Before you get a R you need to upgrade the trx. Pulleys intake and injectors
You don't owe anyone an explanation. It's your channel and you can do whatever you want. I agree keeping the TRX is the way to go. A pulley swap and a tune might be interesting to see...
Made a great decision in my opinion. Save that $110,000 for that condo down in Florida. The TRX is a beast of a truck and I'm looking forward to the future content you have planned for it..
I agree with you Mike 👍🏾 if there was somewhat of a difference between the two trucks I would understand but 110k and the only changes is the engine I would be cool to.
Not pissed off, you should always do what you feel is best and what makes sense for you. Besides, I love the TRX and the RS7 so, you are really good in my book from a content standpoint 👊👍
I agree completely! The TRX is a beast and the Raptor R isn’t special enough to justify the cost. I have found myself in the same predicament lately. I ordered one the day the banks opened but now seeing them and hearing them on TH-cam…they just don’t excite me the way the TRX does.
Itd be cool to see you do some mods to the trx. Smaller pulley, tune, turbos

I’m glad you are an honest guy and are being smart about your buying decisions. Really thought myself that would be a silly move for you. Love your Audi and trx. Try and do some more off roading with it and jump it again.
I placed an order (with allocation) for a V6 Raptor on April 3rd, 2022. 35", Antimatter Blue, Rhapsody Blue interior with 801A and sunroof/tailgate packages. I still do not even have a VIN or build date. Don't feel bad.
With regard to the Raptor R, I just don't see any value for THAT much extra money. (Yes, you still need to consider value, even at a six figure price point!) Aside from the motor, there are some minor mechanical changes and the exclusive black interior. I don't think that comes near to justifying the $25K base price increase.
I would have done the exact same thing in your situation and I agree the Raptor R just isn't different enough from a regular raptor.

FUN FACT A: I plan to get the 2023 RAM 1500 Rebel here in Canada...with our winters starting in November and ending just after Mother's Day (no kidding), you NEED 4x4 just to get errands done at times. FUN FACT B: I discovered your channel 2-3 years ago, and went right back and watched your review videos when you were still with Moon Township Ford and still had the Ford Focus lol. Been watching ever since.
Things happen for a reason and to be honest you are totally correct about the Raptor R not being that special other than the V8!! Keeping the TRX is definitely the smart choice as I truly believe that it is the better overall “Badass Teuck” out there!!😊

Definitely agree with you, they didn’t do enough to make it that special over the regular Raptor in my opinion.
For that premium, they should’ve reserved the 37s for the R. Maybe also spec’d it with the fox race suspension.
Why would they need to tho? EVERY performance/off-road aspect of the “base” Raptor is superior to the TRX aside from the power output, so take care of that, throw on some unique exterior/interior trim lil higher level & call it a day
@@MS-mr4zm As an owner of a Gen 2 Raptor and then buying a TRX you couldn't be more wrong. Ford was still putting those shitty leaf springs on the Gen 2 truck, it was only after the TRX came out that it forced Ford to actually put the proper 5 link setup on it. The interior makes my 2020 Raptor look like a joke.
@@robertwilson1664 yeah really the only things that make me want a gen3 are the coilover rear & the nicer interior lol! From exterior perspective tho I still think the gen2 looks better, all that being said- I had a 2018 gen2 that got totaled & the car market was just starting to go crazy November of 2020 & the gen3’s weren’t out yet, & I can’t deal w/ single digit mpg & I like being able to drive in 2wd (which aids in the mpg dept too) so I got another 2020 gen2. As it stands, I normally try to avoid the first couple model years of a redesign, but that’s especially true when that also overlaps w/ “Covid era builds” & supply chain constraints that make manufacturers cut out options &/or source shoddy parts from unknown suppliers. I have a set of deaver +4HD leafs & adjustable fox factory 3.0’s to go on my 2020 when the time comes, only 42k miles on it now I’ll wait til it hits 50k & I’ll see if all the kinks are worked out on the gen3 I’ll get a last model year one of those too- the 2026 lol
Sorry you lost the allocation for your Raptor R but if it didn’t jive with you than it is what it is. You should look into taking your TRX down to LMR and getting them to do one of their packages. You won’t get beaten by another Raptor R or any other TRX. Keep up the great work!
I honestly was looking between first ,second gen Raptor or The Mavericks and ended up getting RAM 1500 with full warranty on it , Think you can't go wrong with Mavericks every day car, but love my Ram once you go RAM hard leave it some how I had 4 RAMS and always was FORD or Chevy Truck guy lol but can't say anything bad. Just meant be I guess

Personally think you should do some cool stuff to the TRX. Be different. Go compound boosted, do e85, etc.
Smart decision…best of both worlds my man. Raptor and TRX in the driveway. Can’t go wrong.
I agree the trx looks made for the job the raptor r seems more a after thought. ye the raptor r is fast but seems very unstable at times weaving all over road
I woild like to see more of that small pickup. Everyday use, compared to the big brother. Nice that you can fit it in the garage, no snow blowing.
I do not understand the pickup trucks at all when you are using them only for transportation of people. They look cool, no doubt about it. But if you occasionally put a 65" TV in the bed and that is it -why? I'm sure that if and when you need a pickup you can rent one and it will be cheaper then owning it. It's not just fuel economy, there are tyres, maintaining those big components is more expensive too. But everyone deserves to spend their money however they like.
I am actually more excited for your Maverick videos... can you put it in reverse doing 60mph?

Coincidentally I picked up my Raptor R 3 weeks ago, which I love by the way; and last week I bought a Maverick which I’ll be flying out to Kansas to pick up this weekend to bring back to Cali as my daily for work purposes to put the miles on during the week.

I’ve seriously considered getting a maverick when I get rid of my ‘22 F-150 eventually. Had a slammed Mazda in the 90’s, want a mini truck again.

I completely understand man... I personally like the F150 much more, but i haven't had one. You've had several, so it's nothing new. It just isn't worth it indeed. Keep the TRX bc it seems the right truck for you. You always have a smile on your face when driving it except when filling her up 😄
Driver and heavy rims and tires helped your Trx lose that race. I’m in the same situation I have a 2022 Trx and have way of obtaining a Raptor R. But the more I think about the two trucks are way to close in specs to justify the difference in cash. Keep your Trx !
Pulley and tune on the trx. You’ll walk the r and have a better truck with a couple stacks left over.

I’d say not getting Raptor isn’t the worst thing , you could get a Ranger Raptor. Up here 🇨🇦 You’d save over $145,000 🇨🇦. Keep up great content!
I don't blame you not wanting to spend 40k plus over sticker. Search around, tfl just bought a raptor r from Brighton Ford in Colorado for sticker. I like the trx and the raptor is just awesome but for content do more trx mods like swap in a non awd tcase so u get 2wd mode and can do some nasty burn outs! Then if u can find a new r for sticker buy it and sell the trx and modify the r. I definitely want to see more truck content, not a car guy myself but each to there own. Keep up the good work!

I personally think that’s a better option is you keeping the TRX. Like even if you still had a allocation for one, you should still keep the TRX, it’s different and that way you wouldn’t have 2 Ford trucks it would be a Raptor and a TRX that makes for much better content, it opens up the possibilities.
I'm biased to the raptor r but I understand what you mean I feel that this rendition should've had a supercharged 7.3l Godzilla maybe a short cab meaner body fenders and some exotic paint schemes maybe it would be worth the extra money but as it sits trx still has the most powerful v8 engine so they basically shot themselves in the foot so to speak

Had a 2014/2017 Raptors, then moved to the TRX ($81k factory order/$93,400 MSRP (price locked + dealer discount from the popular little dealership in Granger IA). Exactly the antics many of us foresaw happening, even Ford skipping SEMA last year was a biblical 'canary in the coal mine' they don't give a F about the enthusiast market.... Mind boggling and ironic they provided a press vehicle "R" for you to use, surely a confidence boost your order would be honored! Crazy.... 702 > R
Yeah, I've seen 1 for $189,000 down here in Georgia these people are crazy. I'm a Ford guy but that TRX 2 package for $88,000 is probably the best move

Definitely keep the TRX. Sure, the R is the new kid on the block and the Ford faithful have been waiting for years for the V8 to return. But it is hard to fathom paying even $5000 over for an R that isn't better than a TRX. And yes, the intentionally low allocation from Ford is what is driving the prices up, that will persist for a while.(Town and Country is a very high volume Ford dealer, yet they're only allocated 2. So you can imagine how tough things are out there). Its just not worth it to go the R, especially since they can't be tuned with the locked PCMs.

This is completely apples to oranges but I feel this way about the Maverick. They are not able to be ordered and the orders closed in 5 days for the 23’s and no one has allocations. 22’ orders went over to 23’ as well and some of those people had theirs cancelled also. The ones you can get are going for thousands or more over msrp making it undesirable and something I wouldn’t do. Hope you can get one dude but if not the trucks you have are awesome and there will be other vehicles. Good luck and I look forward to whatever you end up with. I’m sure it will be cool and entertaining regardless 😀

That's the thing I don't get, content. What content is he gonna do with the Raotor R that he hasn't already done with the TRX? Wheels? Obnoxiously loud exhaust? More 0-60s? He's already said there's no good place around to go off roading so the content would be the same, just a different vehicle.

Can't be worse than Ford 😂 their quality and reliability is terrible recently. They had windshields fly off f150 models and im not talking about transmission drivetrain issues and a crap load of recalls

A 1000 percent behind you. TRX is way different and it is you! Take that money you saved and get that new home that your soulmate wants. Hopefully, after you get settled in to your home. Ford will finally wake up and make the Raptor R different from the regular Raptor.

I def wouldn't pay over for a truck. I understand the being a youtuber wanting to be first... but the over prices are insane. Your content is the best no matter what you're driving.
Street Speed broke his Raptor R straight from jump street. No pun intended. I had a Gen 2 Raptor and the 10spd was a nightmare. The gt500 motor has issues and not proven yet in the Raptor R, and finally the price….my Word. I’ll keep my TRX!
