I will just say about participation trophies. I've been a teacher for 15 years, and a life coach for 8. I've coached a lot of people. I will say one of the biggest problems we have is not giving enough participation trophies. The biggest problem we have is only rewarding outcomes, not rewarding effort. What we know about how our brains work, is that we make mistakes constantly, and the only way that we improve, is to have the confidence to keep pushing through and getting up and trying again. If we teach our kids to that it is okay, and to award their own efforts, instead of the outcome, they will learn how to not give up. Most of us have learned how to keep striving and going, purely to compare ourselves to other people. That is a really soul-sucking form of motivation that causes all types of depression and anxiety later in life. So many of us adults go through deep depression because we're constantly comparing ourselves to others.
Mike making a big fuss about Jason not being able to draft dining room chairs included with the dining room table and then drafting a smaller couch and saying it's not a couch is insane lol
I learned how to change my oil, as a woman, I was super proud to tell my dad. When I told my dad (who is super frugal and changes his own oil), he proceeded to tell me that I was being stupid. That I was wasting money because it takes the technicians at Jiffy Lube 10 minutes and it takes me hours and then I have to take the oil to be recycled and my time was worth more money. While he had a point (and I have never changed my oil since), I was pretty bummed out that he wasn't proud of me.
It's a good skill to have, and it's awesome that you took the initiative to learn on your own! I would suggest shopping around your area at car shops and dealerships, though. I have a dealership near me that offers 39.99 oil changes. It'd cost more than that between the oil and the filter to do it myself, so that's what I usually do. Local quick lube is usually 125+ so if that were my only option, I'd do it on my own.
While he may have a point, I think the fact that you learned how to do it is awesome. Major props to you. I think it's a great skill to have regardless of frequency of use.
A TV tray table should have been somebody's last pick... so versatile, you can set that up anywhere and use it for anything, and then you can just take it with you room by room
Reminding your xhildren that failure is part of life is actually effective parenting. Trophies are weird, but celebrating their effort is actually the most important. If you avoid them after failure theyll learn that is how you respond to failures vs encouraging them to keep trying despite failures. If you only reward success, you actually set them up for more failure since life has more failing than succeeding. You aren't giving them trophies for failing, you're celebrating that they tried. If they see you're only pleased when they win/do well, tbat will lead to an unhealthy relationship with success and failure. Reward working bard, not just the outcome.
This episode made my heart hurt. I grew up where my parents had money to fix my car. But told me I had to fix it myself. Oil filter can be changed from top or bottom dependent on vehicle and point of reach
Did we just witness the last highway to spell? They’re so over that game 😂
I'm so over that game 😴

the hideaway-bed/sofa was the 1.01, and went undrafted....travesty, also futon and lunch tray...guys were off their game today
Jason and Mike were on one this episode lol
Futon slips thru the draft
I want to hear the desk story sooo bad!
Just came here to say “mammel” 😂
nah, thats a sacrelig 😂😂
Jason definitely did talk about his dad's calves 😂!
Is there a reason Andy dressed up as Jay today?
Jason and I have the same fear with the elevator

I'm proud of Kim

@@SjDynasty 😆I was pretty butt hurt at the time, but I'm over it and he was actually right. But I appreciate the support.

Mammel 😂
I’m 25 years old and I change my own oil, rotate and change my tires, and any routine maintenance
Jason really should have drafted a futon. He is going to be so tired!

Can we get a video of Jason changing the oil in a car?
Came to TH-cam for mammel and mikes looking jacked

21:18 is how my father died when I was 7.
environmental companies pick up the used oil and they do re-refine it. Companies like Safety Kleen and GFL.
We have totes for people to drop their used oil and we burn it in a used oil burning stove.
Andy, were you going for a car crash scat?
Sofa bed, futon...
Changing your oil is sooooo chill. Pop the plug out, go doom scroll for 30min, put the plug back in and fill er up!
You should try a reverse spelling bee. Someone spells a word out loud and you have to name the word
Andy, you should have taken a sofa bed instead. Best of both worlds.
If you listen to Andy on 2x speed, he sounds like Ben Shapiro
No one took a futon? A couch and a bed. Uncomfortable but functional.
First 😁
GG!
I mean MEN, change their own oil. It’s easier than riding a bike 😂
Does it count that I know how but don't because my dad said it is stupid for me to do it?
