Gunn shut the Snyder-Verse down because it was poorly received and had been around long enough. Letting Reeves continue makes sense because it was warmly received and WB has a huge contract with Reeves.
100% it's wild that this is hard to grasp for some. I saw all of these movies in theaters, supported them, tracked the numbers... but it did not do numbere a Batman v Superman movie should do, neither JL as well. I'm not blaming Snyder completely, WB rushed him into a lot of this stuff, so we got what we got. But also, it wasn't how I ever envisioned a DCU to be at all with the iterations of the characters. It didn't go well with critics and audience was split. I have waaay more faith in Gunn to give us a crowd pleaser and more accurate characters.
You are right about how those movies were received, but Zack had a vision for his universe but WB cared way too much about being like Marvel. Were they divisive? Very much so, but I truly believe that everyone would have a different opinion if he could have been able to make the movies that he wanted to
@ZachPombier didn't he want Bruce to impregnate Lois or some wild crap like that? Idk, he wasn't the guy to be in control of the whole DCU. I don't think even if his vision was completed it would have changed how divisive it was. I think it would have been even more divisive. But hey, it's the past, I'm excited for the future.

@ZachPombier Yeah man, this is coming from someone who still likes Snyder, and still checks out his work, but he would be best just making a Batman/Daredevil film with someone keeping him in check, definitely shouldn't be a Feige/Gunn type of position. Still love Watchmen/Man of Steel, but yeah man it's just how I see it.

I'm glad to see Josh eat his words and admit he might have been wrong about the Penguin. I was honestly annoyed at how dismissive he was of it last time he talked about it, because as someone who doesn't generally like "mob" stuff even I enjoyed it and could at least see how objectively good it was. And I knew how crazy fast/well the word of mouth was spreading even then.
I wish things like Moon Knight had the numbers to back up the quality, still upset about how he treats that show in particular and he'll never have to eat his words for that unfortunately.

Ngl, I know Josh is getting all upset with the DC stuff they're announcing, it doesn't make sense to him... but we haven't seen the whole picture yet. Superman is definitely happening, and I would say Lanterns is a lock, since it starts filming in January. Everything sounds pretty great to me so far. Even the Supergirl movie, the comic they're basing it on is SICK! And rumored to have Jason Momoa as Lobo in it! I'm hyped.
I am gonna skip Joker for the theater release. I'm gonna try my best to see Venom 3 in theaters.
Yeah I’m hype for all of that but idk about combining Battinson into the new DCU. I like the first movie a lot and Penguin but that’s not really the version I imagined for the DCU
@IndianaJake I don't want it to combine if Gunn is being forced to. Now if Gunn has been trying to get Pattinson/Reeves to join the new universe, that's another thing. That means he has already has plans for it. Which was rumored he did want Battinson in the universe.

The rock would be goddd awful and make it seem like a parody of the original character. You were on the mark with the way you described how he spoke, they just need an actor who has actual theatre experience.
Oscar Isaac is a fantastic example & he’s killing on Broadway and imo killed it as apocalypse in terms of how he played the character. Apocalypse deserves someone who can deliver his one liners c’mon now 😂

The rock is a terrible choice for apocalypse. I would also say patrick Stewart too old too. He needs to retire. The best option for apocalypse is do him cgi and have the voice be done by the actor who plays him on Xmen 97. If i had to choose a live action actor i would say bryan cranston or david harewood.
