I miss your vids! Post more pls hah. My only problem with Shannon and most Kpop and pop singer’s HV is the lack of depth and sometimes shallow connection/support. There’s definitely a difference between Shannon and Beyoncé’s quality. Even more obvious comparing Yuju or Sunny to any HV note of Beyonce’s. The support is there for both but much shallower and less well-embodied. I think people when talking about Head Voice should mention depth more. I think you meant cord-"closure" and not connection. A connected vocal register means being able to transition from one register to another, seamlessly. That's what separated falsetto and quasi-headvoice from true headvoice. A falsetto lacks connection, depth, strength, support and cord-closure. A quasi-headvoice can have cord-closure, depth and strength but lacks support and connection from other registers (see Tori Kelly or Ariana). A true headvoice has those five, regardless of the amount of depth and strength in tonality (See Shannon with subtle approach vs Beyonce with solid, almost operatic approach).
Plus the subtlety and fragility in Shannon's headvoice is due to two reasons. 1. by choice. I mean just like what you said, she is a pop singer. Pop music does not require such high level of technique compared to classical singing. 2. She had vocal nodule surgery years ago.
@@ReggieVu tbh the scope of "kpop idol" is kinda confusing bc traditionally you'd only consider those who debut after underwent a certain period of time in a kpop agency to train how to sing and dance and present themselves to their fans (a.k.a. fanservice) as idols but considering how the industry works they kinda fit the label
