That was awesome. I was smiling ear to ear watching it. I am in NY and it is now going to be visible just after sunset. I only hope I can get similar pics.
Thank you for the video, this helps a lot. I am shooting the comet tonight in California. Comet is setting behind the sun at 15deg. I will have about 20 mins of good light.
Awesome work guys!! I'm going to go up a mountain road with pull-offs which face west to try to get a shot just after sunset tomorrow night. It's going to be tight, the comet will only be 7 degrees above the horizon and setting. The next few days are going to be cloudy but I'll definitely have a second chance, though it'll be dimmer by then (Thursday is next clear night predicted.
This is so awesome!! My solo trip to the big island and Maui was the impetus to get my first mirrorless camera and I really wish I’d had more time before the trip to learn. I spent some time learning the very basics about my camera, but the little things (like setting a 2 second timer for long exposures) didn’t even cross my radar. I got some pretty good (by my definition and that’s what counts right?!) shots while I was out there and they will definitely help me remember and enjoy the trip for years to come (which was the goal) but I do have some regrets!
Great video and great capture. I hear it is coming back in view from October 9 and should be seen during the sunset. Is that accurate? Any tips? I haven’t done any Astro photography.
Thanks for sharing all this valuable information. I have my work cut out for me the next 3-4 days trying to use my android on a tripod.. WHAT IS THE QUACKING SOUND EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE??
A truly wonderful video - but if this is "the Comet of the Century," it's going to be a pretty dull century. Where I live, the comet looked OK in binoculars but was only barely visible to the naked eye for one evening. You're very lucky to live where you do.
Nice video! I am a bit confused tho lol. The thumbnail says comet ATLAS, which I would have assumed is this months extremely bright comet C/2024 S1 (ATLAS) , but then the video at 0:16 says C/2019 Y4 (ATLAS). But then in the video you are clearly photographing comet C/2023 A3 (Tuschinshan-ATLAS).
I have gone to one of the lake in Toronto 2 times in the morning. I have no idea why I can not see it. The direction is correct and the weather is nice no cloud.
I believe the further up from the equator you are the less time u have with it, at least when it was happening before sunrise… but maybe im wrong, and things might have changed by now
maybe im missing something but...why do they say comets dont follow earths rotation when CLEARLY you have proven they do. that comet is literally going the exact same speed as the stars are and is following the rotation at the exact same time as them. you can see the stars next to it dont even move away from the comet. they are in sync.
I dont recall making that statement… but it is kinda true… Unlike stars that are predictable in where they are in relationship to one another, comets move position depending on how far away from us they are… think of it as the moon, sometimes itll rise or set at different times depending on the phase and position, but once visible in the night sky, they comet or moon will move at the same speed of the stars… hope that clears things up
@@spencerlee808 not you, i was speaking in general about how people say comets dont follow earths rotation. but clearly your camera caught an exact following.
Despite the “crack heads” and the “peace out” comments, a really enjoyable video, thanks! Maybe darken your LCD next time? For us and your poor pals...
Lol i did see neowise and was more impressed by that one… the astronomers say comet of the century i guess technically its supposed to be bigger than neowise… but photographically its not as nice as neowise
wenderful photos and great work, thanks for sharing
The moon, comet, AND a meteor at 12:05 is so perfect, wish my clouds would go away already
I was about to write it in the comments too
And 13:45
Clouds are our enemy! If can get up to altitude definitely do it!
Amazing - you can see everything so clearly even on the video. That comet looked epic!

Great video and great capture. I hear it is coming back in view from October 9 and should be seen during the sunset. Is that accurate? Any tips? I haven’t done any Astro photography.
From where i live its visible right after sunset… in the same general position of the sun!
Your behind the scenes is amazing, what set up did you have to see you photographing the person with the light pointing up and able to see the comet?
Used f5.6, 10 sec, iso1600 with my old Canon rebel xti. Got some good pics.
You got a meteor also. ❤
Hilo side? what time? I live in Waikoloa so no sure if I can see it from here..... great video
Mauna kea but facing hilo… but now since its after sunset can prob see em in kona side easy after sunset
@@spencerlee808 Thx bro.
Nice video !!! Can you tell us what camera & lens that was used to do the video ? Thanks in advance !
Zve1 + 24mm GM

@@spencerlee808 LOL good stuff,,, thanks again
The clouds at sunset have not been cooperating where I live... Oh well, perhaps tonight is the night...

great video what was the light you was using in the foreground
Thats just a standard camera flash with a strobe bulb
incredible. now do a video of your attempts on Oahu
Just posted!

Yep! I messed up on the caption in the video🤣
Can you share the settings of timelapse .. how many shots and intervals ?
I believe i had this set at 1 second intervals in aperture priority… but sped up for the video

You are one week early

@@spencerlee808 You are right. Even right now the comet has change to show up after sunset. I still not see it!!!! My god!! Where is your location?
i have only 85mm that enough for comet .
how many degree of comet rise that you take on that day maybe 5 degree ?
my plan on october 20. thank you
85mm should be good!
How odd that the text in the video says C/2019 Y4 (ATLAS) whereas the text beneath the video has the correct designation.
I done messed up with the video text🤣
Awesome comp, but f4 😥
Ikr! 😅 i need to invest in more prinses
Comet of the century… I think you mean untill now or of the past 100 years?
Ive got now idea tbh🤣its just what the astronomers r saying

Bwahahahaha! Just used a Samsung G21 and no problem photographing it... The images are gorgeous.
