This is the reason why I wanted you to analyze this, so im very much thankful, it's because you breakdown every single detail of the choreography that not a lot of dancer reactors would (not that they don't give an explanation but they wouldn't break it down). You made a lot of carats understand the choreo more like I didn't even know what was happening in Minghao's part but you made me understand that. And we carats are so thankful for this. This is just like the perfect analysis for Fallin Flower that carats need.
    And your intro was hilarious.

    • @agathachan7595
      @agathachan7595 4 ปีที่แล้ว +62

Then if that is the case, it mean it really is meaningful. Catching a falling flower petal, particularly cherry blossom ones means your wish about love will come true. Given the lyrics and failure to catch it from the start can signify the want to hold on a certain relationship.
This is a really beautiful imagery since cherry blossoms plays a very big role in Japanese culture. It signifies the beauty and fragility of life and how one must cherish it. ☺️

a few things that can't be seen too well in the choreo video, but when compared to the MV make sense:
12:07 - from an aerial view, they're forming the current SVT logo (see the current twitter profile pic). also kinda resembling the Carat lightstick
12:54 - same as before, aerial view shows them in the V formation (17) that is the SVT logo

    • @not-identified

Falling Flower may not be the most tiring or difficult choreography (in comparison to songs like Hit, Getting Closer, Fearless, etc) but it's easily is one of their best choreographies
Love your choreography analysis - one of my favorites (personally, I'm a carat and am always amazed by their choreographies but I'm not good at understanding what each move means for any dance so it's really great that you analyse it so well making it easy to understand)

For wind part in the choreo, Minghao sang "Kaze no mama ni" means "In the wind", Minghao sang this when he's in the center with Jeonghan. He is the wind pushing other petals after that... So it makes more sense now. Thanks Elliott for pointing that out, I was thinking about that part since the day Choreography video was out.

One thing I noticed was that when they formed the large flower blooming sideways, the movement of their arms immediately brought a chrysanthemum to my mind. Due to chrysanthemum's association with the imperial family, it is a very popular flower in Japan (and so beautiful when in bloom!). A thoughtful addition to the choreography for a Japanese song imho.

The move in the chorus part where Vernon is at the center kinda reminds me of when a flower is moving through the wind before a petal falls

I think part of the meaning is also related to the hope that the deterioration of a flower will lead to new growth. The cycle of life means that letting a flower bloom also results in it eventually dying, but that death is not the end and more life will come. It strikes me as the fear of an artist that their best work/success is behind them, but it is balanced by the hope that art/inspiration, like a flower, blooms in regenerative cycles and is never truly dead.
    Amazing video as always!

May I just say that that intro is GOLD.
Also, thank you for this. This analysis truly made me fall for Fallin Flower all over again and appreciate SEVENTEEN's art and hard work even more.
Thank you for putting effort and time to make such a great video.

This is what a dance analyzing should be , whenever you explain something you just makes me keep saying "wow" . i really appreciate your video and the fact that you did research . and i love that thing about the Japanese translate of falling flower that was so cool . i hope in their next comeback they make a Korean version for this so they can do this on their tour or even in an awards show

Your analysis made me appreciate this choreography SO MUCH MORE. I also think that if we could've seen this from a top-down angle we would have seen even more. From the top-down shots in the MV, it looks like the formations form flowers as well 🤯

Love the in-depth analysis! I caught a portion of the meaning behind their moves on my own but it's amazing that you were able to attribute the message to the rest.
One thing I was thinking about is the asymmetrical flower - I always interpreted it as a sunflower, since the music behind it is an ascending major scale (very common for sun/daytime illustration within music) and sunflowers grow to face the sun c: but the way they portrayed the petals is quite peony-like, and the peony does have quite a big of cultural significance in Japan.
Anyway, super loved the video, thank you for making it and keep it up!

Don't worry, your video always has its own value because it's a dance analysis, not just a dance reaction video. Thank you for making a 22 minutes in-depth analysis video of Fallin' Flower!

I love it when you're just being sooo supportive not only to seventeen as a group, carats, but you also did support other dance TH-camrs as well 🥺🥺🥺
To be real honest, I even rewatch your dance analysis videos for plenty of times and never get bored of it. I remember one of your vids has the comment of someone recommending a name for your fans, "ElliottNewVillager" so well, I guess I'm becoming one of those villagers hahaha
