For what it’s worth, Matt said on his show today that as a long time fan of Rogan he always wanted to go on there and talk about some wild conspiracy stuff like aliens or the moon landing, and so was thrilled when this came up-he intentionally brought it up. Matt actually did an additional 12 minute segment about it on his show today lol. So, for everyone saying that Matt was held hostage and obviously wasn’t enjoying the discussion, no, that’s just his personality. He was definitely loving the Joe Rogan Experience.
Yeah if anyone is afraid or offended by reality that's a huge red flag. The American government has lost it foothold on making pretend they don't lie/run psych ops on the world. This is partly why they hate the internet and free speech.
I don't think so. He brought up the moon landings because he used it as a leading question anticipating finding common ground with th rogan. He had to go into the weeds once he realised rogan want onboard. It became clear very quickly that its a subject he knows next to nothing about. Yet he kept digging his heels in every time another piece of evidence was brought up. That and saying having an open minded to something controversial (in this case flat earth topic) was appalling just exposed his lack of scientific approach and objectivity. It doesn't matter what the topic is, there is no off limits subject that you cannot entertain. To claim so whilst being in a battle against trans ideology and compelled speaxh is incredible. Massive fail for matt.
@@TheBenevolentDictatorship first reply got deleted, hmm. What I said was matt asked the question assuming Joe was also an apollo believer. He got dragged into the weeds because of his misjudgement. Matt knee jerk denied everything rogan said. He cannot be open minded when his stance on certain topics is to ridicule those who remain open to new information
Thank you. I'm relieved to read this. I'm a fan of both these gentlemen, and that section of the podcast ... I found myself yelling in my car and telling Joe to let it go and honestly telling him to shut up. I like hearing Joe, but I like hearing his guests as well, and for a long section in this podcast.... just under an hour (approx) ... it was devoted to Joe talking about the moon. I wanted to hear Matt talk more. Even about the moon .... let's hear Matt's take. He didn't get much of a chance. I think Matt said at one point that the last time he spoke about a "conspiracy theory" he received a lot of hate from it ... a lot of blow back. It felt like Joe barely took a breath for an hours worth of moon talk.
@charleswalker6540 People give Walsh crap all the time based on short YT clips and Tweets. Especially those on the Left. But if people actually sag down and watched his show each day, they'd see he's very rational and his arguments are very good
Well I'm In 1:15 Now, And Joe Isn't Letting Matt Give A Whole Thought. It's Like Joe Is Talking Just With Joe. I Hope The Rest Of It Get's Better With That. Joe Is Usually Better With Letting The Person He Is Interviewing Do The More Talking About Things.
While this is true in some ways, from a young age many black children are made to notice their race by comments by other children. My daughter was 4 years old and it was another 4 year old. It then happened again in reception class then in year 1. This led to a spiralling of her self esteem and me having to do lots of work to help her to stop internalising the dislike of her colour. I had to teach her an age appropriate explanation of racism so that she would realise it was a lie that some people believed but wasn't true. It has come from adults towards her as well as children. Now she no longer internalises it but sees it as sad that others don't know the truth that skin colour doesn't matter and no skin colour is better than any other. The parent of a boy who made comments in year 1 contacted me and said she was mortified and said she'd never spoken to her children about race as she didn't want to destroy their innocence. But I said for minority kids their innocence is ended on this by other children whose parents either haven't spoken to them about being kind to others who look different to them and those parents who actively say negative things about other races in front of their children which are then repeated. My child had been around white people, black people, chinese people and Indian people from being a baby as my friends and family are from all those groups so she wasn't shocked or overly curious when she saw someone who looked different to her. Many of the white children meeting her at infant school had only ever seen white people as their parents don't have friends from all backgrounds and so they treated her - unintentionally - as a curiosity which hurt her sense of self. Just all parents of whatever race exposing their children to difference - whether through picture books, variety of dolls in various ethnicities - would help all children to not overly notice difference and make someone feel alien.

I grew up as a minority in an all black neighborhood . As a child I had many friends, and their parents openly, say racist hurtful things. At an early age I realized that it’s not the race , but the upbringing. It’s 2024 racism would go away if we would stop making it a focal point. I am against DEI hiring , and scholarship policies. It’s like saying blacks need special treatment to succeed. Blacks have held the highest position in the world. Poor schools whether they are black, white, or diverse are not the best. But that’s the education I received, and I am able to sustain myself, and I am a victor, not a victim.
Walsh is displaying how an intelligent discourse should be held. He has a point, and JR is giving him all he’s had to digest for God know how long and Matt is dissecting the information with logical and scientific approach to review theories. I know we didn’t come for the moon landing but I love learning these skills on how to have a small conversation and still hold your mind. Don’t give in guys.
I'd beg to differ: Walsh just put his entire faith into a single man to decide if a theory is credible or not. While the discourse was respectable, Walsh flaunted his arrogance too much, seemingly tactically to overcompensate his ignorance and insecurity. He's also a product of manufactured conditions and environments and canned responses, and as such, lacks ability to casually communicate about or even entertain fringe ideas. In fact, he takes a rigid stance against ideas that he finds "stupid" and which are destined to hurt his pockets, and in actuality is just as sanctimonious and ideologically-confined as those he pompously insults. (He merely suppressed this quality in the presence of his great hero, Joe, which raises suspicions about his character.) I found his entire demeanor and responses wholly typical of closed-minded individuals with only a speck of intellectual breadth, and I would advise against taking notes from him for educational purposes. Instead, talk to people and learn, firsthand.
The fact that EVERY "corporate" reviewer collectively refused to review this just goes to prove 100% these corporate news companies are all part of a larger monster, they have backroom chats among themselves whilst on the outside they merely pretend to be independent news brokers.
I can see Ned Beatty behind the desk now. Telling him he’s messing with the order of things. It’s all bullshit designed to sell more junk to some illusionary untapped market. But look what’s happened to these companies and corporations that dipped their toes in it. Total backfire. Losses. Stocks dipping. For Christ’s sake. Get it already.

Good on Joe to bring Matt back for this. Things got pretty uncomfortable in their last interaction on JRE. It shows a lot of maturity on Joe's part to be open enough to have another chat with someone he strongly disagreed with in the past. It also shows a lot of maturity on Matt's part to agree to come back and talk with someone who so vehemently disagreed with him on a topic. These two podcasts coupled together is a prime example of what civil discourse is, and how important it is for a healthy society.
Walsh really skewed me away from him with his take on Gay marriage the last time. It's so obvious that what he does is use HIS religious beliefs to try and control how other people are "allowed" to live. He couldn't even defend it well when talking with Joe. I really, really wish that the right would move toward acknowledging the rights of gay people to live like the rest of us. Gay people clearly exist, stop pretending that they're not deserving of being able to live the same way straight people do.
@@robinsok You bring up a good point. It reminds me of something that C.S Lewis once said, and please don't quote me, but I believe he was speaking with regards to religious influence on government. I'm terribly paraphrasing, so please fact check, but C.S. Lewis essentially said that religion should not dictate government law because it essentially removes the notion of freedom of will. If people want to follow God's law, or not follow God's law, they should be able to make that decision for themselves. If you impress a law on something, you are removing that right to do said something. God wants us to choose to follow Him. He does not want us to be forced to follow Him.
I feel like I watched a completely different interview than the one watched by the majority of the commenters. Maybe it's just that I've more debate and conversational experience than most, but I did not find Walsh to be a candidate for or representation of intellectual discourse. Respectable? Sure. Professional? Sure. Open-minded and a pioneer of exploratory fringe topics? Not in the slightest. Being out of his element was too apparent and impeded his ability to earnestly engage the breadth of intellect warranted when entertaining fringe ideas; which begs questions about his ability to do so outside the comforts of his manufactured environments, and about his pompacity as a debate strategy -- though a glimpse into his history would reveal he's always been rather despondent to nuanced argument and only appears to have made an exception for Joe. If you found this back-and-forth revolutionary in the sphere of casual discussion, I'd reckon that you've been doing life wrong and should practise your own conversations with others, and view controversial debates to develop your positions and really grow the craft of polite and cerebral discourse.

My daughter is a graduate of Evergreen college, she sees racism or misogyny everywhere. I’m half Japanese, went to elementary school in Hawaii (I was a minority white girl), then moved to rural PA in high school as the only Asian. There were only two people of African descent there and I never heard anyone use any racist language towards them. I experienced more prejudice in Hawaii than I ever did in PA. In my 50 years on the mainland I’ve experienced very little racism, if someone treats me badly, I figure they’re just an asshole😂.

Interesting tidbit about Matt -- when he used to live in Maryland, he got back me about 6 years ago when I threw a humble inquiry his way to speak at my church. He used to talk pretty adamantly about Christian persecution that took place in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. As a practicing Catholic, I figured I'd ask him to come to our church and speak on the topic, not expecting a reply. Sure enough he replied, wanted to do it, brought his family to it, and refused any payment, stating we should just contribute what we would pay him to our own ministry. Of course the event was plagued by an ice storm that day where all of 30 people showed up to which he quipped, "do I know how to draw a crowd ..." but I felt it was a pretty honorable thing. Of course he slammed us in a subsequent article he wrote that only "x" amount of people showed up, pretty much making the point that American Christians are often blind to issues that hit the universal church, a topic I couldn't disagree with.

"Kids just want to play with other kids who are nice to them and who they have fun with."
Amen.

(He merely suppressed this quality in the presence of his great hero, Joe, which raises suspicions about his character.)
I found his entire demeanor and responses wholly typical of closed-minded individuals with only a speck of intellectual breadth, and I would advise against taking notes from him for educational purposes.

Speaking of, Neil backed out of a debate with flat earth proponent Eric dubay. Someone who Joe then never brought on. Love rogan but you can't have topics you shutout without hearing the other side. Especially when waxing lyrical about the importance of balance and zero censorship on all the other topics of the present time. They talked about congruency on this episode, let's remember that. All topics are open books.

Agreed. Adults can get past disagreements.

I still think it was a decent debate, considering Joe has obsessed over this for a while and Matt wasn't exactly prepared for it. Matt wasn't swayed, but you could tell Joe showed him some things that he wasnt aware of.
Or if either of them knew about Polaris Dawn, where we literally went straight through the Van Allen belts like last week.
Matt didn’t have anything to say but “it’s too big to fake”..
The amount of money it takes to get the moon completely destroys any idea of mining lithium anywhere besides earth
Its hard to imagine how much patience it takes to talk about the moon landing for 1hr of a 2hr podcast while trying to promote your movie
He promoted his movie in the first few minutes which is what a lot of people will have the time to watch anyway. It’s was a fun conversation to listen to. Reminded me of the good ol’days.
@@RandomUser-fl3zo I did watch every minute of the podcast. The moon landing topic was fine for awhile but just took up such a large portion of the runtime. I am glad that they moved on to what Matt is well versed in later, I just wanted to point out the patience it takes to sit through it.
@@tyreldor4942 it all good that we thought differently. I think it wouldn’t have taken so much time if Matt could actually be a bit more open minded and admit that there are definitely a lot of questions about the moon landing and it is in fact an interesting conspiracy to entertain. That’s all Joe really wanted out of him. Unfortunately, Matt is unable to be a bit open minded about some things which is ironic.
I skipped it...became boring
Matt wanted to discuss it he’s the one that kept asking for evidence lol so Joe followed his lead
My step dad was Italian, I used to scour atound for italian jokes because he laughed so hard at them. Fun memories
My best friend’s dad was full blooded Italian and he would tell the best jokes. The one about “he got a set of Italian tires” had me laughing and I still giggle about him telling that joke every time I think about in his memory as he passed last year.
That's my experience too with my Italian Dad and family.
Every one of them were absolute laugh riots non stop. Vulgar Offside and Hilarious at their own expense. Bless em all
You know flat tires are illegal in Italy? DE go w op w op w op.
