obvious in the final cast, minimize print time/mold thickness and reduce the number of parts to the mold required for complex shapes. Here's a video of a multi-part mold done in Meshmixer that is along the lines of what I'm trying to do in Blender.

You can do that with face sets in Blender using Extract Face Set ... its pretty similar. I actually prefer to use an addon called Black Mesh for this, which works sort of like Live Boolean in Zbrush (but better IMO.) I use a basic remeshing process to create the seam lines by extruding verts that stick to the surface. Then I use those seam lines to make boolean objects that I slice up the sculpt with. BlackMesh makes this a non destructive process so its easy to keep making tweaks.

@@driplabceramics It would be great to get a video that demonstrates how you use the addon with different shaped objects and faces e.g. a smooth curved surface, and a rigid but rotated surface, or a 4 part mold (base, with three parts around the object)
